Bhubaneswar, Cuttack , Talcher and Rourkela. This are some CITES of Odisha. Which should be given more attendance. As we people of Odisha get nothing from center government. As for metro its completed funded by our Odisha state government .Not a penny was given by center government. And cities Like Rourkela and Talcher are super important cites as one has thermal power plant, coal mines and other has One of the world best steel and alumine factory . We give lots of natural resouser to whole country but in return we get nothing just delayed promises. Like In Talcher Indias Largest Fertilise plant, Modi promised it. Kolkata has faced a lot of struggles from the time of independence...which isn't seen in other major cities present at that time...poor governance and future planning is also cause of this...and being the only metropolitan present in the Eastern and North-Eastern India brings a huge burden to the city...and Kolkata has a long history that's developing it to the standards is way too hard if u look into the recent works of the east west metro corridor...Delhi sustained just because it is the National Capital and the adjoining areas of Delhi is being well settled as NCR ! It is easy to complain but the solutions r way too twisted !

Kolkata's downfall is due to three reasons. First, the Congress govt in Delhi which made a deal with Jinna and broke a state into two, whose immigrants fleeing genocide who are still incoming. Second, is the blasted communists who drove away all industries. Thirdly, the disastrous FEP which shifted all industries to Gujarat and Maharashtra, crippling not only Bengal but also Bihar and Odisha. That being said Kolkata alone cannot take this pressure of immigrants flowing in from Bihar and Bangladesh. West Bengal must develop atleast 3 more cities to sustain this human wave, ie Kharagpur because it is the gateway to West and Central India, Shiligurri gateway to Northeast India and Haldia gateway to the vast seas of the South.

Kolkata is still the 3rd richest Metro city of India. It's miles ahead of any other city of India despite facing so much downfall. Historically, culturally and economically it's importance will never fade away. And now it's rising again with modern and new infrastructure. Newtown is a good example, one of the upcoming IT hub of India.

Durgapur is a well connected city with an emerging education boom which has been seen here for several years. Many students from other cities come to persue a better education here. Their r prestigious colleges like Nit Durgapur BC Roy . Lots of land is free here for It industry to be setup. Durgapur is well connected by airways ( Kavi Nazrul Airport) main roads like ZT Road . It’s only 4 hours from Kolkata.

i feel chennai is worst city its even dirtiest than kolkata when i visited . its very messy god save chennai . FREEEEEEE ARE DESTROYING TODAY.

In list of small/med size cities, Karnal, Jind, Bhiwani, Sirsa faced downfall in Haryana while Panipat, Panchkula, Hisar faced rapid growth.

Punjab has also been neglected badly. The only cities which have shown considerable growth are Chandigarh & Mohali due to real-estate and small IT industry.

@@tanmaypaul6044 you just search on google various projections shows this or just else wait and watch kolkata was already having such a low ranking 7 th position but when new census will be done kolkata will be out of top 10 for sure just use your brain ( for example kolkata city population was 45 lac in 2000 census but in 2011 it declined to 44 lac where as surat city was having 24 lack population in 2000 census but in 2011 it was 44 lac that is almost equal to kolkata so its now almost 15 years since then now population of surat is projected to be 77 lacs according to multiple data

@@tanmaypaul6044 you know dum dum salt lake newtown rajarhat barasat and other out growths other cities can also claim that like ghaziabad meerut noida greater noida hapur modinagar muradnagar sikandarabad bulandshahr are same urban agglomeration and has more population then kolkata but never counted under ghaziabad urban agglomeration and ghaziabad urban agglomeration is itself the part of delhi urban agglomeration so if we count this way then delhi urban agglomeration population will be around 4 crores and its already 2 nd largest urban agglomeration in the world accroding to various sources you can google it

Unfortunately i visited there once for an event, stayed there for 3-4 days, what i found is 80 percent area in kolkata is poorly planned and congested,narrow roads with hawkers everywhere, old looking building(feels like 1940s), dirty, every area has huge open high drains with mosquitoes waiting for a bite, police harassing bikers for money, Very few good roads, new city is very small in size(newtown 6*7 km2 area), few building are here and there, that's all, worst metropolitan city ever.

I went to Hyderabad some of area is looking like a big village....& I didn't found any difference between secunderabad & old Kolkata...though Kolkata handled much more crowd than secunderabad.... Some of the part of city doesn't hv traffic signal or zebra crossing which is dangerous for pedestrians

Except Delhi Mumbai Bangalore Hyderabad Chennai Pune and somewhat Kolkata I hardly find any cities which provide that's much employment than these cities

@@user-xs2no8ep9w Gurgaon, Noida comes under NCR. They gets all benefits like good metro connectivity, road infrastructure, bridges from central govt because they’re part of NCR. DMRC(Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) even run metro for Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, Fardiabad, etc just because they’re part of NCR region and provides significant employment.

@@7001nikhil But DMRC metro don't connect entire Gurgaon and Noida and its because Gugaon have its own rapid metro and Noida have its own metro as well as they are all dufferent. And Delhi metro only connects limited areas of Guragaon and Noida. NCR is just an urban planning board and state like UP, Haryana and Rajasthan are member of it to integrate economy with eachother.

It is possible if we work hard and honestly specially young one.We need true Indian. Please spread this among our young generation

Add to this list Mumbai......Mumbai as a city has seen its peak and is slowly becoming congested and unviable. Companies are increasingly shifting to Bangalore, Hyderabad and even GIFT City as seen recently and the growth of the city has ebbed in the last few years

Ever increasing Population and lack of interest of government in being practical and taking steps such as 1) Enforcing No Reservation Policy for more than one child. 2) Banning Reservation for minority religion population as no such thing exist in those religions. 3) Promoting and encouraging maximum Tax payments.

Continuous tenure of a government is always dangerous. The parties strive to win people with developments if there is an alternate government every tenure. The fact that Bengal has communist rule for 3 decades and TMC for almost a decade plus, is a big disadvantage.

@@ss-416 Actually the population in Odisha is very less even though Odisha is a high tax payer state and Yeah very soon Bhubaneswar will have a metro system by 2025 and it will connect Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri. Metro routes has been planned and soil testing everything has been finished now it's time to execute. As you know that Odisha faced a lot of crisis in its history like utter poverty and continuous cyclonic storms every year and Odisha CM Nabin Babu has understood the problem in his state and started the infrastructure development rapidly which we can see the ongoing projects odisha currently and has the best disaster management system also. Still Odisha has certain problems and the people and the government are trying to fight and make Odisha rise. You cannot predict the decline of city based on infra issues there are so many social factors and government policy will continuously impact city's growth. In case of chennai it's office space absorption is 131% growth in 2023. Which is higher then any city in india. And total absorption is higher then mumbai and pune.....so Why these foriegn investors investing there. you should do more resarch on this topic. And it is unfair to label any cities as declining market without proper research.

All over India jobs ratio downfall people mostly move to gulf countries

As a resident of Bihar, it's disheartening to know that a Patna that is hardly recognised city of Bihar but it's a city of garbage too. I have visited Patna several times and witnessed it's dirty condition. People have to live near large sewer where residue of big animals are thrown after getting slaughtered. Due to that vicious smell spread all over the area. 😷😷
