It IS 4wd so that's gonna add a lil weight. A car being turbo also probably adds some weight too.

same but the stock smart is not light perse and with this huge engine and better/heavier components i can see it reach that... sadly.

Smart Forfour basic empty weight is 970kg, M111 basic engine weight is 167kg i am impressed that they keept it under 1200kg, oh and 4wd, thats really cool

@@KarimAkors oh wow! That an even heavier engine that I expected. Where did you find/know that number if I may ask. Would love to find more info about engine weight in general.

So stoked to see this insane little car back in action, hats of to Niko for sticking with the M111 turbo. Not many M111 turbos in motorsports (normally cause they blow up 🤣) awesome coverage as always guys thank you 😃👍

I remember Niko driving his grey E36 M3 Gr.A @ Falperra during the mid 90's... great driver and car. This project is pretty interesting too!

Coming from a builders perspective, I have to imagine it probably makes fabrication & packaging of that drivetrain a lot easier than if it was shoehorned into a ForTwo.

Smart and Mitsubishi Colt share the same platform. I love Mitsu, but cool that they build something based on Merc engine instead of 4g63 or 4B11. 👍

It’s good that it’s weight has been kept to a minimum with all the parts being quite heavy gear 4WD gear box and extra fabricated parts

@@ryano8613 ​ Because I have been with the Niko owner/driver of the car and the whole team for a few days on a hill climb race in the Montenegro, I was actually in his team. This car has nothing to do with smart forfour...everything is custom made and its worth a small fortune

I hope electric cars don’t triumph over combustion. I drove a kart that’s electric with my kid. Zero excitement for either of us, no high rev, no exhaust fumes, and no throttle control it was open or closed an sucked. This is what driving a responsive auto is all about. This little toy race car here can make every person smile who rides. Tesla took that joy away. Even though they make a great car an do great for the planet they suck for driving experiences. Imagine all this driving silent an quite there is zero exhilaration

For anyone that doesn't know, it's 1200 kilograms, bec. his balls are heavy.
