You could take 1 each from 9 bottles. If it's off by .1, then the tenth is 100% safe. If it isn't off, you can mark the 10th as fake and give any from the other 9. You don't need to know which one has 1.1, you only need to know one that isn't.

The story is just an aid to help you hold all the information in your short term memory. The question was simple, "How can you find out which bottle contains the heavier pills by weighing only once." Not "How can you give grandma her next pill only as soon as possible" Insert: whatever story you want to make the objective seem imperative.

He can try to place it in order to remember which Pills are from which bottles. Or if He really can't, He can throw them in the trash can and only use the ones in the bottles because He know now which one is bad for his grand mother. (Also i'm not English so sorry if There is faults in My text ^^)

there’s 100 pills per bottle the ones on the scale don’t matter immediately, as long as he remembers how much he put from each bottle then he’ll know which bottle has the 1.1g pills

I Think there is a much simpler answer to the last riddle. Take all of the pills from One of the Bottles. When the weigh is 100g then give her one of the pills. When the weigh is 110g then Take any pill from any of the other bottles. And then just buy another measuring scale or new batteries to measure and name all of the bottles.

The tank filling riddle isn't exactly accurate. As the water must go into tank 3 before it can go into tank 4, and we can assume that there is a point in which the water stops filling tank 3 without spilling over, tank 3 would fill up at least one water drop before tank 4 since the water is going from tank 3 into tank 4.

Tbh in Riddle 3. Nobody fills up tanks as much as you described. Just imagine putting a fish in there. It will overflow 🤣

I got 2 and 4. There's these little problems we do in math and that really helped me solve the 4th one.

I think in the first riddle you could pick any of the drawers. If you pick the first drawer which is blue, there is a possibility that it may be a red&blue or a red. If it is a red sock, that means the second drawer has the red&blue and the third drawer has the blue socks since all the boxes are labelled incorrectly. It goes like this -first drawer -Blue(incorrect) -Red [correct(I picked a red sock)] My guess: -second drawer -Red (incorrect) -Red and blue (correct) -Third drawer -Red&Blue (incorrect) -Blue (correct) You cannot assume that the second drawer contains blue since it makes the third drawer true, assuming the second drawer contains blue will only make a hypothesis that the third drawer has the red and blue socks.

Just get new batteries for the scale, problem solved

The last one all you had to do was weigh one pill from one bottle. If it's 1.1 you know that's the bottle, If it's 1 then you just have her use the pills from that bottle until you get batteries for the scale. WAY faster than that dumb method

he uses it once to find out if that bottle is either 1 gram pill or 1.1 gram pill. If it's 1 gram grandma can use that bottle until you get more batteries for the scale. If it's 1.1 gram then use any other bottle to give to her.

Which means the middle brother is the brother of lies, the right is truth, and by elimination the left is both. Pretty much the same, just how I thought about it. I got 4/5

my answer to fifth: just start to put every jar WITHOUT grabbing them back. you can see the solution easily with this way (I think). oh, and I knew all riddles expect for this : )

He got number 3 wrong because the third tank will be the only one full first because it does go up in the small tube but it takes time to fill up tank number 4, and since of how small the tubes tank 3 still slowly and therefore tank 3 Will fill up first Edit:and the way the tube is shaped once some water flows into tank4 it takes time to refill that little bit of water and when the water flows to tank 4 it also swishes back and forth,up and down(in the wierdly shaped tube) so it pushes water back into tank 3 2nd edit:sorry for this comment I just like explaining my Case's

I was thinking that the scale will have battery enough to put one bottle on it, and you can put one, if it shows 100grams, you can continue stacking bottles on bottles. That way you're still weighing one thing, meaning once. Once you hit a ...10 gram you know that that bottle is the one

I'm still looking for the "hard" riddles. All of those were easy. The only one I even had to pause was #4, and that was only because I was making sure it wasn't a trick question after the correct answer came to me so easily. BTW, the last one works better if you do it in multiples of 10, not just 1. That allows for more margin of error, which may be a major consideration with the batteries running so low. It also makes it less likely to mix up the bottles because you can clearly see which is which. Furthermore, you don't need to take any pills from the tenth bottle, it can be 0 instead.

Yay I got the very hard one! Edit: I think what gave it away was that the problem suggested multiplication and since you could only weigh once, you would have to have pills from each bottle on the scale, but a different number from each bottle so that you can use math to find which bottle has the different pills.

That last riddle was in Colombo but instead of pills there was gold

On the thumb nail I solved it because the third tand would fill first

Troy Thompson the way it shows it it's hard to tell but in the vid you can see that the bottom of the tube going into 4 is lower than the top of 3 so 4 would fill to the same height first and then they would both fill at the same time

1st riddle: you have to pull one sock on the draws if it is blur or red switch the red label to blue or switch the blue label with red and you gotta pick the second drawer to see if its a red or blue if its red or blue switch the label to red and blue

Love the sock riddle! So elegant. I've been playing around with variations on it. Does it still work when the bottom drawer starts off labeled "𝘕𝘦𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 red 𝘯𝘰𝘳 blue"? Like maybe green and/or pink etc? You pick out a red sock from that drawer. As in the video, you then replace the label of that drawer with "Red". That means you can't replace the "Red" label on the middle drawer with "Neither red nor blue" since that still leaves the "Blue" label in place at the top, but we're told that top one's incorrect too, so that's the one which has to be replaced with the label "Neither red nor blue", and the middle one now gets to be labeled "Blue". Help me out with your opinions folks, or I'll fear permanent brain damage.

(Provided one of the drawers does contain green socks of course). Is introducing the condition "both red and blue" instead, or my "neither red nor blue" for that matter, just a distracting complication? Yeah, I think you're right.

I can see now the task is basically quite simple. Let's express it by saying you have 3 letters, each of which is paired with a number: A 1 B 2 C 3 We're told each letter should now be paired with a different number. (That's all that could be meant by saying all the present pairings are "incorrect"). We're then given a helpful start by being told B should be paired with 3 instead of 2. The only possible new arrangement is of course A 2, B 3, C 1. But if the task setter is wily enough to make one of these six terms that we're asked to switch a compound of two others A 1 B 2 C 1 or 2, 1 and 2, neither 1 nor 2, etc etc and succeeds in diverting us from treating it as an entirely distinct or separate term, like 3 for example, or 4 or 5 or pink or enormous for that matter, then we (or I at any rate) can get bogged down in unnecessary complications.

I hate doing this with a smartass friend they make you look so stupid😂

4 th one is wrong. You said which one will fill FIRST. 3rd one will fill first and the fourth one will fill second.

The question is written clearly as which tank/ tanks is filled first. There they showed us there is possibility of getting more than 1 tanks filled at a time and visually it is shown how 3&4 is right answer. So the answer is 3&4.

@@kundan5084 No, there are physics. The streaming water with speed (we dont know much) will fill tank 3 quicker. Doesnt have to be a second or so.

I agree it is 3 fills first, 4 would absolutely not fill as fast as the animation shows. Secondly it also depends upon the how fast the volume of water is coming from the faucet/tap and the size of the lumens in those conduits. 4 would likely be the second tank to fill but nowhere near as rapidly as animated.

The output to tank 4 is slightly below the top of tank 3, so tank 3 will not be filled until tank 4 is filled to the same level. The answer in the video is correct, tanks 3 and 4 will fill at the same time. Tanks 1 and 2 will never fill, because tanks 3 and 4 will overflow.

For the bike one couldn’t the sand have been sand that king George once touched or something and the sombrero dude stole it? That’d still be smuggling lmaoooo

The water tank problem assumes the connections between tanks allow water flow greater than the flow of the faucet. If not, then tank 1 may fill first.

The solution to the last one can be made a bit better by not taking the pills out of the last bottle, as you know that if the other pills combined have the expected weight the last one has to be the culprit. I did love the solution to that riddle though, it's a good one.

Huntracony analysis which cinstrains itself unnecessarily isnt doing less simply because it does less physically. Most probably the logic takes like a milisecond while the beans would take like ten seconds, but i dont think this proportion is always the case. If tapping a button allowed you to skip several steps of logic necessary to analyze the data, i think it would make a better solution. Although ill admit youre clever to see this option

Yeah, I actually had this exact same thought at first X D but I think she needs one of the pills that is slightly heavier X D But I was also really confused about this at first : P

I came up with a solution for the last one where you would grab one pill from each of the ten bottles and see how the weight of the pills go up by one gram. If the weight were to go up by 1.1 gram, then which ever bottle you got that pill from would be the bad pills. I’m pretty sure this solution would work as well but maybe I’m misunderstanding something.

Oh man, I totally misunderstood the socks riddle! I thought that the third drawer contained both- blue and red socks, and that they were mixed (which was how the video seemed to describe it)… But, I think I may have figured out an answer to that too- Someone check me please. Say that you take a sock out of the top drawer labeled “blue.” Because every box is labeled incorrectly, you will have drawn out a red sock (or maybe blue sock should you have drawn from mixed drawer, but you know that the drawer is incorrect. I’m using red as an example here). So, take the blue label off of the top drawer and put it aside for a moment. Take the red label from the middle sock drawer and put it in its correct place, then mark the drawer as correct. The top drawer now reads “RED.” (correct) The middle drawer has NO label. (NA) The bottom drawer reads “RED/BLUE.” (incorrect) You know that the bottom drawer labeled “RED/BLUE” is incorrect, and also CANNOT be “RED.” Therefore, the bottom drawer, (previously labeled “Red/Blue”) must be “BLUE,” and the middle drawer must be “RED/BLUE.” And this solution works for all three drawers. Say that you take a sock from the bottom red/blue drawer. Say that it is blue. Now, you know that this drawer’s label is incorrect, and so you know that you have just pulled a sock from the blue drawer. You can then take off the “Red/Blue” label and put it aside. The last problem has many answers, I feel like the explanation given in the video could have been a bit simpler. Label the bottles using "zero-based numbering method". Take the number of pills from each bottle equal to its bottle's number, and add those pills to the scale. There should be a total of 45 pills (note that you take 0 pills from bottle 0, or the first bottle) The decimal digit of the scale will determine the bottle in which the pills are different. example: If the total weight of the pills are 45.4, then we focus on the last number (decimal position) which is 4. The pills in bottle 4 are the different ones.

1st riddle: solved 2nd riddle: solved 3rd riddle: kind of solved 4th riddle: solved 5th riddle: this took me a while but solved

I solved 4

The funny thing was the 4th riddle was easier than the first ones. I kinda answered the 5th halfway through. The simple explanation for 4 is that, since no one from the other 2 justified that the one who is seated in the middle is the one who tells the truth and lies, it means that the person who will tell that the person in the middle is the lier is the one who tells the truth.

I guess only 4!

In the last one you will mix all the pills when you put all of them at once, so couldn't know which ones are heavyer ones...

There’s a loophole to riddle 5: if you weigh any bottle of pills, it will either be 1 gram or 1.1 grams... if it is 1.1 then all of the other bottles are ok. If it is one gram than you know at least one bottle is safe😇.

but if granny takes the 1.1, she could die. she needs 10 1 gram pills a day, but one 1.1 every 10 days.

I think that for the last one it would be easier to grab one pill from each bottle put them one the scale (keeping them together) one by one so it can go 1 gram, 2 gram..., until you add one pill and it skips a number let's say from 5 grams to 7 grams the one that you just added that will be the pill with 2 grams

Itzy 29266 there are multiple reasons why this wouldn’t work given the parameters (only can use the scale once), plus its a difference of 0.1 grams per pill for the life saving ones, not 1

For the 5th riddle, I wouldn't use the scale at all. I would improvise a balance to see which bottle is heavier than the others.

The biggest riddle is when did your grandma start selling pills by the 100’s

I got 3 half right and 4 right. Also I have another solution for 5. Line all the bottles up. Place on pill from the first one down. Then the 2nd 3rd and so on. If you place a pill and it has a 0.1 thingy, you found the pill. Pick that pill up. WELL DONE!!!

For the first riddle they never said you couldn't just look in the droors

Got all except the water one. Assumed the bottom middle tank would be first to fill, but forgot that 2 could fill simultaneously.

My solution for the first riddle was to look in every drawer, because you are just not not allowed to TAKE more than one sock

The last you could solve by taking one pill from each bottle, and add one pill at a time to see if it would weight 0.1 gram more

For the last one you could just weight 9 if it is 100 gram take from the one that isn’t there and replace the battery some other time

There's another way to solve the fifth riddle 1. Firstly take 1 pill from any of the bottles and weigh it 2. If it weighs 1 gram then you can give that bottle of pills to granny and she is safe and you can get another scale to find the odd pills out 3. If it weighs 1.1 grams those are the odd pills so get another bottle and give it to granny

For the 1st riddle you can open them all. It said you can only take 1 sock, never said you couldn't open them all.

Third riddle is incorrect. The 3rd container would fill 1st. In fact the 4th won’t fill up at all. I made a tiny model

There is no possible way for tank one or two to fill up because the weight of the water from tank 3 would force water up the tube at an equal level 3 and 4 would fill up at the same time your models were either built incorrectly or you did this experiment in a place with no gravity

Granny doesn’t need ALL the pills right away to live, right? So, can’t you just weigh one to five bottles, if they’re is safe, use them, if not, use the other one(s). Then, once she is okay, find out another way to figure it out, like get a new scale.

The second riddle was the hardest!!

If grandma wants one good pill than measure any pill you will be able to give grandma the right pill

The last one I thought that way: Pile up all the ten bottles on the lift. The sum of all the pills would be 100gx9 + 110=1010g. Then I would take off one by one of the top of the pile. After taking off the first one, the lift display would show 900g if that was the right one, if not it would be 910g. Then 910g, taking one off, it could show 810g or 800g, taking one off of 810g, 710g or 700g, and so on. But you could argue about the bottles' weigh. I think it wouldn't be a problem if they weighed the same. The sum of weigh would be 1010g + 10xb. Nonetheless, the right bottle would have more weigh. Doing the taking off stuff, the bottle that I took off that would make more difference in the sum would be the right one.

I got 3 right the red and blue socks, the containers or water and the 3 brothers. I think I did pretty good if I do say so myself

Pirate Craft The socks well: since u know that all are mixed up and u should open the blue and red sock then u will either find blue or red (because if it would be blue and red it wouldn be mixed) but for now the blue and red socks one has red socks so we know where the red socks are ... now we need to find blue socks... but since blue cant be it self we know that in the blue one is at the moment the mixed sock blue and red and blue is there where red was at the start

The counterintuitive part of the socks riddle, which requires more puzzle knowledge than logic, is that all the drawers are labeled wrong. Not might be labeled wrong, are labeled wrong. So if you pick the drawer labeled mixed, you can be assured it's not mixed. With that insight the rest of the logic probably doesn't need to be explained if you just look at it again. With the three brothers you look at who might be the brother of truth: - The left brother claims the middle brother is the brother of truth, which means that he himself can't be as that would mean he was lying about the middle brother, which the brother of truth would not do. - The middle brother claims he is the brother of both, which if true means he's obviously not the brother of truth as he's already the brother of both, and if false he can't be the brother of truth as he'd be lying. So the only one left who can be the brother of truth is the right one. He claims the middle brother is the brother of lies, and you know he always speaks the truth, so that statement is true. And the only brother remaining is the brother of both, who has to sit in the only remaining seat which is the left one.

The brother in the middle says he is the brother of both. He can't be telling the truth, because the other 2 are truth and lies, so truth would say both is in the middle as well. So the middle is the brother of lies. The brother on the right says so too, so he is truth. Which leaves the brother on the left as the brother of both.

Regarding the Three Brothers Riddle: I'll outline my analytical process. We know there are 6 total permutations/combinations in which the brothers can be arranged (Truth-T ; Liar-L ; Both-B) I'll list them below: 1. T L B 2. T B L 3. B T L 4. B L T 5. L B T 6. L T B Now, I went through each of the brother's statements and ruled out the incorrect combinations. The person on the left says "The brother of Truth sits in the middle" From this, we can cross out numbers 1, 2 and 6. The person in the middle says "The brother of Both sits in the middle" From this, we can cross out number 3. The person on the right says "The brother of Lies sits in the middle" From this, we can cross out number 5. Finally, we are left with only option 4. B L T as the correct combination : 3 Hope this helps ~

Fun trivia ; The last one was in an episode of Columbo called bye bye sky high iq (using coins in bags instead of pills)

Riddle 3 was incorrect. Just tank three, not four. This is because the pipe that connect the two is vertical, meaning the water would have to travel upwards. Water cannot do this without an immense amount of pressure. That pressure would be present once the tank fills atleast halfway. But, another flaw in this is how fast the water flows. This is because if the water comes out of the faucet faster that it drains to another tank, then tank 1 would fill up first.

No the water is flowing in and out tank 1 at the same speed so 3 will fill up and tank 4 will not have any water at all.
