I love harbor freight, they actually have amazing customer service and they have a great return policy. I got my large drill press from them and it runs like a champ

I’ve been using this one since October. It’s been great. I wish I had the tall one.

When installing the chuck, the force of me pushing down broke the welds on the support table. Awesome

@@VansWorld I’ve never owned a drill press. Might be a basic question but do people use vices to hold the wood down they are drilling holes on. I see the drill press has 2 slots where you put what you’re drilling into. Is there specific clamps used in there

Very efficient video. It gets right down to how to do it without a lot of excessive talk

i broke the depth guage right off the bat when I started drilling i didnt realize it wasnt tight enough and slipped down and snapped right off not up like he says in the video. Also when i went to put the chuck on with the 2x4 it bent the plate your work sits on. You can see his flexing in the video and i had to use pennies to get it back to square. So i would maybe use a 4x4 standing up against the bottom plate so that doesnt happen. As soon as i get a chance im gonna weld up a new plate. buyer beware. all in all i was able to accomplish my task and its held up pretty good other wise. Great video

Just got one for Christmas and tried to install and was having problems getting the top on. Even with the set screws out and using a mallet, I couldn’t get it all the way on. I watched your video and it just slid on perfectly. I’ll return it and try another one. Appreciate the detailed video to confirm my suspicions.

To prevent table damage, swing it out of the way, retract the jaws and install the chuck with a plastic face mallet or a hammer and block.

Genius! I bought the 10" one last week and got most of the assembly done, but the chuck was like THIS CAN'T be just pressed onto the spindle like that w/ nothing holding it, and couldn't figure out how to put that belt housing handle on. Thanks so much!

Hey just got mine fired up to try for first time an I notice there’s quiet a wobble when I turned it on what should I do? Maybe I dident put enough pressure installing the chuck if so how do I get it off to redo? Really excited to use pretty bummed out I’m sitting here so seeking advice

The video was awesome. I loved the "better whoa"! I read the previous comments and feel the same way about the chuck. Is it supposed to go all the way to the top? cuz if so mine doesn't. My son helped with that and was really putting the pressure to it when better whoa came out of my mouth. I haven't tried to use it yet....buying drill bits next. Thanks!

It’s a great tool to have around for sure. Especially if a straight hole is needed. I used mine last year to drill 45 degree holes into blocks of 4”x4” to make carpenter bee traps. It made the process 100% better. 👍😁

That cheesy plastic depth stop busted the first time I looked at it funny. After it broke into three pieces, I told it a few things about its momma. After a lot of poking around the internet looking at dozens of replacements, NONE of which would fit, I finally found some dude in Texas who makes and sells a machined (or maybe 3D printed) aluminum part for $35. Installed one on mine and it works just fine.

My husband likes harbor freight they have pretty good prices there

Appreciate you taking the time to make this video. It was very helpful for me not ever using a drill press. Only thing I still am unsure about is operating the depth apparatus. Would have been great to see you actually set it and use it a time or two. I still don’t understand how the numbers will help me at all, cause when I start to lower the drill it doesn’t contact the material for a given distance and the numbers are then irrelevant. Like I said , never used a drill press before and I’m just now diving into the DIY/engineering/tool life, got tired of having to rely on a particular mans’ time schedule to get small projects done . So I will do them myself 💪🏼 😎

The user manual says to bolt the base to something solid FIRST STEP for safety.

I found that after putting the check on that it bent my plate a little bit

How much pressure is needed to set the chuck? I also saw the plate bending. I may try to support the plate with a piece of 2x4 if it takes significant pressure.

I just assembled mine and I can't for the life of me understand how the chuck is able to stay on. You literally just press it down. I still can't figure out how it stays in place. Does anyone know?

You should use a lubricant for drilling through metal. Simple dish soap will do and make less of a mess than oil

Oh no. That sucks. Take it back. I think you have 30 days from the time you bought it. And you shouldn’t need a receipt. They can look it up by your phone number 👍😁
