I am not a veteran! I’m the son of a deceased USMC combat vet 1968-1969 (Lima 3/5)
This page is pure History and is historically driven! Telling the stories of the brave men of MACV-SOG and some FORCE RECON vets! This page will be livestreams, interviews and chats about events, men and gear throughout the WAR!
I’ve been interviewing SOG and Force Recon vets the past 5 years and was even invited to SOAR in Las Vegas this past October. Hope to share some amazing history and maybe introduce y’all to some interesting stories and men you may not know about! 🇺🇸⚔️🇺🇸

Thank you, Bud.
Y'all have both an informative podcast and a superlative vehicle honoring the brave Vietnam veterans WHOOAH from a former light infantry soldier and an OLD rodeo man
Uhh... we got thunder and lost power, so I missed the rest of the live podcast
Out freaking standing!
Well I always thought that the indigenous had their own mess hall, glad I was corrected on that. Thanks for another great show bud.
@@jwspeakermre5968 this is at CCC . CCN I believe they did have their own 👌
@@budgibson185 thanks for the info bud, I always forget that there's other command and controls.
damn i missed it coz I'm at work sorry Terry, John and Bud. Hello from Scotland!
My mother was married to Capt. Larry Manes for about 5 years until 1981, and we lived with him on the Big Island. I am beside myself hearing stories about him and reading about him in the book "We Few." I haven't had contact with him since about 1982 when I was 11 years old, and I would love to get in touch with him considering his age now. I heard that he sold the house in Keaau on the Big Island and moved to Honolulu, but I can't find any info about him on social media. I'm pretty sure he would be glad to be in touch with me because we got along very well, and he was a good stepfather while he and my mom were together. The nicknames that Larry had are hilarious and I can't believe how many the men gave him. Thanks for what you do here on this channel and keep up the good work.
Glad he made it out 🇺🇸
YOU ARE A VERY GRACIOUS INTERVIEW ER I ENJOY AIRBORNE
ANOTHER GREAT SHOW...KEEP THEM COMING❤
@@jb101abn thank you for watching and the high praise sir
Some bad ass shit! Greetings Willie from Squarebanks bit more north from Anchorage. Great interview Bud
Thanks for your service Mr. King. Awesome channel Bud
First, Willie is awesome 😎
What year was Greg in CCC ?
Hey Bud. Hope all is well. Wanted to comment on this interview. Thank you for doing what you are doing. Wonderful job! Thank you to Mr. Paul and all of the Vietnam veterans who served our great country. Your voice has not be lost or forgotten.. Bless you!
I have an uncle in Greg’s state of residence. He sure doesn’t think Greg should be talking about some of the South America stuff. He won’t tell me anything despite our close relationship and my background in the Marines and contracting in Iraq and Afghanistan. I don’t deserve an opinion on all that but it’s been an awesome experience to hear Greg share about this history. S/F
@@niemdan rarely does he discuss things that aren’t at least been discussed in the sphere. Some things he won’t bring up or won’t mention, along with a few other SOG vets
@@budgibson185 I'm sure Greg is a professional. My uncle is old fashioned. They told him never to talk about it, so he never will period. I can appreciate where he is coming from, but I"m glad to see some of this history being recorded thanks to Greg and this interview
Great job Bud! You've gotten much better at performing these interviews.
@@stanmorgan3107 thank you for the kind words Mr.Stan 🇺🇸🫡
hey kid, instead of interviewing these guys why don't you carve your own path? go join the military.
@@jimsimminins3020 I’m 33 years old and have already been told I can . I had a car wreck and have metal in my legs and a fake hip. Thanks for the life advice though, guy

Regarding the lost SPAF: If memory serves me correctly, there was a double whammy on that incident. There was a hatchet force platoon on the ground and a team on the ground (?), the platoon was having problems and needed help. The backseat was new in country. At that time call-sign assignment was given to the AF. For what ever reason they did not know the distinction between the FOBs and gave the call-sign to CCN and CCC. Consequently all the air support requests went north, with CCC being advised by the AF that they were responding. Technically correct, all went north, non to CCC.That was in addition to the weather over the AO. Magnet Ass was the monkey Pete gave me following his last flight. Actually it was late afternoon; we took off from Dak Pek to do arecon for my next mission. As I recall, a Mig alert was transmitted and all the other a/c were flying south as fast and low as possible, so basically we were the only one flying north. Flying up the golf course, I saw a pak time hootch right in the middle and asked Pete if he ever saw anyone by one. Replied now, they hear us coming and get under cover. I guess this guy wanted a trophy as he fired straight up as we flew over and several hits in the wing and one in the bottom, which felt like I had been kicked by a mule. Pete didn't see anything under his seat so I unstraped to look under mine and the tail. Looking at the tail I saw the canvas cover on the floor that normally would have been attached at the join between the body and the tail had a hole through it and when I moved it saw that the elevator cable had about 50% of the strands cut. Needless to Pete was passed, got off a couple of wily Pete's at hootch and we returned to Dak Pek. Upon landing Pete told me to stay away from, which I did while laughing. Aborigini

The Bob Howard biography is long overdue! I am a 30-year SF Vet. They should make a move out of it. I was the OIC for his Memorial Service!

Bud great going setting all of this up. Thus, from the channel logistics to developing the relationships you have with so many of these veterans who seem all too happy to come on the show. Some 3 and 4 times to share their experiences. And thank you for letting them speak and not being like a lot of other hosts who interrupt on a pretty regular basis. Always listen in when I get a notification on your channel. 😊
@@Nsdus5676 that’s high praise right there . It’s been a wild 6-7 years talking to some of the guys I’ve had on , others arent too fond of the spotlight . It’s just wild what these men did lol . Some of the guys who stayed in and ended up delta or Det A . Just wild
A outstanding Marine Officer. A extremely intelligent man. It would have been a honor to have served under him.
