I’m sure even if it’s a world record in all planet fitness gyms any strongman can come and beat Brian Shaws record. Big fat dudes that are Brian Shaws height with some strength to them even without participating in worlds strongest men could train to beat it too. I mean Bench press in itself is only one solid movement going up and down so as long as the guy trying to break the record has some insane mass and power I see it beat. Besides that what Brian did and does everyday takes insane amount of power almost no man on this earth could replicate.

No grunting, didn't clang and bang, racking ..... The guy working there even apologised to me as he was passing on the complaint and said he thinks it was cause I was intimidating someone ... I honestly have never been to a more ridiculous, judgemental gym (same at the one I went to, Smith machine, what a joke) sufficed to say I found myself a strength gym to go to the next day and felt much more comfortable during my holiday training.... 3 жыл бұрын

@@startingtech3900 Some lifts require you slam the weight because lowering the bar slowly would ruin your spine. Deadlifts and pendlay rows, just to name a couple. Sometimes after you do a heavy set with dumbbells, say incline presses, you put the dumbbells down, catch your breath and pick them up later. And if they are really heavy, "putting them down" means slamming. Have you ever done 20 reps of heavy squats? You will cry your lungs out, even if you are a quiet lifter you will have to "grunt," don't know who decides what's over the top. All gyms have basic rules, like you are not supposed to damage the equipment (e.g. slamming the weight to damage the floor or using a machine improperly) and you can't intentionally disturb someone (e.g. staring at them, using their personal space when they do a set or yelling at their face to distract them, etc). 99.99% of people comply with these basic rules, heavy lifters more than the rest because they are focused on their lifts. If you bring in extra emphasis on "slamming" and "grunting," you are basically discouraging people from working out properly. That's totally unnecessary and complete jerk behaviour. And setting up an alarm that makes more noise than the loudest grunt to expose and humiliate someone instead of approaching friendly and calmly. That's disgusting.

@@Thumpster59166 Oh, shut the hell up. Eddie 'broke the record' *in a deadlift suit.* How come nobody likes to mention that? Thor wore one too, but it's because Eddie set the precedent. Turning the most important lift in powerlifting into an equipped lift from now on is twenty times as bad as performing the lift with a judge on calibrated plates at your own gym. Tell the truth, do you think Thor would have lifted *less* in a competition? Less than Eddie can atm?
