Hey folks in this video I quickly cover 6 puzzles you can use for your own games whether that's dungeons and dragons, pathfinder, or any other TTRPG out there with doors, which... I'm pretty sure is all of them. I hope it's helpful and is useful when you're planning last minute for some more puzzles to throw at your players!

I love the intelligent door that's terrible at riddles. The players will go nuts thinking of a hard riddle. LOL.

I had a idea for a dungeon a while back. Its a massive door with 5 key holes of varying colors, the party needs to solve puzzles, kill monsters, and so on and so forth to get 4 keys. The keys dont actually matter, if the same person pushes on the door three times then it opens. Oh and the door reflects any spells cast at it. If you want to mix some role play into this i like to add to skelitons when the party aproche one says "halt, if. you wish to get our key you must give us something" the other one says "One of us only tells the truth while the other only lies" as you can probably guess they skelitons are lying, they can both lie or tell the truth but there just bored and wanted to have some fun so they made this little scheem

I used a doorway in some ruins that had, inscribed upon its lintel: To seek the truth you must be blind to it. To pass, my players had to walk through with their eyes shut or blindfolded and they would find themselves in the library of a necromancer, otherwise they would walk through and remain in the ruins. They knew it was a portal because they had seen their charge go through earlier and ‘disappear’. I love the last idea where you have to flatter the door, but I’m afraid my players are too obstinate and wouldn’t try that. I might give it a go though.

Some puzzles just don’t work with certain players

suggestion: riddle-door yields to a paradox. No complements, no interaction, ego is irrelevant; if met with a paradox-riddle, it merely implodes.

I like these puzzle videos. Especially since I don't play 5e and that's all anyone talks about so the fact that I can use this material in my 3.5 campaign without converting it is a major plus. Don't worry I'm subscribed. Lol.

I always try to keep my puzzles variable enough that they can at least be modified to fit other systems, so I’m happy to hear that they’re useful to you on 3.5

very nice, concise video! i’m about to dm a game for the very first time, so i appreciate the layout here - getting right to the meat of the content, without being overwhelming. very appreciated! i might use one or two of these in the campaign i’m doing, and this video overall has definitely given me inspiration on the types of structures i can use to make my own puzzles (process of elimination, lore deduction, and reoccurring patterns all got brought up here, and having them all laid out like this really helps) great video, definitely gonna watch your others now as well

Ooh I like these ones! I think that by failing forward, if they enter the trapped door from the goblin speaking door, it should let them to a harrowing path but not instant death

On door number 6 that needs to be complimented, what sort of clues could you use to hint to your players about this?

How would you deal with Dispel Magic on the door?

If they're willing to expend a 3rd level spell slot to get past the door, that seems like a reasonable trade-off in resources vs using that spell slot to restore any HP they lost from the door itself, so I personally wouldn't have much of an issue
