Exactly, cuz the amount of garbage the mainstream releases is mind boggling.

Here’s what I experienced. My friends would go chase death, I’d go rhyme, then go be a dummy after, but I always felt it was my best option in life to really spit these bars. Nothing else was a fit. As soon as open mics and freestyle competitions faded in Phx, a lot of us went off the deep end. I just say keep spitting ya bars and being smart about your life and your grind.

I'm a 44 YO white male from the south shore of montréal, canada. I was a teen in the 90's and listened to a lot of rap. I used to rap too but i was not a street dude so there's a lot about the politics and mentality involved in hiphop that i didn't understand ( not coming from a tuff neighbourhood ) I like this show because it gives me just that... a better understanding of hiphop and black american culture. Salute

They talking about fun forgetting all the drama on tours only when Eric took his group N.W.A on the road, when Pac was on your fighting mfs and shooting off duty cops, Ghostface Killah slappin mfs and Lil Cease running to the car for gun when Biggie performed in Harlem. Just to add to your point brother. In the 90s the term “studio gangsta” came around. So first ppl wanted artists to be artists and not really living the life they talk about.
