Thanks for sharing. My wife was looking for another vehicle and this and Rav 4 and CRV were the contenders. The CVT has me worried. Would love to see a full review.

Thanks for checking it out! I have looked at RAV4, CR-V and Forester and picked an Outlander! Fantastic car for the money! You will easily save $4-6k as compared to similarity equipped competitors. Didn’t want to pay “Toyota tax” for an unrefined-sounding engine, although the best horsepower in class and multiport and direct injected. CR-V worried me because of oil-gasoline dilution problem in those used in cold climates and did not want a turbo. Forester was good, but direct injection drove me away. I also considered Mazda CX-5, the best handling of all 4, no turbo and a real automatic transmission, no CVT, but was a direct injected engine and mainly it lacked in the rear cargo capacity.

Do you mean GDI? Yes that is gasoline direct injection. It make engine more fuel efficient but at cost of carbon deposits on the valves. I prefer multi-port injection (MPFI) in the Outlander.

I hate getting road salt on the back of my pants from a wide door sill.
