Honda CRF300L:
Balance is the key when riding any motorcycle. And we’re not talking about just balancing on two wheels: We’re talking about the balance between size, weight, power and handling that makes some bikes great-like the new Honda CRF300L. Based on our previous CRF250L, for 2021, it gets a larger engine with more torque and a whole host of chassis and suspension refinements. What you end up with is one of the best-balanced bikes ever for on- and off-road use. Perfect for weekend trail rides, it’s also among the best choices ever for commuting or urban transportation. And if you’re looking for a version with a windscreen and Dakar-inspired bodywork for a little more weather protection, make sure you check out our new CRF300L Rally.
Hello my name is Andrew, My family and I love powersports. Just something about the feel of freedom and power you get from a bike or ATV. On this channel you will find content for the Honda 300L as well as our journey we take together in the world of power sports.

I've been enjoying your videos! I'm a fellow Pine Barrens rider. My ride is a Kawasaki KLX 250l. It's wonderful to be back on the trails since the 70's when my last ride was a '76 H-D SX250 dual sport. Being back out there 45-years later is like being in "Heaven on earth" for this 60-something. I met a fellow trail rider in Bass River State Forest with a new 300 Rally and thought it might have been you, but his name was Anthony. He loves his bike and has had many of the same bikes that you have owned, (why I thought it was you). Keep up the enjoyable videos!

I enjoyed the one comment about the bike being suitable for a 65 year old! God willing, I will be turning 60 in August 2023, so the comment encourages me. I did not grow up with motorcycles like my brother Bobbie, but I have inexplicably developed an urge to buy an off-road motorcycle. Bobbie advised me to look at the Honda CRF300L. Now I have developed an itch that will not go away. The more videos I watch, the more I like it. I hasten to add that I have no urge to ramp and jump the bike, but merely drive it off-road to enjoy the fresh air. Given my age and inexperience, it would be the wise thing to do. Thank you very much for a great video.

I thought I bought my last dirt bike when I was in my 30’s but at age 56, I still wasn’t done yet. After a year of chemo I thought if I’m gonna do something I’d better do it now and I got a CRF300L. I was weaker than I thought and I fell over a few times and could barely pick the bike up myself. But I just hit 3000 miles and I’m feeling much stronger now that I’ve been getting some fresh air and exercise riding the backroads and dirt trails locally. I like cleaning and wrenching on my bike at home and I go for rides after dark when the town shuts down. I don’t rely on it for transportation and I don’t like riding in traffic. I like riding in the town I grew up in and I keep the memories alive by doing so. My family has deep roots in Honda motorcycles. (Owned Maruko Cyclery of Fresno for 3 generations) And It was our family tradition to ride motorcycles every thanksgiving at the family ranch in Gilroy. Everyone is gone now. When I’m riding I feel closer to them. And on Memorial Day I’ll ride to the cemetary and pay my respect. And pull a fat wheelie down the street when I leave, just for them. I might even have to upgrade to a 450 before I’m done. “Ride Red!”

Yeah it worked for me for a yeah and a half. I adjusted the preload as well. Also the rally has a slightly more stiff rear shock. Now when I'm doing woops or rear hard stuff I can get the front to bottom out, but a front spring replacement for a specific weight is only 120$ and a couple hrs of work.

Great summary of the bike. Tyres are king when it comes to confidence on and off road. Agree stock tyres are spot on for compacted ground and road use but need changed if you plan to attack any mud or sand. Not had to replace my indicators yet but have seen a lot of issues where people have dropped the bike (even from standing) and have broken the plastics where they mount. So rear indicators are on order for me because the bike will go on its side at some point!

Hi Richard, I also had the CRF250M in Thailand, it's a great bike, perfect for bad roads and surfaces, but of course offroad is limited because of the tires. But I enjoyed the high seating position, the wide handle bar, the light weight and the overall grin factor - I just smiled in my helmet riding this bike! Even after owning a XR650L and a DR650SE this little bike didn't leave me wanting for more power. Had it for three years 30000 km, no repairs besides a fork seal starting to leak a few km after the warranty expired. Too bad they don't make a CRF300M! Guess I'll get the L and put 80/20 tires on them because I don't do much real dirt. The M is stiffer, never had any problems with the suspension, but then again I'm not riding like a maniac. :)

Thanks for real world reviews. A huge majority of these bikes will be primarily on pavement and a few dirt roads.. a small minority will ride the type of trails you were showing. I weary of reviews wherein bikes like these are cut down because they perform poorly in extreme situations. There are few riders, relatively, who can utilize Even this machine at its maximum ability. Go ahead, enjoy it, change the tires and wheels, add some racks or bags or whatever and pretend you are in the desert some where. That is as close as most of us will ever come anyway.

Good analogy of the tire pressure. I have a 2021 Klx230 and in the process of turning it in due to being a Lemon well at least the dash. The speedometer stopped working shortly after purchasing it last July. The technician replaced the dash and then it stopped working again and he replaced the sensor. Well last Saturday it stopped working again but it has stopped before. Other than that I like the bike except it's a lot worse on the road and the suspension is not that great either. I've owned more than a few kawasaki and Yamaha and one Suzuki. I've never owned a Honda. I would not consider the Klx300 as my current bike has deterred me from trusting the dash. I'm watching a lot of videos and getting first hand knowledge.

I can't remember if you had the ABS version or not but here in Australia ABS is a must, i was wondering how you find the ABS on the front when riding dirt trails? I know that the switch turns off ABS to the rear but how does it effect the front? If you have any feedback back it would be appreciated Cheers 🍻

Hey man, I hope you get your bike soon. So for most people I think abs on the front can be a good thing. Me personally I like to sometimes lock my front tire in a slide on a ditch or incline so I just removed the fuse, no more abs for me. Then you might ask why did I get the ABS bike? Well it was the only one available and I didn't want to wait another few months.

Before I watch this i will say the rear suspension was designed for 60kg riders and plain sucks while the front forks feel a lot better in comparison. Had a CRF250L as a light duty bike while also riding my XR650L, These two bikes were lightyears apart in design with the older 650 just being so much of a better bike in terms of suspension. Don't the manufacturers learn from experience? - or is it a generational gap where knowledge of what works disappears. I had the 250L for a few months and it was a pretty decent commuter but the moment you threw some dirt at it the rear shock would just say no ways. Sold it years ago. Still have my XR650L (657cc) - 133kg tank empty after weight redux and happy for it. From what I gathered the 300L series still has a wimpy pogo stick rear shock to this day. Edit: watched your vid now and you are pretty spot on the money. Guess a sorted 300L wont be a bad bike to own. I'll stick with my 650L for now - it has fully adjustable suspension front and rear ex factory and hauls my 220 pounds kitted around the dirt from mild to wild.

@@iosoi3145 I may considered opinion ( for what it's worth), after over 40 years of riding, Honda has made an outstanding bike in the L and the rally ( especially the rally). To be light and agile in the dirt AND completely stable and pleasant at ( legal) highway speeds , all while using almost no fuel, is a truely great achievement from a manufacturer than has been bland for years. This bike, and the brother bike the 2022 model CB500X, are a truely great pair of mtotorcycles. The 300's have very high seat heights ( somewhat lowerable) and the 500 has a high seat ( even more lowerable), which is something to consider if you are vertically challenged.

I haven't been able to sit on the L, Rally, or CB500x let alone test them because the stores are all out of stock. Only available for order. So I'd be buying on blind faith.
