Swallowing our own pride sometimes help. This is more relevant on Indian roads where road rage is quite common. Rhanks a lot for sharing.

I have always thought that beginning by riding dirt bikes first . You learn a lot and dropping your dirt bike does little to no harm. But you learn a lot thus when getting on a street bike your learning curve is much quicker. Also I find most folks buy a faster or bigger bike than they should at first.

Very true on both points. I think many people buy bigger bikes than they need because they simply underestimate how fast even a small cc road bike can go. A dirt bike on a small farm (where so many kids learn to ride) rarely gets over 30 or 40 mph, then you jump on a bike weighing twice as much with other vehicles around and doing 60mph+ it is indeed a steep learning curve even for the casual dirt bike rider.

Thanks. Like the comments about swallowing pride / ego / right of way. Do you use a normal backpack or a special one? any recommendations?

I use the same old backpack I have for everything else. I use it for biking, cycling, kayaking, camping, hiking… I don’t like to waste money so if gear can be shared safely between different hobbies then that’s what I do.
