I have been drawing for years and don’t seem to be getting too far. There’s progress but it’s not fast like I feel like it should be. I’m hoping moving my drawings around in animatics might help give me some motivation to continue pursuing my dream of being an artist

hey! saw this reply and wanted to give a few tips and recommendations for videos that'll help you get that mindset, should you still want to be an artist three months later 1, don't be hard on yourself, draw what you like, you don't have to draw everyday and you don't have to create full illustrations, that leads to burnout very easily 2, try drawing regularily however, whether it be fanart, a landscape, trying out a cool idea you had just don't get stuck in the state of "this could be better" and "why am i not getting better". you get better as you practice, just like working out. you don't get an athlete's body after just a couple of pushups but you also don't get one just saying "man i want to excercise more" but not doing anything about it. think like this, "man i could've done better, i should look up a video on someone doing this and study it". i did it with the head turn, i took a video of myself doing exaggerated motions, made keyframes for that, then creating the breakdowns and inbetweens. even after that it looked wonky, so i looked up how to draw inbetweens and breakdowns, i learned about spacing and how moving the head a little further or back can make it seem slow or faster. here are some resources i recomend! illustration/general art kzread.info/dash/bejne/nWSpyNxwZbjceNY.html - sycra i recommend checking the follow up video as well as his others kzread.info/dash/bejne/aIiTj6aicd2_csY.html - Proko, this channel is literally a godsend. it's like a free art book and jumping off point for every subject kzread.info/dash/bejne/X4aIktKGiLqxl7g.html - ergojosh, isn't handholdy and directs you to even more resources kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZICsrLGSiMbZqqw.html - samdoesart, great artist, a bit hard to understand what he says sometimes but that might just be me kzread.info/dash/bejne/eKWOysRumLXZZco.html - Ethan Becker, funny while also educational more animation focused videos kzread.info/dash/bejne/q6J2p7CKeqW3kqg.html - ZamAnimation, their videos are sick, helped me a lot an d still do to this day kzread.info/dash/bejne/p3ilzKudeZfIdpc.html - AlanBecker's 12 principles of animation is the best place to begin kzread.info/dash/bejne/an5nm7WsnMqwo7Q.html - more principles so yeah! just do your research, instead of focusing too much on your mistakes, look up what you did wrong and find the solution rather than giving up and whining that you're not getting any better (not a dig at you, that's what i did). buy the ANIMATOR'S SURVIVAL KIT, it's the best book for animation and one you'll need for the rest of your career if you do continue but, watch this as well if you only think of art as a job. don't think art is your only way of doing anything creative, sometimes it's best to keep it a hobby and pursue other stuff. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pXyuzrChdZq8fps.html
