Happy New Year and Congratulations on making the ten year mark. This coming July I will have been diagnosed with CML twenty years ago in 2003. I have been on 800 mg Gleevac since I was first diagnosed. The CML is in remission.

🎉Congratulations on your 10 year mark!🎉 I am so happy for you! I’ve just been diagnosed with CML a few months back and I don’t really know where to turn. I’m on 400 mg of Imatinib, but I find it’s really hard on me. Nausea, headaches, diarrhea, insomnia, exhaustion, pain in my stomach, and now I’m starting to feel, some panic attacks this last week. I see a haematologist in London, Ontario but I want a second opinion from Toronto or a different doctor. My doctor is very nice, but I want a second opinion. The doctor was going to switch me to Sprycel, but apparently it causes pleural effusions, and I already have a smaller pleural effusion, so I can’t go on this sprycel. I guess they’ve all got very hard side effects, including heart failure, so I’m kind of scared to go off of Imatinib. As far as my blood count, the numbers look like it’s working… But I just had my first metabolical blood test done and waiting for the results. Crossing my fingers.

Thank you for your comment. Sorry to hear of all the side effects you are dealing with on your imatinib. That is definitely a lot to handle. I can understand getting a second opinion -- I think that is a good option and hope you can see a doctor soon. Do you know if nilotinib is an option for you? It's in the same family as imatinib, but as a second generation drug, perhaps it will have fewer side effects.

Sorry you have to change your drug. Did the doctor say why? There are other good drugs you can take, so hopefully your next one will be better for you. - Stephen

That is great that your bcr-abl is at 0.000. How long has it been at that number? If it is at least two years, then you might be able to stop the drug. I had 0.000 result for almost 5 years begore I stopped my drug. You will need to discuss with your doctor and if you are able to stop, you will need to test more often. The I got BCR ABL done and it was less than detactable level. I stopped Taking medicine from 21st may. Then I Got test done on 12 OCT 2022. It was again Less Than Detactable Level. Approximately since last 5 Months I have not Taken even a single dose. I am 53 Years. If you want to stop taking medicine you must follow certain food habits. 🙏🙏

@@ohaoyo3863I can not say exactly but as per my experience I strictly followed Johana Boodwig Protocol. First of all just take it easy and dispell off fear from your mothers mind. It is just abnormality with the patient health. continue the medicine as long as the BCR ABL report comes negative. Flaxseed Oil mixed with Low fat Cottage Cheese is miraculous. I suggest you to take 10 Soaked Almond overnight and Chew it with 10 Rasin and 5 Black Pepper seed in morning. Keep away from all processed food. Relax your mind. Keep away from negative thoughts. 🙏
