Such good points. My favorite is letting go of the search for the “perfect” image and just enjoy the process. Second is looking for the shots with the lens you have - not the one sitting at home!

Remember the days of film? When we had only 36 pictures on one roll? One way to limit / constrain the number of (digital) photographs you take is to use small SD cards - like a 2GB card on which you can take maybe 60 pictures (1 RAW + 1 JPG per shot). Added bonus - you don't have so much stuff to sort through ("develop") when you get home.

Well said. Most I adhere to but I am guilty of having no assignment when out and about. Now the Mrs., a million pictures per year. If it moves, a picture, she's hilarious.

This is so hard to do mentally sometimes. But you're right. I have to remember the photo doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to feel good. Finding a purpose is something that I've been finding is hard for me to find. But I think it's also simply because of when everything else in life seems to go wrong it's hard to pull yourself away. But I definitely think it's getting better and I hope to simply enjoy a photographic session very soon! Thank. you again Peter!

I think reason four is especially true, especially for photographers who have never filmed for film. In digital photography, taking thousands of useless pictures is just too effortless, and cheap.

Terrific tips. Thanks. I tend to use either the 17mm f1.8 or the 20mm f1.4. I haven't done a "day of manual," which I'll try. I like the idea of carrying a small portfolio and the idea of how to do a photoshoot with friends.

Like these tips, having a purpose is a big one that helps. I've found that I do better when I look at something I want to improve and go out with that in mind. Lately it's been working on composition since that's been a weak point of mine for awhile.

@@ForsgardPeter of course, that's why I like to bring my camera along on daily walks around the property at lunch. It's nice to just get my mind off work and take shots. Bonus to that is if I need a break in the afternoon I can sift through photos and edit for a few minutes.

This makes me think of the "I have a very full closet" but "I have NOTHING to wear" sort of problem. Too many options but can't pick out the gear to do anything.

I'll add one that pairs well with the one about the lens; if your "good camera" is at home, the BEST camera is the one you brought.

I think your last reason number 5 is the most important reason. You get some people who think if they have a Leica they will suddenly turn into Cartier-Breson. When you see their pictures they could have taken them with any cheap camera.

Yes, true. My way: I get inspiration of some books/KZread videos to find more creativity through concentrate of one thing/way to photograph - like in one of your last videos in which you are inspired of photographing yellow things. All in playfull, not in dogged way. Sometimes a good photo happened simply that way without planing or thinking only by seeing and mindfulness.

Hi Peter. Just got my OM1 and far from impressed that it is a Wow camera. Real trouble in setting autofocus points - they are not the same as my EM1. Also using camera with a lens with built in ibis. Could you do a short video on this as I am going on a wildlife holiday 1st May and it would be extremely useful. Regards. Ray

The AF works a bit differently. For wildlife I would try the whole area and then Subject Tracking. Is the lens that you are using a M.Zuiko lens? If it is, no problem if the lens has IS. Turn it on and use both the lens IS and IBIS.

I had an idea a while ago for an app that charges a small amount (10p, 10c or whatever) and donates it to charity every time you take a photo. That should make people stop and think before snapping away.

Hi Peter, love your channel! You know I just have to disagree with you on a couple of points. When I got out on a photo drive of at least 200 miles here in very low southern California, I take ALL my photo gear. I might see an old building that needs 120 film cam, and then I might come across a coyote in the wild that needs my EM1X and a long lens. My point here is I do not “know’ what I might come upon, so I take ALL my gear as I travel by car and that takes care of the weight… And on another point, I shoot a ton of photos because when I get home I have days of exploring what I shot, good or bad. I just love seeing what I shot on my so many cameras, so exciting to see what I shot. Kinda like waiting for that film roll to come back… When I go out , I have no expectations, I go to see what is out there. Now don’t get me wrong, sometimes I have a specific goal in mind, and I choose the camera best fits the situation. P.S. I never chimp my photos...
