First Blood.

Red Dawn, the original, did pretty good with it all

In The Edge, they dont persue or hunt the bear until it becomes clear they cant just run from him because he kept following.

Cast Away did well portraying a untrained "Urban Everyman" getting dropped into a extreme Survival scenario all alone. The behind the scenes footage was fascinating on all they did to prepare for the film. The "got wrong" elements listed were all chosen on purpose to show a completely untrained person discovering his way into overcoming his situation. Him discovering how to use the fire plough method to make a friction fire through trial and error, figuring out how to get food and prepare it, suffering diarrhea from drinking too much coconut water, getting caught in his first storm and having to scurry to find shelter in a cave... etc The comparisons to before and post time skip were drastic after he went from hoping for rescue to actual survival. After the time skip he had developed the ability to make cordage, learned to how build things with lashings, could correct for water distortion while spear fishing, firgured out which fish he could eat raw, was able to plan ahead to for food and water requirements, had recorded down seasonal changes for weather, etc, etc... He was practically a surviving like a machine until he developed the hope to to escape via the delivery of a busted port-a-potty for a sail. Such a great film.

Wait, I thought the whole point of the Chris McKinley movie was that he was an idiot and that we shouldn’t feel for him.
