You always need a cutting gas. Oxygen or Nitrogen. Depends what you wanna cut. The Laser himself is just melting the steel. The gas does the cutting.

Kiss your eyes goodbye if you buy one of these. Laser cutting systems should ALWAYS be enclosed. The beam on the 4KW fiber laser I operate can blind you at a distance of over 150m. All it takes is a single random beam reflection. Oh, and this machine looks slow for a fiber laser!

I operated a Bystronic 4kW CO2 for a few years with no screen and didn't feel I needed that.

it helps if you look at the beam , and x rays just forget about it~ You need a shield for the work area bro. Now why not just go plasma on it? I would think the cost would be much lower. How does the pump diodes hold up and the fiber optic wire?

that's definitely not a CO2 laser, you can see that they are using a precitec lightcutter cutting head. thats for fibers only

Is this a real fiber machine? If yes, stay away of this machine. The wavelengths of a fiber laser will destroy your eyes. That's the reason why good manufactures of fiber machines are using special covers with a special glass. Search for Bystronic, Primapower or Trumpf Lasermachines with fiber lasers and you will see the difference.

Those laser machines are not collimated. They focus on a small spot, and when reflected laser travels longer than focal distance, they will diverge and disperse.
