Also, I would like to clarify something I said in the video. When I mentioned the lamps covering part of artwork or a mirror, I am referring to a lamp being on one side. I realized my phrasing made it sound like it was ok for a lamp to be in the middle of a table! Sorry for any confusion! ALSO, OUR APOLOGIES FOR THE MUSIC BEING SO LOUD IN THIS VIDEO.

My first job was working in a lighting store. I learned so much about lighting by just observing. Now I’m always looking at the lamps. One of my favorite things to do is to buy new shades for a fresh look.

Thanks for the many examples of table lamps and their importance for creating ambiance (yes to 40w bulbs!).

Hi Jennifer, I don't like to walk into a dark room so I have lamps everywhere and use 40 watt also. I love all the lamps you showed and what a great idea to paint and old dated lamp instead of getting rid of it. PS Love your store!!

I have always been a lamp lover myself! Years ago when my kids were young my husband & I would buy & resell lamps & my husband would rewire them if they needed it. Our best one was a large white marble we got at an action that nobody wanted for $2.00! We turned around & sold it for $98.00! My husband is looking for ways to retire now, so thanks for posting this, as I'm going to tell him this is one thing he could start doing again! My fav lamp you showed was the one with the mesh shade...loved it! ; )

I totally agree with you! Lamps & mirrors are a must have, they accessorize a space with so much & both are easy to makeover!

Great video. I learned that instead of just running to Home Depot to buy a standing lamp to improve my favorite reading chair, I should stop by a lamp store and talk to a *professional* about my lighting needs.

Beautiful shop and You did a great job on your lamp makeover! My husband says the same thing about turning off all the lights! 💖

I am the same way about symmetry in the bedroom and each side of the sofa ( I know a lot will disagree!) I love lamps! I love being cozy comfortable feeling they give at night vs having a ceiling light on. I got a gold lamp that had a crack in it for free so I filled the crack with caulk & used makeup sponges to dab black, brown and beige to make it look like stone. Love your videos 👍❤

Be sure to take your lamp with you when purchasing shades. It's so much easier than returning shades. I love lamps and when watching vintage TV or movies I always check out the lamps. The hanging lamp in the Draper's sunken living room was also featured in a Bewitched episode in a hotel when Darren (York) was away on business. Mad Men fifty years apart.

Such a helpful video. I have been looking for a lamp for my dining room console so today's topic was right on the money! I am now going to look for a more shallow shade just like the one you showed. I too have also used chalk paint on older brass lamps (now all donated) and of course now brass is coming back "in." Murphy's Law! I just subscribed!

Hi Jennifer, we have those remotes. I even use them on my Christmas Trees and Christmas Lights, absolutely BRILLIANT invention. Must admit, I do have most of my Lamps in the Lounge, switch on and off with Alexa too. LOVE your videos - many thanks, Linda x

I like best the mesh lampshade one. What kind of shape would you recommend for a shade on a ballshaped lampbase? At the moment there is a cylindrical shaped shade on it, but I am not happy with it. Thanks in advance.

Love all of the lamps and tips you featured today. In an open concept home, with living/den/dining/entry open to each other, would you mix up more than 3 of these lamp styles if they are in sight-line of each other? Thanks (anyone who knows ;).

Absolutely love the wrought iron with the mesh shade and tall edison bulbs. We’re building a new lake house, and the rustic touch is very appealing to me and totally suits the esthetic of the location. I’ve got to find a Canadian source for this lamp...or something very similar!

Oh I am so a lamp lady too! I adore lamps and have collected sooooo many. But I’d never seen a lamp remote. That’s a must!

Which lamp was your favorite? I have to say my favorite is the cast iron lamp! It's got this rustic elegance that makes me think of a classic American estate. Love! Also does anyone else have the lamp remote? I cannot live without it and want to shout about it from the roof tops!

I have recently become a lamp addict in the last 6 months. I wish I could show you pictures. I saw one today from a thrift store that was made of prisms. It's about 24" high and I need a shade. I only do thrift stores as often as possible and I do a lot of making over. Cast-iron is excellent. Stainless steel is amazing. I'm now discovering glass and prisms and you name it. I've been a clock enthusiast for many years. The bigger the clock the better I like it. If you can do a show on large wall clocks that would be really cool. You have a new subscriber

I love your information I have a dilemma with a lamp I recently was gifted I want to change the color it is a 5-foot floor lamp with texture spray paint hand paint it is now almond color I want to change it to pure white with metallic silver what do you suggest

Loved your tips! I too have done brass-to ORB make-overs on lamps. Need to try Chalk Paint on some of my dark ones. Thanks! Oh, my favorite one is the fire extinguisher. I bought a copper one second-hand years ago to turn into a lamp. I was looking for a place to polish it, so it's been sitting there -lol-may have to try chalk paint on that one too to finally turn it into a lamp.

Front Porch Ideas hello there. Sometime choosing a mesh shade helps to add gentle light everywhere. You just don’t want to get the bulb too bright. 😊

Can you talk about caring for linen shades? Or fabric ones? I have two Ralph Lauren blue china lamps that flank our bed but I struggle with how to clean them. Thanks! New subscriber here!

onthe Wrightpath I dust the shades with a dry microfiber cloth. Helps get all the dust off with using any liquid. Good luck. 😊

Wonderful! Wonderful ! Wonderful everything in and about your video! Sadly you are not to be find in Europa, I guess.

I love table lamps, they give the kind of dramatic lighting you find in an old Hollywood movie. They flatter everyone and throw soft interesting shadows all over the room. Lately it seems that designers like harsh, bright lights without a traditional shade to light a room.. The light is hard, flat and the rooms they are in lack dramatic values. Yes, table lamps for me.

I thought I knew everything about lamps. Wrong! Thank you for the education.

Maybe try choosing a buffet lamp that is narrow, but still tall. That way it doesn't block a lot of the window. :)

I agree, I love ambient lighting. I have 3 'lamps' in my kitchen. I also agree with the lady below, the piano music was a little too loud...it should be more like ambient lighting...just doing it's thing in the background :-).
