The LSD makes a monumental difference in traction. You don't need wider tires when you have the LSD assuming you've got quality 245 width summer tires. I had my M235 for 2 years prior to installing it. The difference in traction and dynamics is shocking. It is a must for this car. Even at 4/10ths driving you can feel it.

I've got to say that if you have to open your door to reverse park in anything other than a Lamborghini Countach you need to practice reverse parking until your rear wheel disintegrates! Sorry..😊 Also in a tight parking spot your wing mirrors let you see how close you are. Get the double tap feature programmed on remote and windows go down halfway making it easier to exit and enter car. Loved your 335i videos and what you had to say, I'm moving towards M140i as in UK and pleased to see you in the 235i.

Thank you for the great information on the M235i. I would think a couple of these things could be coded out or in. At least the car door going into reverse should (Maybe not but it's worth a shot LOL) be able to code it out. Great to hear these things about a car I've been thinking about getting.

Watching this... the option for the oil, cant you use your tune to Bluetooth to see temps? Or maybe OBD? I know it’s not factory but an idea. And the same with park feature. Does Bmw have something like VW VagCom where you can go in and turn it off?

Im not sure if this is possible on the M235i although I imagine it would be but I'm running 19 X 8.5 at the front and 19 X 10 at the back for my M240, so you can get a decently wide setup. It also makes the car look a little wider I found. could be in my head though.

Completely agree with you. Like your car, my 230i has no temp gauge and we don’t even get an option of an LSD and whilst it has less power, 252hp is more than enough power to utilise 1. Even the miata and brz get those standard. Mine is a manual so I don’t have the issue if I need to open a door to park. I don’t mind not having a HUD but it would be nice. The lack of the temp, gauge is borderline unforgivable though, the lack of an LSD is equally frustrating as it flies in the face of the car being a small rear drive coupe.

I have a 2015 m235i in manual. Here's my gripes: The clutch delay valve is annoying, the car is 500lbs too heavy, the seats are too close to the transmission tunnel (for safety reasons) which causes your legs to be angled oddly and can be tiring on long drives. The standard voice guidance sounds like a soccer mom. Ditto on the lack of an LSD. Camber is also an issue if you want to track the car. Favorite things about the car: The French voice guidance is super sexy, the interior door handles feel great, the engine is amazing, it looks good, there's no rattling, and the seats are great.

I have the 2016 m235i so essentially same vehicle. I’ll add that the brakes are a bit weak compared to true M cars, steering feel is a little lacking compared to older hydraulics, and it’s not possible to place the car in neutral without starting the engine with these electronic auto gearbox. That last issue was a major issue when the dealer didn’t torque the drain plug correctly and my oil leaked out while driving. The tow truck guy had to literally drag the car by the rear control arms to get it on the flat bed. Here’s an interesting fact, even all McLaren supercars don’t have limited slip differentials, they’re all open diff. Go figure.

Hard choice, logically M2 is all the way to go with all the options. But I love the ZF 8-speed in M235i more than the DCT in M2. Somehow the 8 speed ZF more robust and reliable easy to maintain just change the oil every 50k kms. It can be flashed with softwares too, to shift fast like a lightning. While the DCT in M2 need extra care huh. 😲

😂😂😂😂 the ZF8 in this gen is slow. There is no issues with the DCT. Maintenance is the same as a regular trans so idk where you’re getting your info from. Also, a ZF8 flash does not make them faster. There is no flash that makes that trans quicker.

Simply Car Things if BMW sold the car with an LSD standard and with wider arches for bigger wheels, why would anyone pay all that money for a M3/M4? Plus overall cost of purchase would be much lower allowing more people to buy it. But your right it does need an LSD. My modified M135i lit up a rear wheel at 100mph the other day. Scary!

@@shevo2008 Honestly I think all those points are why the BMW M2 Competition came into effect, it truly distinguishes itself amongst the rest of the 2 series. As much as I love the standard M2 it's easy to compare it to a 235/240 and for some that might be hard to justify the extra price. Honestly at $51k MSRP tho, this car shouldve had an LSD, it's just a clear/cheap example of BMW hindering this car help people justify the M2.
