I am all about the fedora hats as a man in today’s society. Most men I know won’t wear fedora hats but rather baseball hats. They even tell me that they wouldn’t look good in them and I understand and respect the fact they love baseball hats.

Super helpful video - recently moved to a much sunnier climate and it's too damn bright out to not wear wide brim hats, but don't want to look like a dork.

Just got my first fedora today for a concert. Black with red under the bottom with black shoes with red bottoms.thanks for ideas on how to rock it 😊

Gave a Stetson short brim fedora away to my friend, it fits her and she has the fashion chops to rock it. Have a Stetson triple x three inch brim that fits left.

These hats have been around for over 100 years, and they're still awesome. Some things never die out. I'm considering buying one myself, but it's hard finding the right one to fit me.

The sneakers look was exactly what I was looking for.

I thoroughly enjoyed this and have been informed a little more on hats and how to style them on me as a female. I have a hat collection growing but I need to replace a couple with some good quality stiffer rims hat.. I do have a hat I put on with everything (well spent $200) 😂 😂, but I have notice not all hats go with every outfit... I do have style. This was so sexy, classy, sporty and edgy. Thank you. My favorite style was the final one . That is pretty much how I dress anyway . On casual events - I rock the Open Road Silverbelly with cattlemen crease , Flannel shirt open Raw Denim pants selvedge cuffed Red Wings 8” Moc Toe boots Brown leather belt with Brass buckle And if it’s chilly I’ll wear my Carhartt Chore Coat ( original Carhartt Brown ). Can you picture that ?? Classier events : Black leather jacket Black sweater White tshirt Black jeans Black boots ( Chippewa engineer boots ) Topped off with Black 3X Fedora or the Silverbelly Open Road . ( they both work ). Every day life I’m in some sort of hat . I can pull off the Open Road just wearing a tshirt and jeans . Have not tried wearing with shorts though ( I usually wear a straw fedora type hat in the Warmer months ). Might change it up . Thanks for this awesome video . My gramps have a dark red color fedora with some silver design in it around the band...like a dragon biting it's tail, Ouroboros meaning cycle of our family, after he passed away....I start wearing his fedora last week and I was dressed in a wind bresker jacket, jeans and a sneakers all black....people in the park looking at me....then I meet up with my friend he told me I looked like a criminal........ I never wear the hat since haha

I received a short-brimmed fedora as a Christmas present and have been looking for more opportunities to wear it. Although my parents believe it's strange to wear it for anything other than formal events (as it was initially intended for a prom suit), I have developed a fondness for it. This video has helped me in my quest. I think men should start wearing hats more often, besides just the everyday baseball cap.

What a great video! The casual looks are amazing - just what I was looking for. I'd welcome a video on modern hat etiquette. Etiquette seems to stem from the days when hats were utilitarian rather than fashion or "statement" pieces. This video mentions "upscale lounges", suggesting these might be exceptions to the traditional etiquette of gents hat removal indoors. Traditionally ladies hats have been fashion or statement items, and they are not removed. Should gents hats now receive equal treatment? If so, are there exceptions - eg indoor restaurant dining?

Dear Mr. Mcaskill, This is such a wonderful comment, we wanted to make the time to properly address it. One of our founders actually worked in fine dining during earlier parts of his career, and he was always asked to remove his fedora, while dining in the very restaurant he worked for. Unfortunately there is a very primitive approach and line of thinking when it comes to men's fedoras. Sadly, it's viewed as a sign of 'disrespect' when a gentleman is wearing a hat indoors. This is definitely some sort of 'outdated' norm from the old days. A fedora is a statement piece and is part of a man's wardrobe & ensemble. As such, he should never be asked to, or required to take it off. Women are never asked to take of their heels, make up, or any articles of clothing for any event are they? Lastly, we'd strongly argue that in these very situations you've brought to light, Gentlemen wearing fedoras look far more put together than the average male customer, and it's by far the simplest way to dress up any outfit. It shows that they actually put some thought into their appearance. And so why is it, that these upstanding citizens, are being penalized for their class and sense of style, we wonder? 🤔. Ironically, these should be the customers, that most establishments welcome, as they up the standard and elegance of the environment. Here at Southern Gents, we ALWAYS get compliments while attending events or dining places. This rule is simply outdated and need to be done with, in our opinion. In conclusion, we humbly suggest men of all ages wear their favorite fedoras wherever they please, and when asked to remove them, ask to speak to a manager and demand a plausible explanation for the request. We've certainly put this to action here in Houston, and the response has always been "Nevermind sir, thank you for coming...we'll get you seated right away" 😎

Hi Dee, The Trilby is supposed to have a "snap" brim (slightly curved) and a straight flat brim like our Geoffery Fedora pictured above. The Trilby brim should not be straightened as this would damage the hat. The Trilby is a great hat to pair casually with sneakers, shorts, or a vest for dinner and nightime events. It definitely ranks high on the list of most versatile and form fitting fedoras. Great choice sir! 🍺

Can my fedora protect me from the sun as much as my Akubra catlemans style hat? I want the style but I feel I need to wear a larger brimmed style outside. I think it really is the small brim that gives you that fedora style.

A medium width fedora can protect you from the sun, but it's honestly more of a style element. For sun protection we'd recommend a wide vented straw hat. For classic style and indoor summer evenings, opt for a classy wool fedora such as the one in the video. Cheers! 🍻
