    Fascinating story. I agree with that there's a deeper meaning behind all these things. We just don't know the whole story. Many think vikings were just a bunch of tough guys, only drinking mead and fighting others. But there's clearly a spiritual side to it. Runic magic and witchcraft are typical examples. Presumably some of the stone labyrinths found in old viking sites might be physical representations of exploring the brain/mind. I have heard about the possibility that old Norse culture had their beliefs inspired from other cultures. And since they were experienced seafarers that crossed great distances, it's likely they encountered hinduism at some point in their travels. That idea about Kali Yuga is pretty original. I never thought of that, but it makes sense if these cultures were connected in the distant past. Maybe all these old pagan religions once existed in their respective areas, but traded philosophical ideas when they encountered each other. It could explain a few things. The older generation of gods known as Vanir, could possibly be remnants from an even older religion which worshipped them in some unknown way. If only there was more written about these old cultures so we could understand them better.

    Those who have left rude comments here: This is ELLE's video, and these are HER thoughts on Valhalla. You don't have to agree, you don't have to like it - but please respect the fact that this is her interpretation of what Valhalla is. You are welcome to your own. Also, she hasn't made videos in ages and many people are very worried and concerned for her well-being. So have some respect, please. Go make your own video on Valhalla if you're so triggered.

    It is the hall of the CHOSEN dead, we all face personal battles but if you die from a battle of depression (commit suicide) what has that person done to prove they can fight at Ragnarok, Valhalla is in essence an army barrack for soldiers to prepare for the battle of Ragnarok, that person will likely end up in Hel and that's not a bad thing! The hall of ancestors is a fitting place for most but valhalla is not.

    People talking about “Valhalla is about being a warrior or soldier” times change, that’s not viable in this day and age, people can’t die in battle as readily nowadays, not everyone is eligible to join the military, and not everyone in the military dies in battle, and there are very few other ways to die in a form of battle with honor, these days dying a warriors death is more of a mental and spiritual thing, I personally believe that it means dying as a warrior in less physical ways, suicidal thoughts, abusive homes and lives, it takes a real warrior to survive these battles, it’s about spirit more than actual battle

  • @andyroth1456

    @andyroth1456

    5 жыл бұрын

    No, doesn't work like that. Valhalla is just for warriors, no and or but about it. The rules don't change, Odin made how he wants it, not how we want it. If you truly believe in Norse heathenism then you will not question it. And no, mental and spiritual battles are not the same as a physical battle. Most of you guys don't understand what Valhalla is really used for, it's a training ground for Odin's army. An army, as in combat. He wants warriors who can fight in combat.

  • @Cam-rz4zd

    @Cam-rz4zd

    5 жыл бұрын

    Andy Roth How do you expect people to die like a warrior when most forms of combat these days are illegal or dishonorable? Back in those days that makes sense but dying like a warrior isn’t available to the majority of people, less than 1% of people join the military, cut that 1% into 5 branches, cut that into people who see combat, and cut that into people who die in combat, personally I believe there’s more to it than just dying from combat

  • @andyroth1456

    @andyroth1456

    @@Cam-rz4zd The truth, 99.9% of us won't go to Valhalla. As for me, I'm not going to Valhalla, which is great. Valhalla is not our heaven, we have no heaven, it's not like Christianity where you have heaven for the good people and hell for the bad. There are many different places one can go in the afterlife, and even our Hel is not a bad place, but there is a place in our Hel for the most evil people.

  • @Cam-rz4zd

    @Cam-rz4zd

    Andy Roth I understand what you mean, but I do personally believe it’s more grey area than just strict black and white, I feel like it’s more than just dying like a warrior, it’s possible to live like a warrior without dying like one

    @andyroth1456

    @@Cam-rz4zd First, I don't understand why everyone wants to enter the Hall of Valhalla. Do you understand why Odin made Valhalla for? He is getting prepared for Ragnarök, and Valhalla is like a training ground for his army. That is why he wants warriors, real warriors who can fight. Anyone can live with honor, which is more important to the gods.

    I've only been heathen for about a year now, I have much more to learn obviously. I do think that a lot of people who are heathen focus to much on getting to Valhalla. Ultimately it's the gods will where we go in the afterlife, we have no say in it. It's a good thing to aspire to but I think it's more important to live life in the moment to gain/ maintain a good reputation and honor. I'd be happy wherever I end up, even helheim. I had to stop this video as the anurism was about to pop. This is the crap and those that think like this will gladly be seen in hel. Warriors go to Valhalla not people just living their lives. Warriors like soldiers, special forces in fact not some person who suffered a fatal sickness or injury. Depending on their lives they'll go to other halls. Odin only picks those who would be best for ragnorok to fight you'll only end up in helheim for living a megger life.

    How do you know that the Gods haven't changed? It's not about being a warrior physically it's about being a warrior in the soul. And in history it just translated as being a physical warrior but as times changed people changed and don't think that the Gods don't change. They do too. Even if the basic construct is the same. The Gods allow people to translate what a warrior is in thier own way. And to me with the way the planet currently is people are having more spiritual battles that show in a physical way. And during the most hardest times for people it takes a warriors soul to get through it which I believe still counts. Would you deny someone who died fighting for their life in An abusive relationship the chance at Valhalla? What about someone fighting cancer or any kind of sickness that can kill when they have done everything they could do to fight it. Or people that go through very hard times and choose not to give up. It's that not the soul of a warrior? Something to think about. And it's ok if you don't agree.

    @@GarmrWolfFang Very well put. Someone who has overcome cancer or life threatening disease has as much merit as any other "warrior". The amount of mental strength (let alone physical strength) one needs to overcome these things is staggering and shouldn't be dismissed as a hero, based on not being a meat head warrior with a sword. Personally, It helps me overcome my own health issues which plague me every God damn day. Something more like me. Heaven? That's ok for some maybe, but passing st peter's gold gates in the clouds and bunnies and crap isn't for me. So something like Valhalla, even if it's only a thought, helps alot. Thanks for standing your ground on your ideas. You're obviously not alone in your opinions. =)

    what? you have to be slain as a warrior to enter Valhall. it has nothing to do with your "personal battles", and its not even debated. dying any other way brings you to Hel.

    @Mighty Fist Of Zeon! No, no, Valhalla is for warriors only, you must be slain in combat only. It doesn't depend on who you ask, Odin is a war god he real warriors not some guy who commits suicide. Valhalla is a place where Odin gets his army ready for Ragnarök. In Valhalla you fight with each other all day and drink and eat at night.

    @Mighty Fist Of Zeon! Yes it is set in stone, different tribes have the same belief of Valhalla. There is only one Valhalla, one way gets in. Do you understand why Odin have Valhalla and have warriors in it? He is getting ready for the final battle of Ragnarök.

    @Mighty Fist Of Zeon! 99.9% of people will not go to Valhalla. Why the hell everyone want to go to Valhalla? There are many other places to go afterlife, and even Hel is not a bad place. So where is your proof that there are varying different beliefs on getting into Valhalla? I read many of the Sagas, both of the Eddas and many other texts on Norse, those that have Valhalla in it, say the same thing. As far as I know states the same thing, if you have something else, then show to me, and if you're right I will agree.

    This is so wrong. The idea that humans are anything more than cannon fodder for ragnarok makes no sense. Why creat mankind to be have a journey of discovery. Life is and should be hard and cruel, those who endure it and still make honourable and moral choices will be the ones who are let into Odins hall. Only those who can do what is right when doing so will cause them harm and sufering can be trusted to not to turn and run in the face of ragnarok.

    BS. The battlefield is planet earth. Who we are inside determines where we stand on the battlefield. And it also determines whether we survive or not.
