Good morning from Georgia and Happy Wednesday. I love watching you and your mom cook, you look so good together. I noticed on the hash brown casserole recipe that you use frozen shredded potatoes. But, have you ever tried the "Simply Fresh" brand? They are not frozen and ready to go. Usually in the egg, biscuit area (cold side) of the store. Not to change your recipe, I think you might like them if they are available to you. Be blessed!

CT SCAN UPDATE!! I ask y'all to please continue to pray for me. I had my doctor's appointment this week for the CT scan. I was told that I have a tumor on my left temperal lobe, they didn't tell me the size, they just said that they caught it early enough that they are going to try medication first which is some kind of steroid that starts now (I have the medication) and have an appointment with a Neurosurgeon in June. Thank you in advance. Happy Easter! God Bless.

I am 66 and live next door to my Mom. Dad had to be put in a home because of Dementia. We have done Sunday lunch after church with the family as long as I can remember. We have 28 of us and most Sundays we have at least 20 of us there. My Mom would have it no other way and she is 85. Dad just turned 87. I am so Blessed to still have both of them.

I love this type of videos. It feels like my grandmas house. My grandma made rolls every Sunday. Everything revolved on that. We had either roast, ham, lasagna, or spaghetti and meatballs or fried chicken . My bonus grandfather was Sicilian. He taught her how to make it. Green salad with simple vinaigrette or coleslaw. Really good coconut pie or coconut cake. Played cards or dice after dinner. It was always a great day that I looked forward to. My other grandmother made the best cornbread and biscuits. Always had beans and some kind of roast or fried meat. Good veggies. She wasn’t a baker though. I want to start doing this.

Mel & Granny, I enjoyed this vlog so much because it brought back so many wonderful memories around my Mom’s and My Mamaw’s Tables for Sunday Dinners with family and friends. I’m an only child with no children or grandchildren except those my husband and I have adopted in Christ, so we seldom have any family dinners now cause all my family have passed and gone to be with the Lord. I am very grateful for those memories and count them as great blessings and look forward to being together again with the Lord. Thank both of you for sharing these tips. You are very blessed to still have your Mom and Dad and these times together.

Momma Mel this was a great video that I enjoyed watching so much. It reminds me of my mom in the kitchen when she was trying to teach me how to cook. Well I never wanted to cook so I would always run outside to play with my friends. Well it’s my loss now because my mother has passed in 1994. My mother was a great cook, and all of those recipes I never learned to cook, and now I wish that I had learned to cook her recipes. I miss my mother’s cooking so much. Enjoy these precious memories with your mom and dad. And keep up the Sunday Dinners those are memories you can’t forget.

Thank you for sharing. Made me think so much of my Mom who passed now 6 years ago. We would have special dinners not always on Sunday . I do miss those days. The two of you are a blessing. The rest of the family has moved away but we get together as often as we can.

I appreciate videos like this. Your recipes seem simple but until you have someone show you you just don’t know sometimes how good simple can be. My mom never taught me to cook I’ve just done it on my own. It’s nice to see someone do it though. Thank you

I don’t think I have ever seen frozen corn come in those tube-type packages sold in stores here in Iowa. Thank you so much so sharing your Mom with us today, that’s so precious!

Oh my! Lots of memories came flooding back of my momma cooking in the iron skillet, baking cakes, or snapping beans on the front porch. We never had proper "Sunday dinner". Most of my life she was a first grade teacher but she always had supper on the table by 6pm every night. Cooking happened every day and baking happened once in a while. She taught me both. Mother's Day 2008 she gave my brother and I the best gift. She gave us each a recipe book with all of our childhood favorites - all written in her beautiful handwritting. It's my most prized possession! I'd post a picture but I haven't figured out how to do that yet, lol. When your mother teared up talking about her momma I teared up as well - mine passed in 2011. Sounds like God gave all 3 of us wonderful mothers!

I love this!! Making memories is so special. My dad worked at East Alco in Frederick MD for 35 years, all on swing shift because they never closed. He had 2 days off between shifts and if that happened to be over a weekend, that was a bonus!! I miss him so much ❤

Loved the video! You are very lucky to have your mama in this time of phone cameras.. I would give everything I own to have a video with my mama cooking😢 and boy could she cook and bake. I am probably your mama's age now but you never ever stop missing them. Almost 30 years it's been.. oh and my name is Mel also... thanks for this to your sweet mama, please just give her a hug every chance you get! Much love!

Happy Easter! You knocked the cold water right from my eyes at the end. It hits home of those that have come before and made so many blessed southern meals. I can see it still touches Granny. ❤ 😢 I now carry the torch for my family. Its an honor. On a blessed day such as this I have reflections of my kin on my table. Plates handed down from grandparents. Salt n pepper shakers from great-greats. And its not about the 'things'. It is about what you demonstrated tonight - Food made with love and fellowship with the family/friends you made it for. May God continue to bless and keep you and yours! Thank you for always sharing more than your recipes.

I will be watching these every single week, (along with your regular videos) as I love Granny recipes. My Mawmaw is who inspired me to love to cook and I’m always wanting to learn new southern dishes. I’m from Atlanta-hence my love of southern, soul, comfort food. 😊

My husband's father worked for Alcoa for 40 years, last years at the Pittsburrgh office! My husband lived in Alcoa, born in Knoxville, until they moved to Pittsburgh! Great memories of that area!

Oh goodness, thank you for sharing your sweet Mama with us! I miss my Mama so much! She was a great cook and so many of her recipes I wish I had, but she didn't write them down. I have watched this video twice and enjoyed every minute. I definitely plan to make the cake, coleslaw and beans. Thank you again and may God bless your sweet family.

Thank you for sharing your Momma in this video. I really enjoyed her wise tips, tricks, and most of all the way she measured the ingredients. 😆It's so true that it really helps to plan ahead for your family dinners. I love the crockpot. She just gave a great tip - cook on low while you sleep. Thank you again for this wonderful video!
