50 round, 12 Gauge Shotgun tray works great for a loading tray for the BMG, almost a perfect fit. I'm still waiting to find primers to be available. I use the Wilson Pocket Trimmer to remove the crimps, works awesome. Also, I splurged for the Dillon Priming Die, works so awesome. Glad to see you are finally able to test this out. Would love to see a segment trying the Cutting Edge Bullets for the BMG.

Never seen .50 BMG powder before; it's massive! I'd love to add a rifle like that to my collection, but I don't have anywhere near me that I can stretch its legs out. Working towards getting some land in a rural area where I can shoot long distance on the regular. I really like the technical flair of this channel. Watching people magdump is fun for a while, but this really gives you something to think about. ❤️

I suggest removing the expander ball on the deprimer when you FL size, then running the ball through on a second pass. Pulling the ball through from the neck after sizing it down will pull the case out of round compared to expanding through the mouth first.

@Ultimatereloader polish the expander ball and keep the momentum going on the upstroke of the handle. This is what has worked well for me doing brass for my M2. I also use a home built walnut hill press to size. You will need a stout bench, I weigh down a butcher block top bench with pulled bullets.

Hi Gavin, I had a problem resizing 7x61S&H brass that had just been annealed. What was happening was, if it removed the expander ball the cases would chamber ok, but with the expander ball in place the cases wouldn't chamber. So I think the expander ball was stretching the neck out when drawing it back out of the case. The necks were lubed inside.

I loaf up my 50BMG with Somchem B12.7 powder (204gr) and Impala solid copper bullets - 650gr rounds. Have the Triebel dies but haven't been very impressed with them. I went back to my Lee 50BMG set which still works brilliantly. Looking at how much physical effort Gavin put in to size the cartridges, and I use Lapua brass in my 50BMG, just wasn't worth it, especially when you're doing large volumes of rounds at a time. Also just a note - the Triebel dies don't fit in the Zero reloading press, you need something like a Prassi Press or a Lee 50BMG press. But helluva fine rife to shoot with.

Those Triebel die are nice. However, when you initially demonstrated the RCBS Ammomaster 50 BMG Pack it had all the RCBS die. Did you see a performance difference between the RCBS and Triebel die sets? Were the rounds you reloaded with the the RCBS die not as consistent or not as precise? I am definitely going to purchase the 50 BMG reloading press pack just wondering if it is worth it to get these other die to have a better quality reload or if the RCBS will be equivalent.

I'd love to reload all my fired 50 brass, but the primer pocket crimp removal step needing a lathe (or some other special tool) turns an expensive project, with all the dyes and special press, into one out of reach. Plus there's the complete lack anywhere of 50BMG primers to boot. I was curious on lack of a brass annealing step. Seems like annealing would be critical for sub-moa low MV spread results. I also noted you didn't show the MVs from the Garmin xera. I know my Burstfire propane torch annealer wouldn't accommodate the 50 case size, so either some kind of induction annealer? The Hornady 50 bmg AMAX at $9/each will have to do. And I use the 'cheap' $5/rnd PMC 660 gr ammo for plinking.

Really awesome video. Some minor things to say is it's really annoying trying to get primers (still in 2024). Your Triebel dies are hard to get in Canada too (maybe easier in US). Finally, I have used Imperial sizing wax, no luck because it just won't work on my Forster sizing dies. I have to use Hornady case lube or anything really wet and greasy or it will become a stuck case.

Reloading for the same rifle that had fired the cases you'll probably be better off just neck sizing the cases. Full length sizing works the necks quite a lot and all that effort needed to pull the sizing ball back through the neck is not good for concentricity or brass life. Would have liked to see how much run-out you had after seating? My 'good' ammo is always kept below .006" while anything over that is 'rock blaster' quality. My AR-50 really likes the A-Max over 220 grains of 5010 so I'm thinking you'll tighten up your groups with a bit more powder. The normal 50 BMG bullets are wobbling a bit as they come out of the muzzle and take some distance to settle down so it's totally normal to see tighter 200-500 yard grouping (in MOA) than at just 100 where the bullets can be going through the paper at a bit of an angle. I really do love shooting the 50's...but have found that I had to restrict my round count because the concussion is not good for your body and can and will do damage if you expose yourself to too much of it.
