5 Tips That Will DRASTICALLY Improve Your Mini Ramp Skating!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video I share with you 5 Tips That Will DRASTICALLY Improve Your Mini Ramp Skating.
A few years ago I had no idea how to do half of the mini ramp tricks I can do now and I was able to really open up my skateboarding by applying these mini ramp skating tricks tips. One of the best mini ramp skating tips I can give that is not included in this video is that your flicking foot is what mainly guides the rotation of the board, not the popping foot. It’s a weird motion to get use to but it’s almost as if your throwing the board around with your flicking foot.

Great info about bumping the wheels. I HATE going fakie on a mini, but that fakie inwards heel to tail stall looks so damn sick.

for some reason I'm way more comfortable riding down fakie than I am doing a kick turn and going down regular.
Hard earned golden eggs of knowledge. Thanks man. If there is a 'magic circle' for skateboarding secrets they will be after you Chad.

So glad I found your Chanel after 5 years of only flat ground and street skating all I wanna do is look comfortable on transition
I’ll get here eventually. I just started learning some mini ramps things and I’m excited to learn more on it
Some other tips that helped me that Chad has also briefly touched upon in other mini ramp related videos would be: - Start trying to eliminate set up tricks, or replace them with others. The most common set up tricks would definitely be a fakie tail stall, fakie disaster or straight 50 stall and when you're doing multiple ones of those in a row it gets boring. Try skating a mini ramp with the intention of not repeating any tricks and you'll quickly learn what tricks are easier than others, and what tricks can lead into others. - Get used to sliding your wheels, you can start by just chucking powerslides across the ramp but this can quickly be developed into other tricks; nosestall/tailstall reverts, and then reverts out of rocks/disasters. Once you get those you can start stringing them together in lines for some variation, and the same goes for learning pivot's ie 5050 or 5-0 fakies, nosepicks etc. Fakie smith reverts are a really easy one to learn. Once I learned that trick I learned fakie tailstall bs reverts and fs 5050 reverts in as it's all a similar motion. - If you have a preferred side for tricks on a mini ramp whether it be fs or bs, try learning tricks in the opposite way. For me frontside tricks tend to be alot harder and it took me years to get over the fear of FS 5050's , but once you get them you can then learn all the variations out of it. - Watch older videos, there's a lot of mini ramp tricks that don't have as much prominence today but you can throw in ramp lines such as sweepers, tailblocks etc and they have a whole host of variations. - Don't be afraid to put your hands down, laybacks are some of the most fun tricks you can do on a mini ramp. - Most importantly, have fun - if you think a trick is fun and enjoyable, do it. Once you start stepping out of the realm of standard mini ramp tricks and put your own twist on it you can really start having fun with it.
Awesome tips Chad! You explain things so good, makes me wanna try shit immeditatly. 💕
Always was a street skater growing up and getting back into skating but mostly just skating mini ramp. You’ve been a huge inspiration with your videos to motivate me to try to learn new tricks
Thanks dude! I can't wait to try some new mini ramp tricks. I'm mostly into manuals and grinds cus I usually fall hard on any attempts of vert tricks so I'm usually very hesitant. But these tips just might do the job. 👌
Like the scraping the tail up the transition tip. Fakie pop board slides use to be one of my favourite tricks. Want to get that back.
Great as always! The last one especially in some occasions some tricks might come easy to you that are hard for others.
thanks man. love the way you trim this one video to exactly correct length
Your videos are so great- good info and a lot of upbeat inspiration! Thanks!
best skate yt channel
Good insights and always helpful!
Awesome advice man! Thank you
Thanx Teacher! Great video, has always! 👌
Hey man - I used to skate Oil City with you after-hours w/ JJ & Anthony like 10 years ago. Good to see you're still skating and the channel is awesome! Nice work bro!
I haven't skated in years but these trick tips were clear and made perfect sense👌 Aces Chad
Verry helpfull chad
Love your channel bro hell yeah
Wish my park had a mini ramp, I'm still too sketched of dropping in on the bowl
5 is key.
awesome tips.....and real advice!
Love your vids dude thanks so much
Great advice, been having problems with fakie kickflip disasters and have fakie ollie disaters on lock. Thanks Mate!
Tip #5 definitely valuable found this out watching someone do nollie bs bigspin to 50-50, gave it a try myself and nowhere near close yet after about 200 attempts it now spins into position in another 200 attempts I can see I'll get at least 1 foot on landing it
Great content in this video. Have not seen any other tutorials mention the things you just did. Keep up the good work!

Appreciate that Andres!
Great insight, Chad. And always gotta just try... you never know if you don't give em a go.
Fakir flip disaster🔥🔥 definitely gonna try these
Could you do a video covering crooked stall reverts? Straight up struggling with them at the moment. Or a three part vid on skating ledges? Great content by the way.
Great video!
All about that scoop vs pop, in my opinion :D
That was great Chad, learning to pop your wheels off the coping changes the game. Do you think we could get a how to bs/fs air on transition. I'm just getting the hang of fs but bs scares the shit out of me.
will be givin that fakie flip disaster a go next skate! I learned bs feebles on quarter pipe today, love your content mate!
I learned bs feeble fakie out on mini ramp today , I love ❤
Chad is very good and persistent similar to old-school manu chayms, Great
is that hempstead skatepark? live in florida but from new york cant wait to visit to skate there! big fan of u chad!
Mate.. that fakie inward heel.. Great vid Chad.
Good there's some people out there willing to share some of their experience, place o go to learn is seem to be packed with stuck up their ars teenagers that forgot they had to learn same stuff at the beginning...and I pay huge respect to all you out there for indeed that's one of the most painful sports out there trying to learn😄
Nice Chad
Just gotta send it! And practice more and more haha
Hey Chad, Our local mini ramp was built in the 90s and the middle really rough. Have you got any tips?
Whats a good wheel for transition?
can you show us some flat ground trick tips in details? Thanks
3:25 was so clean
too stoked to skate the mini now..!!!!!!
Tip 5 is the one
I hate how I've been skating for like 20 years but cannot do anything frontside on transition. i can do like front rock and roll, tail stall, 5-0 slashes. but that is freaking it.. nosestall revert frontside.. but thats IT. and those flip in tricks look sooo fun i gotta practice more.
Trying the bumps next time I skate :)
Do you keep your feet in about the same spot on the board when you are just doing grinds and trying to keep a flow? Or do you change it slightly for different grinds, etc? When I try to use my intuation from street skating, it's all wrong. For instance, when I try to air out/pop up onto the deck (over the coping), I put my foot too far back (like a street ollie) and my balance get thrown off when I hit the ramp.

My feet basically stay in the same position. Sometimes there are small tweaks but for most of the grinds I would say my feet stay the same

@@ChadCaruso Rad- thanks for the super fast response!
When you say "get light-footed," what do you mean? Like what are the mechanics. I think I know what you mean, but I'm not sure I'm on the right track. Do you mean sort of hop up without actually leaving contact with the board? I'm sure it is probably intuitive to you (and understood by a lot of viewers), but I'm a bit of a wonk sometimes when I'm learning.
@ChadCaruso

You described what I mean by “light footed” pretty well. Try to picture someone coming out of a fakie manual... they don’t necessarily Ollie but they do a little hop to push it off the end.

And move your weight to the tip toe AND the balls of your feet
@JohnDoe-yo3ed

Try it on some pavement crack that sticks out like a kicker. You do a fakie ollie motion but your tail never hits the ground, board pops of wheel hiting the crack or coping, it's the same motion (somebody called it chinesse ollie)
That last tip wasn’t just about skating, but also about life in general.
I've got a decent amount of flip tricks on mini and it just blows my mind that the fakie flip disaster was the first one you learned. I've been trying that forever and just can't ever get it to work!
absolute fucking gold
To everyone who just started or has been a skating for little time. Remember, all these good skaters say the amount of time they’ve put in. So you wanna be good, 10+ years is the goal.
So, a Chinese nollie is a effective thing to learn. Everyone thought I was dumb for doing them cause it's not a "real" trick. But helps for mini ramp...
Ramp God teaches his wisdom
I know it sounds dumb when I skate for 4 years but I am new to mini ramps and always bail on a mini ramp
And here I thought we'd be learning some axel stall tips lolol. K fakie inward heel up a quarter here we go 😂

Such a casual cap. You can't do any of these. On the off chance you can, you should be fking happy - because noone's learning a fakie flip disaster after only riding for 5 months.

Tip #5 is my biggest problem ☹️
Big disagree with tip 5. My tip 5 would be a willingness to wear pads. I see so many skaters out there unwilling to pad up. If you're learning new tricks, get them locked with pads on, then take the pads off. I learned that from rock climbing a lot. You don't go free solo a climb immediately. You climb it with a rope until it feels automatic, then you free solo. To each their own, but don't be afraid to try--good helmet and pads are relatively cheap these days. Thanks globalization!
Why this man is showing only fakie / nollie pop tricks wtf
