Yes, taking the drawings too seriously. I find myself making excuses why I'm not drawing and what it boils down to is I'm avoiding the disappointment of a failed drawing. To help get past this I have inexpensive simple supplies, easily accessible which helps eliminate the intimidation and laziness factors, and draw a lot! Mess one up? Don't dwell on it. Quickly move on to the next one. It may be great. Thanks for your tips. I like the idea of picking one subject and drawing it for a week.

Hey Diane, this is super well said. I think most of us out here can agree on what you said and pointed out haha. I know I've felt all of those things, even to do this day too. Still working on it sometimes, nobody's perfect. Thanks for sharing these. Super helpful. Hope the art is going well! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I know exactly what you're talking about =))))) and I'm grateful that you talked about it. when you said "why it's so hard for us to draw everyday **as artists** ", I was like "owww god O forgot I am an ARTIST and I'm here to create ". =)))) Thanks for reminding me.
Wow I really needed this, this just came at the perfect time for me. Over the past year or so I’ve taken drawing and art a lot more seriously, in the first few months of the year I was drawing everyday, overtime though I started to lose focus and became really busy and found it extremely hard to get back into a schedule. I thought once summer came I would have more time to just work on my art but I really just ended up procrastinating more. We definitely put up a lot of unnecessary mental borders and I hate feeling guilty for not working on my art then I start to feel like I’m falling behind my peers or squandering my opportunities at pursing art in the future, but it’s ultimately all in my head, once I sit down and start drawing again that fear goes away and I feel satisfied with myself, more than anything I should remember that I draw and create for myself, anything else is secondary

Very well said. I'm glad you found this helpful for you. You pretty much explained the mindset of so many artists most likely. Such a great sense of self-awareness and accountability. Perfectly said.
There's basically no way you can draw every day and not get better. I have cerebral palsy, so I always thought I'd never be able to draw at all. Since I started at 39, I've missed maybe 5 days. Now I'm doing identifiable portraits relatively quickly(though speed doesn't matter so much)

To be honest Drawing is the best thing to do It can lead you to success and give you a meaning of your life Drawing will always be with you no matter what. But what about animating lol

For sure, I agree :) I think there's no difference for animating too. It's just moving drawings.

Sometimes I draw, and I feel the need to, rather than come up with the initial sketch myself, trace the sketch. Ik tracing isn't bad, but if I don't branch out, I feel like I'm hindering growth. I don't want the silhouette to look bad, so I trace it... I didn't used to either, but now I found the feature on procreate, so I feel the need to use it. I fear other ppl looking at it and it not being perfect, even tho I don't have any plans to show anyone my library. It's purely for me. Any help anyone can provide would be fantastic
@SchaeferArt

Well this seems all in your mind bro. You kind of answered your own question I think. You trace it because the feature is there on Procreate and you're afraid of others judging you - even though your art is only for you. The only way to overcome this is to not care about what others think. Don't value others opinions on your art more than your own. And then, don't use a feature just because it's there. Stop tracing it and just draw it out. Even if it's not perfect - who cares. No drawing is supposed to be perfect. It's a drawing. It's about having fun and creating a piece of art with your own mind and hands :) You can do it man. Moving forward. Try tracing on only 50% of your drawings. So basically, every other drawing. Start slowly getting yourself away from tracing. Have fun bro!
Wasting time in things that don't matter 😔 how true ❤

I'm not sure if you've done a video on it or not, but as an artist have you ever been over-motivated? like the opposite of having no motivation? I recently started feeling motivated with my art again but my issue is I have way too many ideas. I have ideas for 100's of separate images and I have no idea where to start or which one to draw. It's not that I'm lacking confidence at all I just have so many ideas it goes full circle and unmotivates me because I surely cannot finish so many images that fast! I want to work on all of them and get them done fast but that is not humanly possible .- . have you ever had this? thank you for your videos that really helped me put perspective on things like patience.
@SchaeferArt

I've never made a video on this but I know what you mean for sure. I think the best thing to try to do would be to list out the images you want to draw or create and try to prioritize as best as possible. Easier said than done but must be done :)
somtimes i dont draw everyday then after three weeks if i am bored i draw then i lose my abillty to sketch and its gets hard
@SchaeferArt
2 жыл бұрын
I understand. That's why consistency is so important. You don't have to draw everyday, because that may cause burn out.. but if you can draw a few times a week, like 2 to 4 times, even if only for 5-10 minutes, then it'll be better for nothing :) Just do your best. Don't be hard on yourself

I would love to follow you, but I hope that when drawing like this rabbit, you teach us the technique of drawing his body step by step because I am still a beginner and I cannot go to places of learning because my father is poor😢💔💐💐

I will try my best
For me it is doubting my ability to draw, or ability to learn and improve my drawing skills. And the other is I do kind of take it too seriously. I'm afraid of ruining a good sheet of paper. But I'm doing my best to overcome these obstacles and making time to draw at least 15 minutes.

Being a lazy slob who spends most of his time procrastinating is a global problem nowadays, when you don’t have particular goals in life, it is difficult to justify why you need to do something difficult, i draw for example because it is making me stronger, as it is a skill tough to develop, for someone there could be another reason, but there must be some for it to make sense!
