When a wild predator kills a prey, the prey suffers fear and pain just before it dies. When prey is killed more humanely using slaughterhouse methods, it dies without suffering. Given a choice, lions will choose fresh killed meat over live meat. This proves their primary need is to eat, not to kill. In my opinion, humans act morally only when they reduce suffering. The fact that suffering happens everyday in the wild is not justification for humans, with the ability to reduce suffering, choosing not to do so. People who watch and coldly support more suffering, are less moral.

Zoos don't give these animals much space. Zoos are limited every year all animals give birth to many cubs and calves. So the zoo doesn't have much space. So they do release them in the wild.

I personally think zoos should be banned all together. I know some people would say that it's to help protect endangered species. But there's another better alternative to a zoo if that's the case. It's called a wild life preserve, a 20,000 acre plot of wilderness where animals are free to live as nature intended. That's fenced off from the outside world, and protected by both local and federal laws. Is far better than a little concrete box, being spoon fed every day, while people gawk at them for 20$ a person or whatever.

For those wondering about the thumbnail of the lions eating parts if a giraffe in an enclosure in front of people, thats not photoshop thats real and did happen, now i forget what zoo this happened in as i haven’t listened to the story about it in many years but it was definitely in europe or asia. So the zoo had a lot of giraffes and didnt need more, one of the giraffes though was trying to mate eith his cousin and for some reason to prevent the giraffe from getting pregnant they killed the male. They then butchered its body and fed it to the lions and other predators at the zoo with children watching, i think i recall it saying that they butchered it in front if the people too. And yes that includes children.

The donkey thought at some point he had nothing to worry about, He was among friends and they would not hurt him or her and out of nowhere it gets pushed into the claws of tigers. Those same animals will be the ones doing the torturing in the afterlife.

Credible zoos would never do this and do have breeding programs for some species to enable them to release and grow the population but humans are taking their habitat and soon zoos will be the only place to see them until they are extinct. That's not their natural lifestyle and it can and probably does damage their psyche. Conservation or keeping them to prepare them for life in the wild is prefrable to a zoo.

There is nothing natural about this! There is more to a hunt than the capture and kill. Here the predator never loses. In the wild, the predator loses more often than they win. In the wild predator and prey have equal chances. Here, the prey is a sitting duck, walled in by humans with death staring them down. This is shameful.

One negative side to this is before the animal is released to the prey, it can get drugged easily by any body. Not sure who would do this, but it's a possibility that can't be ruled out.

So that's why we see so many films these days....
