6.5 Creedmoor vs .300 Win Mag. - Is There Even a Debate?

The bantamweight 6.5 Creedmoor and heavyweight .300 Win Mag. probably don’t belong in the same ring. So, we put them there. Our goal - to examine them side by side, answer questions, and possibly reveal some misconceptions. Is the 6.5 Creed really made of unicorn dust forged from Zeus’s lightning bolt itself? Or does it have limitations? Conversely, do you need a .30 caliber magnum to put a whitetail down for its long winter’s dirt nap. Tune in to see who comes out on top in this most unlikely of cartridge comparisons.

6.5 is totally enough if you limit the ranges and let the bullets perform, but selling it as a long range game cartidge is a lie. The 300 WM is undeniably a better game cartridge.

There's a big difference between punching paper and humanely putting down big game. All these people toting the 6.5 Creedmoor should stick to punching paper...

I'm sorry but your not going to shoot an Alaskan moose or brown bear with a 6.5 creed

Hi guys, looking forward to the video. As a request, could you please adjust your judging criteria so that the 6.5 Creedmoor always loses in these comparisons? Thanks.

    I'd like to see a 6mm Creedmoor/ .243 comparison in the future.

i call bullsh*t on the versatility , what would you take for hunting bear or moose? in those cases bigger is better, should have been a draw between them for that cat.

I personally don't think the 6.5 Creedmoor should be trusted to ETHICALLY take big game at distances beyond 600 yards. But that is not to say it isn't a great cartridge, just that an ethical kill should be prioritized over your personal comfort or ego.

I’ve got a300win mag, 6.5creedmoor, and a 7mm prc …and I love them all! For different reasons they all have their place, range, game size, recoil! Let’s keep em all in the arsenal to enjoy!!!!

6.5 CM can be used for whitetail. I have seen a hunter get a moose at a few hundred yards with a 6.5 CM 143 gr. That being said, the .300 WM is more versatile in what you can effectively hunt, including moose. Just manage the recoil with a soft pad and other accoutrement.

I have both. They do very different jobs and each have strengths. I’ve found with a break/surpressor my 300wm shoots just as gently as my 6.5cm.
