Through force and violence. No it's not rape if they insult you first.
The list in order of appearance: 1) Science ships can Ctrl+shift+click to add something to the top of the queue without getting rid of the queue. I imagine construction ships can do similarly for certain anomalies. 2) Left side bar can be locked in position with the thing in the bottom right of the expanded bar. 3) To encounter your custom empires all the time or give them a chance to spawn you can click the button next to their names in empire selection and it will turn orange. Once for a chance to spawn, twice for forced spawn. 4) The bar on the right has an options menu to customise the Outliner menu which lets you cut down on UI clutter and scrolling for days to find a planet/whatever. 5) You can hotkey ships using Ctrl+number. Usable on multiple fleets/ science ships, armies.etc 6) In the ‘More’ button in the bottom right there is a button for an internet browser that links to the stellaris wiki. For example if you want to find out what AI personalities actually do.

A lot of these tips I knew about but just totally forgot somehow.
@ASpec there is an easier way to get rid of a fleet/ship hotkey. Say you've got something for 6 and want to clear it. Make sure you aren't selecting anything and press Ctrl-6, just the same as if you were trying to create the hotkey with something selected, it puts whatever is selected as hotkey 6. If there's something selected, it becomes 6. If nothing is selected, nothing becomes that hotkey. It's a nice and simple method and I find it quicker than right-clicking on the icon.
God damn, this shift+ctrl combo is so awesome, how did i missed this? Good and quality vid as always, thumb up and keep good job. Cheers
Few tips from me Science Ships and Scientists: If you use Ctrl+Shift order on asissting research ships - after job done, they go back to asissting so you don't have to care which planet lacks that science buff. If you are xenophile empire or megacorporation survey only neighbouring systems for early expansion and just explore the galaxy to pass as many empires as you can (as a xenophobe or "evil" empire you can have your ships already behind empire that instantly closes border to you). I personally love to have multiple bonuses on my scientists and if you get psychic ascension it is reasonably easy to get 4 perks that alone give +40% research speed to all research - spark of genius, psychic, brainslug host and AI asisstant (if relgious pops didn't make you ban it). If your scientist is lost in experimental subspace navigation or retreat you can't recall him normally, but you can assign him to other science ship - ship in experimental navigation will continue to it's destination normally without scientist. You can't stop some special projects or anomaly research... well you can - just ctrl+shift anything to that science ship and then just order movement without queue and done. Trade: Spam trading jobs in capital system worlds and every attached system. This way you don't have to care about piracy. If you lack consumer goods - change trade policy to gain 1 consumer good for 4 energy if market price is skyrocketing thanks to AI empires. Hotkeys: I personally find them most useful to tag terraformation candidate as expansion planner isn't too clear about it for me. Sorry if I duplicated any tips from ASpec, I have been playing more than watching recently. Have fun conquering the galaxy!
The spiffing brit and your channel made me buy the game yesterday no regrets ^^
Pro-Tip - Always be Purging (ABP). Paradox forums has an analysis posted that directly ties slowdowns end game to the number of Pops in the galaxy. If you want to avoid the real end game crisis - the evil lag monster - you need to purge the galaxy of Pops.

In addition to the Spawning Empire mechanic. When you have your Empires set to allow spawn ( not force spawn) there is the chance that your empires will spawn as FE or primitives.

That ctrl shift really surprised me, thx Paradox!
Ctrl+Shift is a fucking game-changer. It's such a tiny thing but I've been taking advantage of it while playing this past weekend and it really does lighten the load a bit on managing order queues, not just for getting science ships to prioritize anomalies but for sending patrol ships to go upgrade then automatically return to their assigned patrol. Love it, wish I had known about it sooner.
hey aspec, love the vids, especially this one :). I was wondering if you could make a video about game optimization or any sort of tips to help run the game at a higher fps? keep up the good work!
I play with the UI Overhaul Dynamic + Tiny Outliner v2 (plus the patch to make em both work together), UI is perfect with that.

i've been playing for about a month now, and i still didn't know half of these. i really wish the game had a better tutorial, but w/e. take my like. you have earned it.
So I’ve had this game since preorder. 870 hours spent on so many versions of the game. I knew pretty much all of these. Except for the science ship queuing. Now I’ve just got my face in my hands thinking of all the times I could have used this.
this is one of the best videos about stellaris.
oh man, those outliner options are great! got realy tiered of scrolling through 20 sectors every time i needed my fleet....
Aspec i want to thank you for these videos. i'm new to the game anyways but i learned more about alot of the mechanics by watching your videos which is amazing. OMG i love the fact there is a built in wiki in the game. I have to exit the game everytime i want to look up how to attain a certen tech or look for console commands. great video
The MOAR button is a fantastic tip. Cheers ASpec
damn Aspec, I didn't know a lot of these, and I have a good amount of hours in this game. keep it up
Paradox likes to keep some of these things similar between their games. The CTRL + Shift clicks I am used to from HOI4 and the outliner settings is similar to EU4.
Another general tip for strategy games in general that I refused to acknowledge for years is this: Information is a great weapon. Know your enemy. Know what they're up to. Plan accordingly. That, and don't rely on any kind of automation. The AI really has no idea what it's doing. Even if you're not too great at it and the micromanagement can get tedious, if you do it all yourself, it's hard to go wrong. Not going to lie. I actually enjoy managing everything myself now. It's an additional strategy layer. Specialising planets and replacing buildings to meet that end as you get further into the game is also a good idea. It might seem wasteful at first but it does pay off. You could also set up fortress worlds at key choke points to keep the enemy out too. If your defenses doesn't stop them, the fortress world will slow them down and give you the time you need to stop them. Maybe build a habitat there if a habitable planet there isn't present but a gas giant is. Or a ring world.
Wow! Who knew useful information could be found on KZread? I thought it was all cat videos and makeup tutorials. Thanks for the tips, especially that Wiki thing... I had no idea.
omg that first tip thank you, like I knew about the shift clicking because that's pretty standard, but i didn't realize you could ctrl shift, i kinda wish though you could ctrl click to remove stuff from the queue.
Thousands of hours and I still didn’t know about that wiki built in thx aspec
Hey Aspec you going to do another Mod Video? would be interesting to see what mods you use (unless someone has link to a recent post?)
Best tip from this video , the internet browser 😂😂 i did not know that but knew everything else glad i clicked this video , you learn something new everyday
I have something to add aspec whenever you have more than the ai empires you’ve selected set to forces spawn it will spawn them regardless
It's insane, I'm a beginner and I hate it when I have more than 6 fleets to manage but thanks to you it's now way easier
That has been a great help for me, even if I play the gams since it's out
Little one I just found but it literally cost me a campaign i was in.... Discovered the button on stars to tell your fleet to avoid that sector. My fleet coming to defend against the nanites got wiped by jumping into their homeworld -_- Wish I knew it earlier.
Nice tips ASpec :)
Wish I could like this video for each tip I did not know. still early at 6 days of game time but I have missed so much of this.
I learned some things, yay!
Finally a video that isn't AN hour long
I'm proud that I know all of these, yet also sad I didn't learn anything new
this help me alot tyvm from new player!!!
Won't lie, only learned about the Shift + Ctrl queuing trick a few days ago
If you want to remove a hotkey without clicking on the icon, you can do this by simply having nothing selected and then pressing Ctrl+# and this wipes the hotkey.
Happy Birthday :)

Something different but referring to the new economic revamp in Stellaris; one time in a multiplayer game I actually once traded 20 monthly energy for 6 SINGLE food supply, as I needed monthly food. When the person I was trading with pointed that out, I blamed my own reflexes.
I was unlucky to miss the conversation held on discord. What you have here is a good idea but it my head it is way to diverse, you have what 12 planet types - this will take way too narrow specialization. In my head a far more approachable concept is to have 4 different types of armies much like the different classes of ships. best vs. cities maybe train artillery, best vs. energy districts maybe infantry due to 0 ion interference, best vs farm should be motorized armies (vehicles) and best vs mining for example to have tanks. This way you get 4 types of diversity not making it completely useless on one type of planet vs another and force you to strife for a healthy mix of armies :)
Saved my nervs with that little lock button!!!
Wow, played this game 400 hours still didnt know the first 2. Thanks Aspec 😂

I'm manually looking at every system to see if there is Zro anywhere (need it for psi shields) but after not finding any in the galaxy i'm paranoid that I missed some somewhere because the map is so cluttered, but I don't want to keep looking for something that doesn't exist if I didn't actually miss anything.
