Very good video. Good explanation about the curves and the flexes. See you all at the Pond in Antwerp next april😀👍👍
This was really helpful in a lot of ways. Just picked up a covert QRL and changed up my curve from P88 to the backstrom curve. Excited to use it tonight

Fav stick Bauer Vapor Flylite
Great vid as usual 👌👍
Tried true and tested fiberglass / wooden sticks have great feel, are way cheaper and are fine for most rec league players; until you find the curve pattern you like. I usually wait for the $250 CF sticks to go on sale and buy two at $120 piece around boxing day. Crosby aka Sakic curve is the best pattern ever and never underestimate the mighty pmp 5030 Paul Coffey Special. Glad to see you dudes enjoying hockey - please call it a shin pad or shin guard and not leg pad. Peace from hockey town
Awesome video!
Great video. Very detailed.
I have a p28 flex and a bauer 1s that i really like both the wrist and slapshots are amazing:)
Great spread of info for beginners, like myself.
Very informative.
Nice job! Thanks bro👌
That was an awesome video
Btw the p92 is a mid curve, and the most widely used blade in the sport. It's basically a curve that's a jack of all trades but doesn't specialize in one thing. An e28 or a p28 is a toe curve like you described.
Thx this helped me
Love the vid
I got 2 last hockey season get a Sherwood stick EK33 hockey sticks with 80 flex I weighed 160lb and 13 season I flexed that stick like a flex 40 stick when i do a slap shot and I am defense I also do about 7 slap shots pre-game so it's good for me only broke 1 of the stick so I know what stick I'm getting Also at my Hockey shop where I live it has about 50 rows of different brands sticks go Canada for being awesome and happy 150
what would you recommend for a 5'9 133 pounds as the bauer intermediate stick is short for me
Have any of you guys tried the true xcore 9 acf, I wanted to know mid kick point or low kick point is better for a forward player who shoot wrist shot and do stick handeling more, is the 1x good?
Very good explanation with caveats
thank you
Stick buyers should also be aware of the different price points of each brand and stick type/family. For examples, a Bauer 1s Supreme vs. a Bauer 170 Supreme. Price will effect the weight, performance, durability, general feel and balance of the stick. I would recommend the mid-price to mid-high price points for most players. You'll save half of your money and the durability of the stick will be better. However, I'm under the impression that smaller hockey markets are limited in selection and usually only offer the flagship models for each brand. Speaking from experience and living in Canada, I would say only a small percentage of players, the elite level or the very rich use the most expensive sticks.

My advice - buy your stick based on how you play or score goals. If you're a sniper go high end. If you spend your ice time battling in corners or banging them in in front of the blue ice, get a solid $100 twig.
Nice Job boys!
i love how he says t and k it like asmr
Ccm ultra or super tacks with mcdavid curve .. 80 -85 flex .. best stick and flex ever .. wrist shot and snap are crazy
Are Easton sticks any good specifically Easton synergy grip
Yes, can you talk more about curves
I’m 6’2 and use the pacioretty warrior alpha QX3, is that good
At my local Canadian Tire there isn’t really much customizable sticks like oh j want this flex but this length or this blade, any suggestions of where I should shop for decent sticks?

Sherwood please!
My hockey stick is to my eyes without skates on Is it too tall and should i cut like an inch of it?? Im kinda beginner when it comes to hockey
6" 170 and I use 85 to 100 and PM9 curve!
Gotta say P92 is by far my favorite. Tried P88 and just wasn’t a fan. P08 is just impossible to use unless your trying to shoot 30 feet over the net
Picking a stick is just a personal preferance, wich he says after every point
Butterburner I'm 137 and I use a 75 flex I'm having an amazing year with it so you should be fine
I am happy with my warrior qrl 5

Thanks I’m 23 and I want to go into hockey is that too late to come in or
Just found this. My six year old son is now starting with a stick this week after no-stick skating fundamentals. I have a wood youth or junior abs stick they use for street and he'll be using that to start. Not sure what the difference is between youth and junior sticks are. I still use a Easton shark skin shaft with replacement blade as I've never liked over priced one piece composites. Way more power with a two piece on slap shots. But then again I used dozens of Victoriaville and Louisville TPS wood sticks growing up and had a mean shot with those to the point I would hurt goalies in practice and had to use half power.. Point being, as one commenter stated below, you don't need a $250 stick to play. It's like Gore-tex, an absolute gimmick for sales. I saw that Sher Wood is still making the 5030 wood junior stick. I might start him out with that one.
What stick might help with receiving hard passes
What type of pattern and kick point is best for the velocity of a wrist shot? Not how quick the release is.. but strictly velocity. Thanks guys!!

I’m a defencemen and my ccm jetspeed is a 65 flex and I’m only 80 pounds and 11 years one but my ccm RBZ is 50 flex
You are the best
You should be worried about play level as well. If you are low level you don't need or even want a high level stick. Lower levels are more durable as well.

True but it's the same as asking someone why they're driving an expensive sports car if they don't drive professionally. If you can afford it why not but we're all for letting people know and giving them the option to spend less and still perform well. Great suggestion!
I like the 77 flex on a Bauer, but I always cut it down to an 84 because it’s too tall for me. I want to cut it to the height I need without having to make it so stiff.. any ideas?
@ohainickify
6 жыл бұрын
James Morrall 77 flex would be a Senior size length stick. Check to see how tall Intermediates are for you, as if they are still tall, you can cut a 67 flex Intermediate down a bit and it will increase the flex up to around 75ish. Also, some manufactuers have different lengths in their sizes - a CCM Intermediate will be longer than a Bauer Intermediate for example
I got a 40 flex CCM super tacks and I weigh 65-70 pounds is that fine for 100 bucks
@reap_darion_3796
7 жыл бұрын
Matteo Dias yeah it should be fine as long as you can flex and if feels good. I've noticed with tacs they are pretty good for intermediate where as when you get heavier get a warrior or something

Should I buy a Bauer 1N or a CCM super tacks 2.0 (im a defenseman and I mostly use snapshot/slapshot)
@PaintedSodaHD
7 жыл бұрын
I own a Bauer 1N and recommend for slapshots I don't take too many snapshots but you should be fine. Plus Bauer is very good at stocking different flexes and blades so you have a better chance getting the perfect stick and in my experience it is slightly cheaper, but the CCM Super tacks 2.0 has pretty bad reviews people say they shatter I cant confirm though, I was considering this stick recently but they don't have a large selection of curves. But flexes should be fine. Hope this helps.
I'm a 13yr old 5'8 180lbs defense I use a Crosby curve 85 flex extra long CCM supertacks 9360
Kessel uses 77 I believe and example Matthews uses 82 flex and its like rubber on his hands
I'm 180 and use a 60 flex for the quick shots
I’m new to hockey
Hey, I shoot 60% wrist shots and 40% slap shots. Do you think I should get the warrior alpha qx3 or the ccm tacks 7092? Thank you to anyone who answers!

@justinpatterson3550

JustinPlayz 16 I would pick one and use it all the time, you want to get use to the blade pattern, weight, length, grip and the feel of the stick. Once you get use to it you will see that your shots, passes, etc. are much better because you're use to always playing with the same stick

I'm a defence man, I have a really good slap shot and that is probably my best weapon. I have a pretty good wrist shot but it could be improve. But I am also a fuck moving dman with really good hands. I'm using a heavy, cheap stick right now because I'm not going to the Chel so idrc. I feel like it makes my hands slower and my wrist shot release slower. What's a good stick recommendation that would fit all of these qualities?

I decided to take a drink every time this video mentions "personal preference" and now I'm wasted. /s Honestly though, great video to give some guidance to stick selection. As you guys point out, I truly believe there's no one answer to selecting a stick, and there's plenty of factors to consider. If people are fortunate enough to be able to try several out, that's the only sure-fire way to know what works for them. Keep up the great videos!
Honestly the key factor for you to like a stick is the blade everything else can be kinda shitty and it can still be a decent stick with a good blade but is you have a shitty blade you fucked
can't believe they didn't mention that cutting the stick changes its flex. some sticks have lines that indicate the flex if cut to that length.
Is super tacks 40 flex good for 63 pound
