500HP with an $800 Dollar Truck Engine!! Junkyard LS '64 Nova Build and Thrash!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

What happens when you take a $300 shortblock, $500 heads, and slap in a cam kit? BIG HORSEPOWER! In this episode, Tony Angelo and the Stay Tuned crew thrash on Barb's sweet '64 Nova and install a dirt cheap junkyard 6.0 LS (from our 5.3 vs 6.0 shootout ep), and an American Powertrain Tremec TKX! Will this thing rev to 7500 and absolutely annihilate tires? Stay Tuned to find out!

Mike Finnegan had to do this 12 years ago. Only sober rolling cameras. And if your hungover, still no cameras. He's gonna have to pick. His channel and his friends.... I’m not trying to be a kiss a** but, Stay Tuned is honestly one of the top car culture channels on the KZread’s! Tony’s blatantly obvious talent as a narrator throughout each video is a huge plus in my opinion. His years of television experience bleeds through, making each of their videos that much better. We all know how much a bad narrator/person explaining what’s happening in the video, can throw and ruin the entire vibe of the video. I think it’s so cool Tony has included his pals in the channel. He explains things in simple terms so anyone can understand, no matter their mechanical knowledge/background. Just want to say, I think it’s worth mentioning how far these guys have come in the short amount of time they have been posting content. I’m calling it now, this channel is going to continue to grow and become one of the big boys on the scene. Keep rocking dudes! 🤘🏼🇺🇸

For future reference for anyone that's installing new carpet and needs to cut out a section for their shifter or put some holes in for their seat mount bolts, the cleanest way to do it is to take a utility knife blade and clamp it into a vise grip, then heat it with a torch so it melts the edge of the carpet as you cut/melt through it...for bolt holes or wiring holes, use a bolt in a vise grip and heat up the head of it for a clean hexagon shaped hole...it stinks like hell, but you won't have to fuck around with carpet fuzzies or frayed edges...

Here’s the thing…LS swaps are awesome because they are attainable. Not everyone has the cash for 500” big block. The junk yard content is way more relatable for your average gear head. I’m in the middle of a LS chassis swap in a 1960 Apache shortbox on a 2006 Tahoe frame, I put a cam and headers on the 5.3, and it parties. Hands down the most fun of all the projects I have. So keep it up with the LS content. Maybe do a truck next!

Nice job on the nova guys! I just wanna say it's kinda silly to hate on the LS swap. Before the LS swap came around, the small block 350 350 combo was hated by all the haters. Customize your hot rod the way that makes you happy.

I definitely don’t hate LS engines or swaps. It just gets real boring on some channels and at the drag strip with the parade of Fox body Mustangs that have LS swaps. I just enjoy some creativity once in awhile like you putting a v12 in your Mustang. An LS in a GM product is very appropriate but not seen as much. Glad for Barb doing this. I’m old enough to have lived through the “everything needs an SBC phase of history” so this LS craze is not surprising. Making OEM parts better, faster and stronger is what hot rodder do. Love your content because you do so many diverse builds. Keep it up!

I love Barbs Nova. Beautiful piece of GM history. Its my favorite Car in the ST fleet. You guys should your own full chassis build, not just stick a aftermarket one under it, but get rails or make your own rails, use parts whatever. We all know how bad Novas need a full chassis. They should call Novas Flexispots. That would be some dope episodes.

I’m a mopar man … but this video shows how much fun the average guy can have with a street car that “only” has 500 hp. People are jaded now , because of the crazy power available off the showroom floor. The down side of that , is those “showroom” cars are beyond what the average guy can afford. I’d love to buy a hellcat or a demon…. I just don’t have over 90 grand to get one. Novas are light cars. 500 hp in a light car , is REALLY fun !!
