Dr Thompson is probably my favorite sog dude. He’s so good at making one “see” and “feel” a fraction of what it was like to lead a team. Still hoping to see Mr Pastic Man on the show! Sorry for my absence; my whole existence was hacked and it’s been a job cleaning it up and starting over….😅
Thank you, Bud! I think they should have allowed Mr. Thompson to go on a solo mission. I have every faith that he would have returned successfully and gone on many more. I found the poem I was thinking of, "The Winners" by Rudyard Kipling (excerpt): "When the night is thick and the tracks are blind, / . . . a fool to wait for the laggard behind. / Down to Gehenna or up to the Throne, / He travels fastest who travels alone."
I would be so excited to see a Band Of Brothers type of film about Vietnam S.F. guys especially if Mr. Thompson advised on it.
Just ordered book 1 sixteen quid in UK on Amazon. A bit pricey but Dick's the real deal. Can't wait. Respect this bloke, comes across as a good man, true professional and real hero. Thanks guys. 👍
All living SOG guys need to narrate all of these books into Audiobooks
Some Pathfinders would jump in in ones and twos, doing different tasks though so respect to Dick for contemplating and then suggesting and volunteering the idea. Wow on many levels.
That lowering the temperature in one hand was famously done by Swami Rama at the Menninger Clinic in the 1960's. I wish Mr. Thompson would write further "higher consciousness" material for the layperson.
I definitely want to get his books with his signature. That would be something to pass down to the children
