    This is glorious, I been tryin to find out about "what soil do you put in raised garden beds?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Fonillian Uncomplex Future - (do a search on google )? It is a great one of a kind guide for growing up to 10 times more produce using aquaponics without the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate got excellent success with it.

Not much rain so I watered it to help the breaking down process and my veggies are wow, it make sense when you look at nature and copy it. I’m a believer seeing the results, now there established I will just add on top and harvest abundance. . Love your videos , keep them comeing..

    James, I remember that in one of your videos you have a hazel (?) nut tree which squirrels raid continuously. We have mango trees, which squirrels like to raid. While it's not foolproof, this method helps. We have a string leading maybe 30 metres to a large biscuit tin lid placed high in one of the mango trees. We pull the string from the house or from outside during the day and the noise seems to scare away any thieving squirrels that happen to be about. I dare say there is some simple technology that achieves the same result.

I love letting nature balance itself instead of me dealing with it. I have so many bees and butterflies I think their magic keeps the grow cycle on point. I wonder where your pint size better half is? I have 3 myself and also 4 bunnies. Getting ready to eat some loquats, they are just getting ripe. My tortoises and box turtles love them, also. • @evanharrison4054

    @evanharrison4054

    4 жыл бұрын

    Same principle. Grow deep rooted, leafy plants, chop their leaves, and spread them around the place. If you have some old hay and horse manure, you can also spread that around. Wait a few weeks, and sprinkle some grass seeds that typically grow very strong roots. That's about it. The guy's right. Even a measly 5% of organic matter can quadruple the water retaining capabilities, and that's about enough for the grass. Next winter, you can go nuts covering the place with "organic matter", but until then, a bit works in a pinch. Don't even think about loosening the clay. Not only is it hard as heck, not bothering it can work out long term. As long as you can, over the period of months or years, build a proper layer of nutritious topsoil on top of that, you will have the perfect pasture, which is a few inches of loose soil on top of a hard clay bed that prevents draining during the summer. Most modern agriculture is a scam and a horrible misapproriation and misapplication of tools and resources. If you do what they teach you in a "college of agriculture", then you will be just like Sisyphus, trying to push that boulder up the mountain. Give my regards to your horses.

    JUST having horses in a potential garden area is really healthy for the soil! Their manure is a very good foundation to help the soil thrive. My next door neighbor had a beautiful thriving garden because years before she planted the garden there were horses there which created a healthy soil

    Just keep adding every kind of plant matter. Grass clippings, hay, wood chips, cornstalks, even straw, just laid on top the ground. As it rots underneath your earthworms will carry it deeper. A tunnel made by an earthworm is a highway for rainwater to go underground and your layers of plant matter keeps that rain from baking away. Keep on adding more, let your horses stomp and pre and drop manure all over it, and every year the true black topsoil will be deeper with plants performing well in it. Works on every soil type. Edit: add seed every fall to one section and keep horses off there until it's established. Have you learned when to put horses on grass and when to take them off? It is critical.

    Nice channel. I live in Maryland, where the soil in my yard is identical in composition to what you started with.... Sand. I'm assuming your no-till method means you'd add in layers. I'm envisioning adding newspaper followed by top soil followed by mulch/wood chips. Anyone can clarify on this... I realize it's an older post.

    Our soil is mostly clay. Only weeds liked it. How can I make it healthy like yours? And how are you watering your plants? Do you have irrigation system?

    The no-tilling method makes more sense to me now as I realize the worms will do all the work once you invite them with all the mulch.

    What happens when you keep throwing on compost and the soil level keeps rising? Or will the soil level drop when nutrients are being used up?

    Wow. You really encouraged people like me in Rajasthan India where many of its regions are considered dry either with Sandy or Clay soil. Rainfall is sufficient where i live. With your food forest system and local fruit trees and veggies, one can grow the healthiest and tastiest food everr!!!
