It is beautiful to witness I agree. And very moving. It's a shame that in the so called land of the free you really are not able to live "free". God bless you girl and hopefully one day we can all break bread and dance together in our own backyards on this soil called the USA. But until then I'll get my full in you tube. #2blessed2Bstressed #inallhisglory... ✌️🙂💜🙏

I’m AA and number 3 definitely reminded me of being in church and seeing people who had felt the Holy Spirit start shouting. Notice that the black church is the only church where you will see people shouting just like the dances that the women are doing in the this video. Just goes to show you that no matter where we are scattered across the globe we are all connected spiritually.

Exactly! I’m glad I’m not the only one that sees the connection between black church shouting(especially Pentecostal) and dances from west Africa(specifically number 3 from Senegal).I’m a dude and you don’t usually see men shout in church but very seldom I do and I start dancing just like them in number 3 and my arms start doing the chicken wing thing🤷🏾‍♂️😂I swear there’s some things that really won’t leave our DNA. We really been dancing like this since we left west Africa 400 years ago and that’s really crazy🔥😂

@Mae Mitchell I'm looking at the opportunity to control our own economic strength potential too with our own people too. There is land to build on and people more accepting of us in Africa. We tried for 300+ years to coexist peacefully with Caucasians in America, bro its a wrap and its time to go. Charge all we have done here to the game and let's get the hell out of here.

I am apart of the African diaspora (specifically labeled African American, born in raised in Charleston,SC) and I can really feel a connection to many of these dances. The sound and movement lets me know that we (Africans) as a whole are SPIRITUAL people. I automatically feel a spiritual connection - rhythmically. I visited Nigeria in 2017 & I hope to make another trip to several more African countries next year 2021.

Jaandheer means big leap or a big step in Somali. It is a happy dance, played in most Somali weddings and festive occasions. It also features a complex spinning move, which can leave you dizzy after several tries! Syalici originated from the town of Zeila in northern Somaliland.

For the past week, I have been obsessed with traditional dances from all cultures and tribes. If any of my black American brothers and sisters are here, and you feel some type of way when hearing and watching these dances it is because of the beat of the drums. Yes, the words are beautiful but the beat of the drums is in our D.N.A, do you ever wonder why the dances like the Electric slide or any line dance makes us run to the dance floor? Dancing in rhythm/ in formation with a group is in our D.N.A.

I am soooo very, very proud to be of African descent!! If I had to come again as any race I could, I would choose to be Black all over again. Everything that we are is because of where we came from.

I would really like information about Malagasy music. When I was a student in England in the 80s a Malagasy group came and gave a concert that really impressed me with its liveliness. And Madagascar belongs to the continent of Africa!

I love all these dances, they also remind me of the dances we do in the pacific islands, the ceremonial dances.

this is a beautiful heritage, and this is just 5 of thousands that inhabit the mighty Africa. that move at 0:19, I didn't know its a contemporized traditional dance!
