    Thank you for listening ! I sent in a request a couple weeks ago. Addressing this exact situation. Small parcel setups. I have ten acres in north Fl. No home on it. Two neighbors within 100 yards of property line. The only thing I would add is more winding trails. Use natural plants feature s to help create side cover. My property is a work in progress. Still working on bounddry line cover and creating pockets. Two years in. Last year I harvested a six point the first day. Right where I expected him. The first year was slow but this year does 7-8 big 6 and bunch of small bucks Three doe groups are on property almost everyday. Keep up the small parcel info thanks

    Great video. Went from hunting on ~200 acres of family land, to moving 3 states over. Finally got permission to hunt 75 acres owned by a customer of mine. Except I was not allowed to plant anything, or even take my vehicle on the land. Hard enough as it is as an archery only hunter. But with about 30 minutes left of daylight on closing day, I got a great shot on a 115 lb nanny.

    Hey Jeff I have a question on spraying for switchgrass. I have a weedy area I want to plant and want to make sure I have the sprayings in the right order and when to do it. So first I put simazine down in spring green up. Then when the weeds are getting tall I spray 24-d then when do I do the 3rd spray of 24-d? And then I repeat the first 2 steps next year then broadcast the seed? And I don’t do anything in between the spraying like in the winter? Just wanted to make sure because I am going to buy seed from you and wanted to make sure the steps are right.and do I need to apply gly in there and when would I. Thanks

  • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

    @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

    A tough guess...1.5 acres. You don't need to fertilize switch...you have to fertilize more every year with EW. They are 2 different products. EW is a temporary product, not at its best year after year. Switchgrass is permanent and if you take care of it (easy to do), it will last decades. Your switchgrass pays for itself in under 3 years compared to EW...

    Question: How do you address guys who have small tracts of land, but every deer they shoot runs off their property and dies somewhere else? We all love to hunt, but how fair is it to a neighboring landowner who all year long put in food plots, did habitat management and lives for the rut- only to have a guy next door with 5-10 acres shoot a deer and it always ends up over the fence? It's hard to admit, but some tracts of land are much too small to hunt and think the deer is not going somewhere else. I have talked with guys that own land and they want to be a good neighbor and allow tracking, but it totally screws up their own hunting in the process as every deer runs onto their property and dies. I could see someone finally saying, "yup, we can look for it mid December when my family is done hunting- but right now you'd be screwing up something I too have been looking forward to all year long". Food for thought.

  • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

    @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

    3 ай бұрын

    Definitely food for thought! In this case the landowner can retrieve deer on his non hunting neighbor to the east and north. His buddy is to the south. I've seen areas where someone in 5 acres hunts in the corner of a parcel and is 20 yards from a neighbor's in 2 directions. The deer always died in the neighbor. After it happened a few times, in a row the neighbors agreed to build an 8' fence. No more problems. Certainly a balancing act. The good thing is for ding on the location of the stand, 10 acres is often a 1/4 mile deep and 110 yards wide. So depending on where the stand is and where agreeable neighbors are, it can work. If you own 5 acres and are surrounded by non agreeable neighbors you are in trouble unless shot with a gun and you drop the deer ..

    Here in Mississippi where we have no tagging, no check in system, and baiting is legal, everybody with a backyard is now set up to shoot deer, often times from their house. This is destroying our deer herd. At least from any management perspective. For example, I've got a guy who owns 1.5 acres with a trailer and a feeder on it next to my 360 acres. They kill 6-8 young bucks a year from his kitchen window. We tried talking with him with no success. I'm about to run a high fence down my property lines with him. This is an increasingly common problem for landowners, especially in the south where our seasons are so long and liberal. It's a shame that it's come to this.
