if youve tried everything and still cat get it to idle pull of your motor and check clutch spring mine wouldnt idle no matter what and i found the clutch spring was broke. replaced it and never had a problem

Thank you for this: In my case, it was the Blue Wire on my Nitro Rustler. I have an older RC car (Late 80's early 90's Thunder Tiger Panda Danny Thompson stadium racer) and used the glow plug igniter from that and it started right up!

I literally just a Revo 3.3 from a neighbor. It is an older model and they have no clue when it was last run. I Bought all new batteries, fuel, and a new glow plug. I am hoping I can get it going with that. This will be my first nitro car, let alone RC car. I have a limited budget so fingers crossed I can get it going.

I have a nitro slash that was sitting outside in the rain for at least 6 months and was able to get it running just by putting fuel in it. I just need a new exhaust because it bent out of shape 😂

Lol, this video would have really helped me out a few weeks ago when I first got my T-maxx 3.3. I was having trouble with it recently actually, it seemed to be running decent, definitely needed tuning, but ran decent. Suddenly the engine fell on it's face, acted like the LSN was way to rich. It spit tons of raw fuel out of the exhaust even with the LSN screwed all the way down, and coated my rear tire in oil. Decided to get some new glow plugs. The one I was running was one that I used previously, and I tested another glow plug that came with the truck when I bought it used. That glow plug was worse, barely stayed running with the glow igniter on, and pretty much instantly died when I took the igniter off. Wasn't the results I was hoping for, but results are results and at least that gave me a clue that it might be the glow plug. Got a couple of new ones in today, gonna run it and see if it works. Also, definitely gotta make sure to charge the glow igniter. I've made that mistake. Walked my truck all the way up the street to an open field to run it, and couldn't get it to start. Finally realized it was a dead glow igniter. I do agree with removing the Traxxas EZ-start wire though, it just gets beat up wayyy too quickly.

Also a good idea to check your throttle boot. That accordion looking piece of rubber by the throttle linkage. It can get a tear in it and will lean out the mixture. That was a rabbit hole I wouldn't wish on anyone to go down, lol.

3yrs later I hope you learned the throttle boot has nothing to do with air leaks at all it doesn’t even seal tight enough to make a air tight seal & if it was air tight everytime it idles it would blow up like a bubble and when you wot it would suck it tight none of that happens cuz it’s purely there as a dust seal if you take the carb apart it will have a rubber seal or a little band groove around the inside of the throttle body when the fuel enters this makes a seal chances are it was lean anyway so it wasn’t sealing properly or the throttle shuttle was worn and then the boot might of actually been helping but it definitely isn’t a seal intended to stop air leaks 😮

Have had my tmaxx 3.3 nitro for a few years now and it just started acting up now. I can’t get it to start. I reset the screws the factory, I replaced fuel lines (yes they’re correct), and put in a new plug. So I run with the blue wire and not the igniter. I have one for my other car, so your saying I should just clip the blue wire and start it and run it from now on with just an igniter?

What does it mean wen u turn truck on before starting it n servos are twitching?? Bad servos or bad box batteries?

So I'm working on a friends nitro rustler 2.5. It needed some work. Installed a new engine, new ezstart, new wire harness, new power switch so it can run the rechargeable 5 cell battery pack originally it was the 4 battery system. Badly corroded! The tray was basically filled with dried up battery acid. New steering servo. I even got and painted a new body and installed new wheels/tires. Anyways there's no fuel going through the lines even after blocking the exhaust.. any ideas? I'm about to check the fuel tank lid. If that's not in than where do I go from there?

Glow Plugs usually work or they don't. If it glows bright it is fine no need to replace. The Traxxas Easy Start wand has a Glow Circuit in it that quits working it's not the wire usually. If it won't glow a New Plug it is Usually the wand. The Stock Traxxas setup is pretty reliable as long as your engine is tuned well and you don't over crank it. Start it like you would start your real car. If it don't start after a couple of Cranks give it a break to cool down don't just keep cranking.

can you make a video explaining what a glow plug and igniter are? where are the located and what do they do?

I got a brand new nitro 4tec 3.3 brand new out the box added fuel and put the ez start to it wont even turn over. Checked the one way bearing its good and installed correctly, checked the ez start motor, works properly. Put it all back together and again nothing , any suggestions?

How do I know what factory settings are for my engine, it's 20+ years old pretty sure the company that made it is no longer around and I can't find it online apart from old pictures. I have it running but have problems trying to keep it idle when it's hot, glow plug is new and works well like I said car runs fine I just need to tune it but don't know what the factory settings are

I broke mine in the Adam Drake way...idled 4 tanks then 10 minute cool down time with piston bdc position..., 5th quarter throttle brake, 6th half throttle brake, 7th 3 quarter throttle brake 8th full throttle brake..10 minutes cool down time between tanks with piston bdc position ..then tune engine in for peak performance...no issues

how do you turn off you nitro? Do you pinch the fuel line, hold the flywheel or plug the exhaust?

RC Guru my tmaxx 3.3 has a thing on the fuel line to pinch it shut to shut it off

HELP!!! My idle screw is fully maxed out and my slide had way to big of a gap, it refuses to run at stock settings unless its maxed out??!?!? It also stalls out frequently. New fuel line glow plugs new im lost!!

So when you have a new RC Truck didn't touch the lower and upper pins, heated engine as stated and glow plug is working but it still doesn't start what then? Annoyed on 5th hour troubleshooting 1st video I see is a 10 year old opening from box and starting it without issue. I'm right to the breaking point where I am gonna take a sledge hammer to it.

Mine does the same thing, i think it has to do with the toe in/out and the weak servo. A high torque servo with a horn instead of a servo saver and straightening out your toe should help

The TMaxx has the EZ Start system but I gotta replace the OWB, One Way Bearing in the EZ Start. New Goal Plugs for all and fresh gallon of 20% Installed new Turbo Racing 3 or 6 channel TX-RX systems in the Volcano as iबकवास सिर t only needs 2 and the 3rd can be LED lights? Have a 1st gen E Maxx too. It's getting a new DumboRC TX-RX 6 channel as I have a Warn winch and s lights, with an AKK , 5.8 gHz AIO All In One 40 channel camera with a 5" monitor/receiver by Little Pilot. GREAT VIDEO SYSTEM!!! Have a Brushless SLASH with OBA, On Board Audio. too, but needs an ESC. Oh my. They are proud of them!!! Would really like to find a Novac EVX I think? The original ESC for the EMaxx with the twin brushed 550 motors. It's orange. It has 2 of the Tamiya type battery input and two motor outputs. Need one so bad!!! They are high dollar and hard to find. They are still the best. Oh, maybe Castle or somebody else makes one?

I should almost just give you mine to get rig of the headaches it causes me lol. Stick with electric unless you have lots of patience and love to tune and tinker every time you want to run it. Much easier to plug in the the battery and go lol. JMO

My nitro stampede 2wd will not start the guy at the Rc shop tuned it a couple of months ago like 3 or 5 months ago and how do I check the ez start to see if my ez start is bad because it just sits there and reverse it’s a brand new.15 Traxxas engine I moved recently I think for sure my old neighbor stole my brand new glow plug igniter because I ran home and come back to his house and it was going and it and snowed and I would have seen it on top of the snow

I got a 3.3 tmax and I can't get it going for the life of me I had it all apart cleaned every thing and just no fire and then dead stops after if worls over for 3 seconds and advise?

I run venom 5000 7.2v high power nimh battery in my traxxas starterboxs .it work very well with blue glo plug wire. I been run 5000 battery sent 1998 .most of the it a bad connection where the starterbox plug in to blue wire. They are alumuin they lose contact very easy here. I been runing traxxas nitro sent 1996.still do. ✌

This damn emax 2.5 . My God. New Glow plug, and Still when the box gags out Like yours was and you re hit it, it ain't starting like yours. I ordered an igniter. It's a day or two out. I notice when I check the glow plug, it lights bright for a quick second, then dims back. I'm hoping that it. I put a pull starter on it because I thought my starter was weak, but I see yours acts just like mine. It rolls until the thermal protection starts to dial it back. Same time and everything. Gotta be this junk box. Bought it brand new. Guess a lot of people have problems with them.

I’ll add one!! If you’ve been driving and your tune changes as you drive, sometimes your car won’t re start after it sits, your air filter could be too dirty! California is dusty and I’ve had my car get WAY too rich just within one tank and it wouldn’t even restart. Changed air filter and it fired right up and ran perfect.

I use a better nimh in my rd start and it works like a charm but if I how the carburetor idle screw strip so I have to replace it and also good advice

So I finally got mine to shift and run correctly so I thought. Well after blown fuse on charger and getting tuned and charged finally lol I ran it for like 15 mins then just shut off while idling... went to start again nothing .... held it forever to start nothing. Gas a little nothing to the point now I think I flooded it.. drippage from the exhaust being why I say that but what do I do man it's brand new barely broke it in

Hi great! Love the Help. I’m looking for help. I have a few traxxis and other Cars and trucks. I’m in SoCal and looking for help getting my car and trucks going again. They have been sitting for a year. I bought them for my Grandkids. My son in law was the brainchild to get everything going. Well he’s moved to Texas! Why? Because Ca Sucks!🤣 so if you can help me get things going? I’d appreciate that.

First thing is unbolt the engine throw as far as you can then convert it to electric!!!

I am confused you’re saying the glow plug isn’t holding the idle maybe I am confused don’t these work like Diesel engines the glow plug just starts the combustion cycle and the compression of the engine keeps it idled

That’s exactly how this hobby goes! For me it’s out of sight, out of mind. It sat under my bed for about three years. Once I pulled it out, within 3-4 days I was disassembling it and buying new parts that had sat with fuel in them.

rc cars are good
