    Ok I actually love unhauls. I always watch them and I don’t (pretty much as a rule) watch hauls anymore. It kind of feels like a waste of time hearing people talk about things they really don’t know anything about. But I think unhauls are super fun - I find it really interesting, actually, to know why someone doesn’t want to keep a book. It gives a gauge on your reading taste but also helps to decide which books to skip and not just always adding to the tbr 🙂

    As a big fan of A Discovery Of Witches, yes, it is basically adult Twilight. 🤣 In the first book at least. It’s more unique in the 2nd and 3rd though there’s a trigger warning for the 3rd book. And as someone who has experienced it both ways (show then book for S1, book then show for S2), it’s really a much better experience to watch the show first. Then read the book for added context because the show doesn’t have the time to explain everything.

    Call me by your name is one of the most beautifully written books. Whether you like the genre or not, reading Andre Aciman's works is an experience in itself. Absolutely agree, I think about this book often. I adored the movie and even though there were parts missing from the book, I think it was really well done. Also let's no allow the dumpster fire that is Armie's life and actions tarnished the movie or this history. I don't know if that's what Chandler is referring to, but I'm not aware of any other controversies surrounding this movie... 🤔🤔

  • @MissManicMellie

    @MissManicMellie

    @@julianamendes8802 the main controversy I’ve heard is the age gap within the story. A lot of people were uncomfortable with a teenager being sexually involved with a college student. The movie really riled those people up. Personally I think it’s a part of the coming of age narrative being constructed, but I understand the discomfort.

    I liked the Glittering Court, but I only read it because I had already bought it since I love Richelle Mead. It’s the kind of book that for me was a solid 3 star read - good, there’s intrigue, I read it in a day because I liked it but have barely thought about since. I felt 0 interest in continuing with the companion novels as I felt contended with what I already knew of the plot. It’s essentially a book I’d recommend if you feel like reading a book, and that’s basically your only request. It’s also non-magical fantasy which I think is a harshly criticized genre, but one I personally love.

    If you felt like a discovery of witches was too heavy, which I feel is the case for many people, the show condenses everything pretty neatly. It still skips and misses a bunch of stuff but that's to be expected with most adaptations. The show is visually stunning and most performances are pretty great and if any characters do interest you, the book then does provide a lot of details into literally everything.

    I have a question (whit no intention to offend) Why do some people like hard covers? I mean once you take the dust-jacket, it just a plain color and the name on the spine, and also the back cover doesn't say what the book is about. Maybe my question is more to the ones that have this hard covers because of the look, more than to people who get them because they like the format. Personally I prefer paperback editions cause make it easy to read it for me

    @@chandlerainsley Thank you for your answer, I do understand the feeling to want your books in the best way possible, and, of course hard covers do a better job in that than paperbacks editions, as I also try to keep them that way, and yeah sometimes the spine or a corner can get damage and can be annoying. It's just that I have seen videos where people say "look at the cover is gorgeus, I can't throw it away" or that they bought the book just because of that, and I think well if you take the dust-jacket then it's not that beautiful. Again I am not trying to shame anyone, it just a little thought that comes to my mind in those situations 😅. Thanks again and great video, actually the part of going back to the stroy with audiobook it's a great tip that I hadn't thought of and see myself doing it.

    Fireborne is dragon light. It's more political/class swap than dragons. Tho I haven't gotten to book 2 in the series yet so dunno if that changes.

    I felt the exact same way about Leah on the Offbeat. I found her to be so unlikeable that I could barely get through the book. I found parts somewhat interesting but then Leah would just bring me down or annoy me.

    I loved Evelyn Hugo, but Daisy Jones did NOT connect for me. It didn’t have the same magic and intrigue. I felt nothing.

    Literary fiction with a love story at the center you say? Have you read Love in the times of cholera, by Gabriel Garcia Marques? You should. It's romantic and exotic and fun and sexy... And great, great prose. Please try it. Not book tube worthy, but wonderful.

    @@AzleeBarasuri Oh, I have more. I'm a lit major with a love for romance so I tend to enjoy the best of both worlds. Also would recommend Jorge Amado's Dona Flor and her two husbands, Salman Rushdie's The ground beneath her feet and The moor's last sigh and The convent, by José Saramago. All these are among my favorite love stories.
