I had a c section the 29th of June and I was fine for a few days, I even managed to poop in the hospital. After taking my lovely narcotics I got 6 hemorrhoids 🙄 3 of those were bigger than quarters. I ended up going to the hospital twice in 2 weeks and seeing a general surgeon. I cried for DAYSSS, I have never been more miserable in my entire life and I’m a cancer survivor so that says A LOT 🤣. I tried everything and the kitchen sink. I went through two tubes of preparation H, one of those having lidocaine, witch hazel pads, sitz baths, ice, a donut to sit on, hydrocodone creams from my doctor... EVERYTHING. I went 8 days without a bowel movement. And the tipping point on day 8 was not being able to pee all day so I went to the hospital crying in pain and they gave me a catheter and an enema. It was more than a pound that came out 😧🤣 and more than a liter of pee. I am now almost 2 months postpartum and they’re finally gone, with the exception of a couple skin tags down there now. I would take 10 more c sections over those hemorrhoids. point of the story is, TAKE FIBER SUPPLEMENTS, use enemas after day 2 of no stool, it’ll make everything easier for you, and try to stop your pain meds quick.

This is important to talk about! And important for providers to talk to their patients about. One of my pp nurses said "I think you have a little hemorrhoid," which was the only time it was mentioned and no one told me how bad it could be or what to do about it. I think providers are so used to them that they don't realize we as first time moms have no idea that we're likely to get them, what they feel like, or how to deal with them.

Yes i agree! I also didn’t take the stool softener that was prescribed - because I wasn’t able to get help and go get the prescription filled (paper prescription). I did NOT realize that by not getting that ... I’d suffer intense pain trying to poo. NEVER AGAIN. Next time I’m buying stool softener in advance!!!

We typically are adamant to discuss about this "butt problems" but thank you for opening up so women can also be empowered that they are not alone and that we have solutions for it may it be conservative or medical/surgical management. It was the most horrible experience I had which occured on my 1st pregnancy and sadly did not went away. Now I am on my 2nd pregnancy and I needed a external thrombectomy during my 1st tri. to evacuate the blood clot. It was and still is the worst pain! Worst than CSection! It took me a week before it healed but my colorectal surgeon recommended hemorrhoidectomy after I give birth. At least for now I can function and work my routines without 90% of feeling my "butt problem"...Just piece of advice, don't be afraid to seek help especially to our situations like this. Goodluck.

Thank you so much for all your videos! I shared a few of them with some of my expecting friends and they are in love with you as well! :)) I had a great 12 hour delivery of my first baby 11 days ago (and I decided to go for an epidural into 4 hours of labour, as my water broke and contractions were 2-3 minutes apart since the beginning). For my surprise haemorrhoids came along a few hours after, when I had my first visit to the toilet.

Thank you very much for your tips! Before to get pregnant I've been having an internal hemorrhoids for couple years. So on the stage of planning my pregnancy I went to gastroenerologist and asked her if I would need any surgery. And I was told that it wouldn't be a good idea as the surgery could affect the ability of sphincter to keep everything inside. So stool softener+ fiber+wipes are the only treatment.

@Laura Abarbanell surprisingly not too bad. One of the nurses held a piece of gauze that she kept running under hot water over it as I pushed and it gave me a lot of relief. I think afterwards was probably the worst part cos I had tearing it was a double whammy of pain when using the toilet 😅

After having extremely painful hemorrhoids for years that I couldn't get rid of, even after an outpatient surgery (EXCRUCIATINGLY PAINFUL) we got a bidet so I wouldn't have to use toilet paper to further irritate them. It was truly a game changer. I only have flare-ups from time to time now and they are nothing like they used to be. Seriously. Everyone. GET 👏 A 👏 BIDET 👏

I had a 4th degree tear and a severe hemorrhage during my delivery of my son 3 weeks ago. I had lots of complications and my nurse said it may have been because I was induced and had no epidural. My contractions never came all the way down from about an hour after they started pitocin until I had him (supposedly the cause for my very extreme hemorrhage). Then it took only 6 minutes from the time my doctor walked in the room for me to push him out.. I didn't have any pain relief while pushing and if I did I may have not pushed as hard and gotten a 4th degree "laceration." Well.... I was bleeding profusely while being stitched up...and 5 days after delivery I popped a stitch and it got infected. Then, the infection spread and all of my stitches were coming out. I went to the ER because I noticed things coming out of the wrong area 😬😓 they also did an ultrasound and found a huge clot still left in my uterus. Two days later, I went in for surgery. They removed my stitches, scraped out the infection, did a d&c, and restitched me (including an extra stitch over my my urethra). When I went in for surgery 8 days postpartum, I had lost over 30lbs. I also escaped pregnancy and delivery with no hemorrhoids, but then had diarrhea because I was so ill from the infection so I had to try to hold my torn rectum and run to the bathroom....so I got hemorrhoids 🙃🤦‍♀️

I have dealt with hemorrhoids for years and as far as pain treatment goes, I've never had any relief from the ointments like Preparation H. But one thing I found that helped immensely was Carmex, the lip balm. You wouldn't want to use a flavored one, but the original Carmex contains menthol and camphor which are great topical pain relievers. Just be prepared for that menthol sensation, it's a bit strange at first.

Ok so at what point should you be worried about the bleeding during pregnancy? I know number one thing is keeping open dialogue with your doctor because they know more specific to each patient but generally speaking. For example pain level (including lack of pain), amount of bleeding, how this may change with anemia (could anemia make it a tad more frightening? Untreated vs treated anemia)

Another tip, your body will have natural surges where it's easier to push. I'd almost say they're like painless contractions that help you poop. Wait till one of these happens and push with it. You won't have to strain nearly as much.

Omg I am pregnant and at 11 weeks I had big poop that legit felt like giving birth. I pushed but it hurt so much I had to get it out. Im 14 weeks pregnant and I just another hard time going to the bathroom(maybe I should up my water intake). I pushed hard and I had red blood. I still get the tiniest amount of blood if I wipe but it basically stopped. I actually looked I know I'm weird . But because I feel something there, not really Painful at all slightly achy but I think I have haemmroid on outside. Will I need surgery ? I'll definitely be asking my doctor

What if you have external hemorrhoids and are about to go into labor? Anything to be done to help during labor? If they hurt before and pop out while squatting.... then will they burst with pushing? Can they be held in with counter pressure?

  • @chrystalteal4171

    @chrystalteal4171

    4 жыл бұрын

Typically they don't burst and especially during pushing the baby out. I have externals the size of my thumb (very large) I just had a baby 5-20-20 with no pain meds and was fine. I have had hemorrhoids since I was pregnant with my first child, 13 years ago. Just delivered my 5th and plan on having them surgically removed this summer. Just keep them clean! This may sound weird but a few weeks before delivering they were so large I didn't want them to get worse so I would use my thumb vaginally to push against the anal wall and push out my bowel movements. Basically it kept me from having to push or strain. Do I recommend this, no, but it is what I had to resort to. Your delivery team is use to seeing them so isn't anything to be embarrassed about. Congrats on your little one, you will do great!

  • @Nurse_zabe

I would think counter pressure directly on the hemorrhoids would be painful, but changing positions, laboring in the tub and practicing open-glottis pushing during delivery would all be useful in not making them a ton worse. I’ve never seen one rupture or burst while pushing.

  • @Nurse_zabe

I didn’t know about doulas before I became a nurse, but I have thought of taking some doula training to better enhance my nursing practice! I would have a hard time not being medical if I worked as a doula and operating within their scope of practice instead of a nurse’s scope. Both are important in the delivery world.

I had the worst hemorrhoid after my second pregnancy and delivery. It was like a grape hanging out of my bum, soooo itchy and sooo painful! I bought witch hazel and some small cotton pads and doused the pads in the witch hazel. I would squat and place the soaked pad right up on the hemorrhoid and leave it there over night. In 3 days the hemorrhoid was gone! Best thing ever!😀

I have internal hemmoroids and anal fissure. I use wet tp like a wet wipe on the outside if my butt cheeks and then get in the sitz bath. I had my period and I’m so careful and I patted with my wet wipe more in my bum accidentally which they say you can do anyway and created another fissure with sentinel pile how is that possible??? I know this is a bit off topic. I can’t use wet wipes with fragrance because of allergies so I use wet tp I just pat outside of my bum and get in the tub now for the rest of my life. Can anyone relate to this because the drs actually say pat with wet wipe how can that create a fissure this is a nightmare and I’m beyond careful too any suggestions would be appreciated thank you and how do you get clean especially as a woman without getting into tub when a wet wipe bothers my bum doesn’t make sense 😔

@@Nurse_zabe or even just a video on common reasons you'll get stabbed during Dr visits during pregnancy. Like the glucose test (I know you have a video from when you went through it), whooping cough vaccination, generic blood tests and when to expect them. I hate walking in to an appointment and them asking do you want this vaccine or test we have never mentioned before? My Drs and nurses are great at explaining things (though it's always very short explanations), so I ask questions but I just hate that feeling of you have 5 minutes to make a decision. It's not that they are being rude or pressuring it's just I'd like more of a warning.
