    My wife and I are considering living in the area. Though if we get our way we'll be looking for a house in the Virginia City area. Though the outskirts of Carson City are possible. Though my company might make Reno a better option.

    I was born and raised here, belong to the Native American tribes here and love living here. We have so much culture here, it’s small and big, we get all four seasons. If you want to move here be aware it might be hard to get on your feet because the competition is big here. Also one thing she did not mention is, we are always at risk here for fire season.

    All valid points! I have a new video dropping today where I talk about the fire season. It is definitely a downside of living anywhere in the West. 😕

    Reno is NOT northern Nevada. It is actually more accurately considered west-central Nevada. Northern Nevada would be Winemucca, McDermitt, Elko, etc. Towns that are actually in northern Nevada.

  • @sarahisselling

    @sarahisselling

    8 ай бұрын

    Thanks for your feedback. Reno is definitely in the Northern half of the state, along with the other places you mentioned. It is also not central, as we are right on the border of CA. The MLS that I belong to as a licensed agent is literally called "Northern Nevada Regional MLS." Have a great day!

  • @freethinker3279

    @freethinker3279

    8 ай бұрын

    @@sarahisselling Actually, if you divide the entire length of Nevada into thirds, Reno would be in the CENTRAL third of the state. And since Reno is on the west side of the state that would place it in West central Nevada. With that being said, since your experience is in the Reno area I would suggest you more accurately designate your advice to people looking to move to the Reno/Sparks area and not throw a huge net over the true northern part of Nevada. As far as the designation of your MLS, this is most likely due to the towns in Northern Nevada not having sufficient size or turnover to warrant their own MLS. It does not magically move Reno into the northern 1/3rd of the state.

  • @sarahisselling

    @sarahisselling

    8 ай бұрын

    @@freethinker3279 yeah, but who talks about states in thirds? I suppose you could divide NV into as many pieces as you want to. We could have it in eights or sixteenths…whatever floats your boat! But when talking about north or south, Reno still falls in the northern half… 🙌

    Hi Sarah! What has been you experience like living in Reno and dealing with wildfires and smoke? I might be moving to the area from Chicago this summer. Any info would be great!

  • @sarahisselling

    @sarahisselling

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey there! Two summers ago the smoke was admittedly pretty brutal. Last year wasn't quite as bad. Since we had the biggest winter in 100 years this past year, we are all very hopeful that the moisture levels have been replenished enough to prevent a crazy fire season this year. I can't deny that fire season can be a factor of living here, but natural disasters are a factor almost anywhere at this point, so I guess we can choose between fires, tornados, or floods 😕. I would be happy to chat more with you. Feel free to book a call with me and I can tell you all about life here :) www.calendly.com/sarahisselling

    From someone else who has lived in the Reno/Carson area for 20+ years, wildfire smoke is a norm in the Summer time here. As sarah said already, a couple years ago it was unbearable. There was a pretty bad fire in Cali and we were located right in the airstream from it. Most years it's only a few days here and there. But if you get a fire, say in Yosemite, (which is where the recent one was), you're going to have many very bad days of smoke. Ash will cover your car or outdoor area. It's definitely something to keep in mind if you want to move here.
