5 TIPS to RANK UP with Moira in Overwatch 2

Ойындар

Many people have asked for a video like this, and I've finally caved in! I'm one of the highest ranked Moira players on the ladder with over 6000 hours put into the hero.
Many people come and watch the streams and will immediately try to emulate how I play the hero, but there's some fundamentals that you should really make sure you've nailed before you work on the more advanced techniques.
With this video, I aim to show you the areas which many people can improve on, but more importantly, areas that will literally win additional games.

    Hey Arx, if you're looking for suggestions, I've been looking for years for an OW2 Moira 1 Tip Vs. Every Hero Guide if you think that would be fun. Some heroes are really tricky for me like Winston and Pharah. I'd love your insight on how you take these heroes on

    #5 is definitely something I should do more often. It's true, you can heal your team all you want but sometimes you need a distraction at difficult times where nothing is changing. Thank you Arx!

    #5 is why I love playing Moira. Her crazy mobility & survivability makes her so good at creating game utility beyond her numbers. Stalling a point, chasing down an annoying character, distracting a critical enemy, baiting out cooldowns - she’s such an interesting support, I love playing her.

  • @ImDefinitelyreal

    The idea of distracting both of their healers is so genius, its almost a guaranteed way for my team to win fights and the best part is once your team has gotten a pick or two you can fade right back to them.

    Great tips video! Point #5 really brought it home regarding your decision making process in your videos. Explaining how you can take away value from the enemy team by targeting and distracting certain roles really emphasizes the point about being intentional about your plays. I think many get caught up thinking you just need to backline dps to breakthrough a tough hold, as opposed to being focused on pulling as much resources from the enemy team while staying alive. Moira can really go the distance with the latter role

    Cheers for the video, Arx. I've been watching your Streams enough over the last 10 months that I have heard these, but for you to compile them into a mini Compendium for new Moira players/ viewers is awesome. I've learnt a lot by watch you, so cheers for that, and I hope this video is well received so we can get more. One bit of advice I would proffer on side is: be proactive in pinging your teammates that need healing--before they themselves get on the "I Need healing" spam. (Something that should be done playing ALL Supports, but more so for Moira given her perception from the Community) Show your teammates you are not a "typical Moira". I've walked into a game, had a bloke type: "Great, a Moira main, this is an L," for that player to at the end of the game say: "Well, I was wrong, W Moira." I've been Endorsement 5, basically one tricking Moira since Season 7, and kept it since. And showing that you are there for your team, even if you are pinging from the other side of the map, will at least show your team you are trying and in the game with them, which will lead to better moral, and a healthier experience to keep pushing forward. And you can still do all the things a Moira player should DO to try win; however, by showing your team you are actively there for them, helps immensely, not just for that game, but for future ones as well.

    I'm not such a big fan of it as I value the sustain too much. Most of my game is about survival and I'm always playing on the edge of it. There's a time and a place for it, but I don't put the same level of importance on it mid combat as other Moira players do. I'll use it as a finisher only in most cases.

  • @ArxUK

    @ArxUK

    9 күн бұрын

    If Pharah is in range, attack her. Don't attack the Mercy as Moira in most cases. Nearly every other hero attacks the Mercy though. The reason on Moira why I attack the Pharah, is because it's rare that you will kill the Mercy, she will just disengage, but Pharah will be firing out amped rockets at you. If you attack the Pharah, the Mercy heals Pharah instead of amping her in most cases, which means Pharah is firing regular rockets at you. So you will generally survive for longer, Pharah will be easier to hit than Mercy, and you kind of cancel Mercy's effect out because you're occupied and not healing your team, and Mercy is occupied and just healing her Pharah. The difference is Pharah doesn't get the benefit of the amped rockets. The other way is to ignore the Pharah Mercy completely (it's not really your job anyway, but you can always contribute), and instead you can either just play the tank vs tank fight and try to win that, or you can go and attack the second support on the enemy team. If Mercy comes to peel, then Pharah isn't getting amped rockets (good!). If Mercy doesn't come to peel then Moira is good in 1v1 duels and while their support is fighting, they probably aren't healing their tank, who will now have no supports and is likely to be in real trouble. It's really tricky though in the higher ranks as the Pharah and Mercy players are really good.

    My biggest problem in high plat Moira games is timing my flank pressure correctly in the flow of the battle. I don't like flanking right as the teams engage, because I'm not thrilled about taking on full HP targets, but I also don't like waiting until the first wave of CDs is fully used because although the targets are juicy, my team is generally about to collapse. I do best with tanks who cause positional chaos like Doom or Ball because the timing is much more obvious. When I'm the only one pulling eyes away from the team core, it's much harder to consistently get offensive value and/or keep the tank alive. Would appreciate thoughts from any Moiras!

    So controlling your fade with the exercise you provided should be considered step one. Practicing crazy fade jumps should be step three. Step 2 should be fade control, but fading backwards around obstacles. I can't tell you how many times my map knowledge has bailed me out of bad situations. If you have excellent map knowledge, you can get more aggressive with your positioning. With your last tip, "Taking matters into your own hands," it is important to note that you DO NOT go into a game with this mentality. If you do, then your ego will get the best of you and you'll find yourself dying more often than not. Start each game with an observational mentality to see how your team performs and coexist with each other, then flip the switch if you need to.
