Dennis Lilley The 2015+ 5.0 is substantially different than the Boss engine. Yes, the 2015+ is “based” on the Boss design, but in reality the parts are a lot different. Pistons, rods, heads, valves, even the oil pump is different. The Boss was a built to flog on the track and keep going. There is a reason Ford warranty’s covered track use on the Boss.

Boss Roadrunner is way better than a 15 Coyote, and even better than a Gen 3 Coyote. I know cause i have a soon to be Authentic True Boss Roadrunner in my 11 5.0 with gen 3r and mild pulley for 800wheel e85 daily driver. Boss Has forged Mahle pistons, high tension valve springs for 8k rpm, bigger cams, forged rods, way better heads with bigger valves, roller follwers, lash adjusters etc....Boss heads have thicker casting and added copper to strengthen heads, fully ported CNC job, Fully balanced rotating assembly, unlike any coyote. Better head studds, gaskets,,everything. Even a Gen 3 coyote not as good cause Gen 3 coyote still has cast pistons. Boss also has Sodium filled exhaust valves for better cooling. Block has rerouted coolant passages. Anyone who says Boss and Gen 2 or 3 are almost same is a fcking knuckle dragging meathead. Boss Roadrunner is designed for high rpm endurance racing. Its fcking sick motor. Glad i found one for my soon to be 800wheel 11 5.0 daily driver e85.

Cool facts about the Boss 302, well done. The 2012's are the "plain" version, with the 2013's receiving more electronics (track apps, etc.) options, and also have a quad exhaust which the originals did not. On the '69's and '70's, rear window louvers and shaker hoods were optional. 1969 stripe decals did not reflect light (at night), but the '70's did. P.S.- Wear your seatbelt.....

It's a nice touch. Gives the car a true sports car feel. I did however have to clean the wheel very carefully when I first got the car. It only had less than 4000km but the alcantara was in poor shape. I found just a damp micro fiber towel and soft soap worked great to restore the fibers. Maybe I should do a quick video on cleaning it? Its getting due for a once over.

I love the feel of the Alcantara, but truly wish Ford had rotated those horizontal bars downward away from the 3 and 9 o'clock positions where I prefer to place my hands when driving on the track. It's embarrassing that my 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ steering wheel design with regards to that is better than the Boss's wheel.

Nice video again :-) Would like you to do a "boring" video on how the BOSS works out as a family car. Maybe you could do a video/sunday cruise with a couple of kids in the back and having them describe how the leg-room and seating are - and their overall opinion. Im still planning on buying a BOSS, maybe next year and will be using it with the family. The new 2016 model 5.0 has terrible leg-space in the back, how is the BOSS? And - how is the mt-82, still no luck-up problems? Clutch working OK? Cheers - Carsten (Denmark)

The center stripe on the 1970 was painted and the rest vinyl. Canadian spec Bosses have fogs, US do not. Also, GHIG was literally the most prevalent color when I was looking to buy even though school bus yellow was #1 most common. There was also 1 Sterling Grey 13 Boss with black stripes made. It was auctioned off for a charity.

I have a green 13 boss. Technically it’s not gotta have it green. The paint is called green envy. I was at a ford show and they had a book of paint chips and codes. Sure enough they’re not the same. The boss green has more of a metal flake look and some gold in it. You can really tell the difference when they’re side by side.

How funny was it that Pontiac trademarked the Trans Am model car but did not even win first place in the Trans Am circuit. Also they changed from the C-stripe to the hockey stick graphics because the SCCA made cars required to have these large numbers on the side doors. Ford did not want the C-Stripe interrupted by the large number hence changed to the hockey stick graphics in 1970.

300 is a decent HP number. That seems to be a good number in general for sports cars. Especially light ones like Boxster and 911 platform. For a lighter car like a Miata or S2000 they can have the same performance but with far less HP. I big car like an early Boss Mustang that 300HP number seems low since they are heavy cars but somehow we managed back in that era with far less than we have now. 1970's and 80's muscle cars were making just over 200-250 hp. Heavily suffocated by fuel economy demands and emissions demands. 444 is absolutely incredible.

ryan calhoun Hi Ryan! I can think of 2 reasons to buy a Boss over a standard GT. Resale value or boost. This car will hold its value better than a GT over time, so if you only want to experience this car for a bit and move on your better off in a Boss 302. It's cheaper to buy a Boss and boost then to buy a GT, build the motor and then boost it.

Good video, I have a 2013 SBY and added the front brake cooling and transmission cooling kits as well as flushed the brake system with DOT 4 Racing Brake Fluid, as I do take mine to the track on occasion. You're right the Owner's Packet contained a lot of interesting facts. I see a viewer would like to see a video on the Boss as a family car. LOL First I wouldn't let anyone ride in the back of my Boss, even though I drive it, I keep it, including the engine bay pristine and there is no way I'd let kids in the back. if they are less than 7 years old they may fit, but it would still be very tight. This is a TRACK CAR not a family sedan. Personally despise the "Gotta Have It Green" color (in fact I have a better, less flattering, name for that color) and was disappointed they didn't bring back the "Grabber Green" that was on my 1971 Torino Cobra 429 CID. That color popped and I guarantee would have created even higher demand. Lastly, Mr. Solis (fellow commenter) needs to check his facts. Only the driver's side airbag had a recall. Ford chose to replace that complete airbag/inflator as an assembly instead of the inflator alone. Took the Dealer 5 minutes to do under my constant scrutiny. However Sean, a safety perspective though, you should be wearing your seat belt/shoulder harness if for no other reason as to set a good example for your audience.

I was around back in the day when the first Boss 302's came out. The actual name Boss came about because when Shinoda was developing the first Boss 302. People would ask what car he was working on and his reply was, "I'm working on the Boss's car" And the name stuck. Growing up in the 1970s the Boss 302 to street racers was the ultimate car to have. It was always a mythical unicorn that no one had ever seen. I seen my first one at age 7 and I fell in love. Personally owned my first one since high school a 1970 second owner, and a 2013 new from the dealership.

Used to love how friends would show up with a 69 or 70 Mustang, saying that they had a Boss 302. Cool let me see, opens hood and I see a base 302 not a Cleveland head set up. That's not a Boss I would tell them, how do you know was the usual answer. I would open the hood of my 71 351C Mustang,if your valve covers looked like this then you would have a Boss. Have you changed plugs what size socket did you use. 13/16ths , Nope if it was a Boss you would use a 5/8ths socket. But I had been a mechanic since age 10.

Sean McGuigan. Have to shine light on the lack of parts and Fords indifference to fixing these cars. As long as your make your payments they don't care if your car has been parked almost two years . Have a laguna seca and no confidence in ford ever making things right. Your video was good ,lots of I Info people don't no,but it does take a book to cover all that went into the boss 302. And one bad part. Destroy s joy of ownership.

Did you know that The Name Trans/Am was sold to the highest bidder buy the Racing association back in 1968. that is why Pontiac got the name the ironic part was Pontiac didn't even have a Trans am Race car at that time. The Street Cars that Pontiac sold with the Trans /am title couldn't qualify to race because Pontiac didn't build a High performance 5.0 l engine. It was not until the 1970 Race season that the rules were changed this allowed Pontiac Mopar and AMC to destroke there bigger engines and make a 305 cubic inch engine.`
