This review is missing the point here on so many fronts.....the overlapping subdials are a design feature that visually work really well and don't interfere with function at all. The date window position makes the date easy to read at a glance (I wouldn't buy a watch without a date feature). You can look down at your watch without having to pull up your wrist completely parallel to your face. Most would purchase this watch for the movement and with good reason.....as for people mistaking it for a Rolex, that's their problem. Never bought anything to please or appease someone else. The clasp is awkward, I'll give you that, though it gets easier after a bit of use......

Screw-down pusher and the lack of date function kills the Daytona for me. The fact that it is not a Rolex is a plus with all the 'wrong' attention nowadays. You don't compliment or start a conversation with a Rolex owner anymore. Tbh people who wear ceramic Rolexes are most likely just there trying to impress people with their 10K MSRP watch, rather than actually appreciating/knowing anything about watches. What is a distraction is, "ROLEX / Oyster Perpetual / Superlative Chronometer / Officially Certified / Cosmograph / Daytona" splattered on the dial, along with Rolex written 10 more times on the inside of the bezel.

Huge step back in that department. Yes it has 10 more hrs of power reserve and 1/10th sec chrono, but an El Primero is “an event” and the 400 was much more of an event than the 3600

The only time someone mentioned the watch I was wearing, they remarked that it was a cheap watch, not a Rolex. It was a watch I designed and had custom made 30 odd years ago and the only one of its kind in the world. It took me several years of negotiating with a watchmaker to produce it. Subsequently some cheap watches were made with a similar design.

Plus… as Rolex prices go from the silly to the absurd has anyone noticed the new attention that Rolex watches are getting out in public? Here I’m talking about daily wear Rolexes not the ones swathed in original plastic stickers being held in safes and used as investment vehicles. I’ve been wearing Rolex watches for years and nobody hardly gave them a second look. In recent months they are being noticed much more and this is mainly positive but sometimes not so good. The number one Rolex being eyeballed by the newly educated Instagram guys is the Daytona and the Panda dial screams money like no other. Wearing that out in public is becoming a massive liability to your health. Discuss…

I prefer the Vertical clutch system on the Daytona over the Lateral-Coupled in the Zenith as I hold prefer to keep the chrono going. However, the Lateral-Coupled looks amazing in combination with the sapphire case back. I agree about the date window placement, I think it would look nicer without but I do prefer the Zenith buttons over the screw down ones on the Daytona. Personally, I don’t mind the subdials, I actually like them. I do prefer the slimmer profile of the Daytona. As a collector, who is not worried about resale value, I believe the Zenith is the better bang for buck. If one was buying with the intent to sell, obviously the Daytona would be the one to get.
