I went to the Sapporo snow festival when they had the star wars sculpture and went to the Sapporo beer garden as well! Was pretty awesome, I'm moving to Hokkaido at the end of this year so I will def be checking out some of these things, can't wait!

This was a good, fun series of videos, really enjoyed them! Nothing wrong with local food videos either, it's cultural. The Sapporo Snow Festival looks like a must see, with a trip to the Sapporo Beer Garden for the Lamb on the mini Mongo-Grill.

I will be travelling there with my partner from 3 to 13 November, about 10 nights We intending to cover central hokkaido to eastern hokkaido. You didn't mention soup curry! I lived in Sapporo for about 3 years and that's my number one recommendation. There are so many places to check out and each one has a unique way of serving their version of the dish!

Night viewing is much better in Hakodate than that in Sapporo!!

+Jase yes, you can take the train to Noboribetsu :) if you google Sapporo to Noboribetsu, it'll give you the lines you have to take. It looks like it takes about 2 hours by train a bit more than by car. The Sapporo Beer Garden is in Sapporo so you can take a short cab ride to it, and the sushi restaurant is at the station so no traveling at all required :)

lol! i laughed so hard at the part where you drool and then apologize for it, that was super cute ^^ anyways, yes i noticed the "one" week skipping :P but after seeing you uploaded a new one it was all forgotten hahaha and besides it's just natural that you don't have enough time sometimes, i myself have so much to do. some stuff that i wanted to complete even like 1 month ago already, so i feel for you ^^ about the sushi... i really try to like it, but i ate it 3 times and everytime it didn't taste so good to me. Maybe in Germany they just don't make it right, but i will definitly try it again when i visit japan. I love to see Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto first so i probably don't end up in Hokkaido with my first visit. Do you know any super good places to eat sushi in Osaka, Kyoto or Tokyo? Hope you have time to answer this ;)

Similar to the conveyor belt sushi I went to last night! It was voted the best rotation sushi in all of Japan (by one particular TV program). It was so amazingly good... I tried to get some footage of it and will scrape together a video... but making videos is harder than it looks. A lot of people take it for granted, I think xD

my fiancé and I decided if hyogo was too hot in the summer, we will go to Hokkaido for a holiday. Is all of what I have seen (apart from the snow festival) still available to go to and try?

+Tomas Kelly Yes, everything but the festival is available all year. Well, you might not be able to eat the soft serve in the snow but you'll still be able to get the soft serve itself :P I hear summers in Hokkaido are very nice :)

Is Hokkaido also nice in summer/spring/autumn? I have been reading about visiting Hokkaido and watched some KZread movies but I don't feel any urge yet. Good food alone is not enough for me.

+vangrails There's something for every season. I hear summers are very nice and cool, but haven't been there myself. From all of the photos I've seen of the place, the nature is amazing there as well :) I only went to Sapporo and Noboribetsu this time, but I went to Hakodate awhile back and that was a very scenic town. Maybe check out Teshikaga, the town that William has suggested in the comment below :)

Last week I flew from Osaka to Amsterdam and the plane didn't fly to the West but it flew up to the North, it flew over Hokkaido and I can't deny that I was fascinated by what I saw from above. I saw Hakodate and Mount Yotei. The mountains were still snowcapped. The last thing I saw from above were the Rebun and the Rishiri Islands. I have done some further reading about Hokkaido and maybe I would like to visit the Rebun island and the Rishiri island for hiking in the Summer.

definitely worth a go. I would recommend going there in summer. The flowers all bloomed and the weather is super nice. Also there are so many fireworks festival to enjoy through out the summer. Trust me the firework show of Hokkaido is like out of the world. Except Sapporo, the rest of Hokkaido is more like a countryside kind of place and there are so much to do through out a year.

I am still not able to make up my mind if I want to visit Hokkaido or not. But summer 2017 is far away so I don't have to make up me mind yet.

Is the ice cream mostly sold for tourists? It was my understanding that most Japanese are lactose intolerant.

Oneechan/Oneesan, summi masen (excuse me) for asking one question that I am unable to fathom about Japan. Why does Japanese celebrate Christmas or major have church wedding though they are shinto or buddhists. Oneechan sorry if that was an inappropriate question.
