    Yes you can exactly use ‘my dear’ words instead of saying ‘canım’. But in English ‘my dear’ just shows the lovely/cutie position for someone else in your heart. if you use ‘canım’ word in turkey it means You also want to indicate that you see this object of your love is important for you as much as your own life/soul or right of living. Because ‘can’ word means ‘life’ in Turkish. Eg. Cats have 9 lives = Kedilerin 9 canı vardır.
