6.5 Creedmoor Long Range Groundhogs - 725 Yard Hit!!!

New personal long range record at 725yds!
In this video we push the 123gr SST past 800yds. The SST flies true, however the wind is a huge factor. I just dialed this load in and chronographed it the day before. This outing was the first test for this setup and it is looking good so far. With a little more practice I think we will be seeing even better shots with the Tikka 6.5CM and Hornady 123gr SST. As always thanks for watching, sharing, and subscribing!
Please check out Doug's Optics and Outdoors, opticsandoutdoors.com/. Doug has been a big help to this channel, so please support the people who support us.
Loadout:
Tikka T3x Lite w/ T3x CTR stock
6.5 Creedmoor
123gr Hornady SST
44gr Reloader 17
Peterson brass case
CCI BR-2 Primed
~3050fps
Sightron S-Tac 4-20x50 MOA-2 Reticle

This is what gives American shooters a bad name, you obviously haven’t taken the time to understand how to shoot the rifle accurately at distance, having to figure out hold offs from an app. No keeping record of shots, calling wind values, 1/2 vs full. I would be embarrassed to post a video like this, as would any serious marksman! Do yourself a favor, practice first, learn how to dope wind, keep a data book on all shots taken...

@@michaelreed8807 I concur. It’s important for content creators to at least have the appearance of knowing what they’re doing and at the least try to impart some small amount of knowledge to the viewers. Such as Texas plinking, Pursuit of Accuracy, Eric Cortina... watch some of their videos, then give it a try. This video is not much more than a “hold my beer 🍺, I gonna chewt it”...🥴 thank you

Hey gregrn779 - you are one miserable individual. Spent many deployments as an Army sniper - unless you have Mark 4 Leupold with T3 turrets with BDC ranges, or MOAs come ups written down in the scope lens cover - then there is nothing wrong with looking up come-up’s from IPhone or notebook or whatever. You talk a lot of smack - I would like to see in how many seconds you would come up with firing solution - mill dot ranging and wind call correction in MOA for man size target at unknown range. Good video bro, keep on shooting.

Pity you do not have one of the fantastic Burris ELIMINATOR 3 scopes mate. I have one on my Tikka Super Varmint Stainless in 6.5 x 55 se. I hold on my target, push the button, hold the little red dot on the spot where I want to hit and squeeze of the shot. Never miss. Also using the 123SST @ 2980fps. Scope has hash marks which give close to perfect hold off for wind if you use wind measuring device. Never have to worry about adjusting the scope, just push the button and its goodnight. Our rabbits would be similar to your Woodchucks, maybe just a bit smaller, but I consistently take them with head shots at 800yds. I want to eat them not leave them in the paddock. Wish I had a camera though.

All the other rifles you see on this channel are excellent deer rifles that we go chucking with to get real world practice. I appreciate you checking out these videos and commenting on them. That is the main benefit to small calibers that you mentioned. Even 22-250 is close to a dollar a round for okay stuff. I do enjoy loading my own, but it eats up a lot of time. There isn't anyway I could afford to shoot as much as I do If I didn't load though.

Yea once set up handloading you can make almost any caliber cheap. I tend to shop for the cheapest round then buy the gun for it. The 22-250 is nice but for some reason the .204 was cheaper off the shelf for ammo by a factor of 2x

If that is true then why the Hell are you shooting at a little tiny woodchuck in the wind at 7&8 hundred yards. My God Just Think About What You Are Saying !!!! David Mccann a gut shot is inevitable in certain circumstances and this is one of them. And with the caliber we are using, a gut shot would still result in basically instant death. However, we would never intentionally go for a gut shot. Not sure why you’re getting so worked up about it, but that’s the end of the story.

  • @ChuckinTV

David Mccann by the way, the shot you’re referencing is only 380 yards and Eric hit that chuck mid-body. Again, I’m not sure what you’re trying to get at? When shooting at 600+ yards we both hold mid body for the most part. If the chuck is standing we hold at the top of the head as “most” of our loads if they are going to miss, they will kiss low. This is something that we’ve discovered over YEARS of shooting at these things.
