    In his defense, he did call the intercooler the radiator lol! I just got my GRC Circuit 10 days ago, chose it over a 2023 M3 with 1,400 miles. I love the M but just sold my M4 about a year ago and wanted something different and didn’t want a $90k car with the insane interest rates right now. I’ve had every chassis of the M3/M4 from E36-Current unfortunately haven’t got my hands on a E30 M3 yet. But this GRC Circuit is one of my favorite and best driving cars ever. May not be as fast or “flashy” but damn is it soooo good. It’s purpose built and I love it, everything you need and nothing you don’t. Great experience so far for my first Toyota!

    The load floor is high due to the strut based rear suspension on all Corolla models including the normal hatchbacks. It was part of the plan to improve the handling dynamics with this generation of Corolla. They moved the battery pack to the rear due to the intake and engine placement with the 3 cylinder.

    re: highway fuel economy, the gearing isn't tall enough. sadly that's true of a lot of manual trans cars these days. if this car were hovering closer to 2k rpms @ 75-80mph, the mpg would improve significantly.

  • @NEMotoGuy
    @NEMotoGuy3 ай бұрын

    As an owner of a 23 CE for almost a year now couple items to note. 1) The MPG's you achieve seem odd to me. I have been able to get close to 350 miles per tank on average when driving the car mixed city and highway with some spirited driving as well. When in sport and spent driving hard, I can see about 250 miles per tank, which is still pretty good for an AWD turbo. 2) The center armrest is really not an issue or problem at all. Once you own and daily drive it, you realize you never need it or have your arm resting in that area. Like others have mentioned there are aftermarket quick/cheap and simple solution if you really want one. 3) I think there is a misconception from many people/journalists thinking in 30/70 torque split the car should kick out. It's not the case at all. The 30/70 rear bias torque split is just meant to provide a more rear bias torque direction when going through corners, while staying planted. Not necessarily to kick loose and drift. This car is meant to be planted on and off track. In snow and dirt/gravel you can definitely get the rear to kick out and have fun there. Nice review overall, cheers!

  • @NEMotoGuy

    @NEMotoGuy

    3 ай бұрын

    @@dwnshft Not yet actually. I do have my free one year NASA track day from Toyota, coming up soon. I plan to test it out then. From what I have been hearing from owners on the overheating issue. It's the rear diff sensor that gets overheated due to placement right next to the exhaust pipe. Also, only really occurs during 30/70 spilt with more heat/stress on the rear diff. When I upgraded my exhaust I ended up wrapping the sensor with gold reflecting plating just in case. I have pushed the car on back roads with no issue, but that obviously isn't as harsh as full constant track driving. We shall see. Cheers!

    Maybe this will get read or not but 🤷🏽‍♂️my two cents as a GRC owner with 11k miles: 🤔 car is an absolute underrated beast. It claims to be a “track” car but not really…..to be used also in the hwy. In reality you get a track car for the hwy. Yes it is small lol totally agree with what you said on the interior. But where it lacks in interior design and space it gets totally compensated by driving experience. If you are (for those drivers that know what i mean) an experienced swimmer through hwy traffic then this car man is a secret weapon. Disguised with a corolla badge 🤣. I have pushed the car to its top speed and taking curves at double or triple digit numbers and it just eats it all up. Swimming through traffic at 11 mph, 12 mph, 13…. Amazing performance. The car is not meant to be cruised at in the 70s for that buy a regular corolla S. I have taken it on a 2 hr trip with all smiles and a 7 hr trip and those were the most 7 engaging hrs! that keeps you awake with a smile. Thats why so many enthusiasts/collectors were paying the mark ups. The car was not meant to compete with the M340 lol in a straight line nope not no 0-60 not no 0-100. You dont wanna clutch dump it. But in a hwy(especially with curves) in an experienced driver’s hands that GRC will easily outtake the bmw due to its size and power to ratio to fit between other cars. And the fact that a corolla 🤣 can keep up with the big boys in a hwy with curves or traffic is jaw dropping lol who wouldve ever thought you’d see a corolla passing you by at 120-130 🤣

    Live in Canada and I went with the Integra Type S. I've never felt the absolute need to get AWD and as you stated the Type R platform is a better all rounder if you don't care as much about losing the back end, the Type R and ITS will walk the GR Corolla and feel more powerful in most scenarios besides a dead stop or slow turns. I enjoy the creature comforts and nicer interior space of the ITS as well with the extra insolation and huge cargo space, I was considering a Golf R as well but it doesn't feel as special of a car which I do value when spending over $50,000 on a daily commuter. Great Video, I enjoy watching this series!

    For me it came down to the GR Corolla having AWD, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and a real hand brake, which the Civic Type R had none of these things. I added an armrest and I didn't want a Circuit Edition as I didn't care about the CF roof, the hood, or the alcantara seats. I've had way too many GR86 owners tell me they hate the alcantara seats and that they are so hot in the summer. I actually prefer the cloth seats of my loaded 2023 Core as they are cool in the summer, will hold up better, and are much easier to clean. I'm concerned about the main bits, and mechanically my loaded Core is exactly the same as the Circuit Edition. I absolutely love my 23 GRC and it doesn't have the nasty looking parking sensors that the 24 models have! And just FYI, it's called Blue Flame, not Blue Flair. You sure love it, personally, I think it's the worst looking color on the GRC.

    Haha! It's sticking. I've been pushing the name "Grolla" for months. TheGrolla has been my insta for months. Nissan may have Godzilla, but Toyota has King Kong, AKA the "Grolla." Now go get yourself a decent pitch stop mount and some shifter linkage bushings. You'll feel so much better about the shift feel then (no more missing)... And when you find yourself in low traction conditions. You're feelings about traction will change. The Grolla was made for the wild. I'm setting up for wet traction in the PNW. So far, I'm impressed.

    My main complaint is that the differential clutch pack overheats when tracked for 15 minutes... I agree with the comments on fuel economy and car battery placement. Toyota should have left the battery in the front to allow the ability to have a temp spare for an emergency flat tire. The 6th gear could have been made taller, reducing engine rpms and improving fuel economy for the highway.

    Battery to the trunk is worth it. If they didn't do it I would (I moved it in my S3). It handles great, but its all understeer... Stiffer rear swaybar and some different springs should handle that. The poor fuel economy is a surprise, so far I'm getting around 10mpg in town but its brand new. I got great mileage in my highly modified S3. Golf R makes more sense and is a much nicer car, but this is more raw fun, makes all kinds of amusing noises and the total grip on stock tires is quite impressive - Its like a teenager modified a stock Corolla.

    I agree...never pay more than msrp. Use car shopping websites to find good dealers with no markup and print out internet pricing. Dealer must honor the price...otherwise it is false advertising which is illegal.

    So, it would be amazing if it was a completely different car? The 3 cylinder is what makes this special and stand out. There are plenty of 4 popper turbos out there to choose from already. From your wish list, it sounds like the Golf R would suit you better.

    4:30 20-21 mpg highway? I call bullshit unless you were at 85+ mph the whole trip and flooring it nonstop. Easily got 28-30 mpg on my way home from the dealer (350 mile return trip).

    @@breaks_n_stuff4049fine, but why doesn't Toyota make an armrest? Some weird decisions on their part with this car. The stupid battery placement being the biggest gripe, and no armrest, and the dashboard design that basically makes the car feel so cramped. I had a fiesta ST previously, and that car felt so much more roomy inside, which says a lot 🤭 ....Yes, I'm angry, LOL, if it wasn't for the interior feeling so cramped, my wife would have been fine with a GRC I had a deposit on 😆
