I think that you made an excellent choice Mark. As to trim, some things to do that will help avoid damage, and embarrassment are as follows: Trim the motor to the trailering position any time you tie to a dock. If you do this, it will get you in to the habit so that you never drag you motor up the launch ramp when pulling out of the water. Next: trim the motor full down any time you come off the step, (when the hull comes off plane, and sinks back in to the water). This will give you Better low speed handling, and you will avoid the embarrassment of attempting to accelerate with the engine trimmed up, which causes the bow to come up very sharply. Something to do just to feel the effectiveness of the trim: Trim full down and then slowly accelerate to wide open throttle. Let the speed stabilize, and then start to slowly tap the trim up. Feel how the weight comes off the bow, and the boat begins to accelerate again. If the bow begins to bounce, don't panic, and pull the throttle back, just start tapping the trim down until the bouncing stops. Later, after you have tried this experiment, and are just operating the boat normally, you can start trimming up as the boat climbs up on the step. You will quickly get the feel of her, and this will become instinctive. I am not a professional boat handler, but I have operated dozens of small boats as a marine mechanic, while performing drivability testing, and on demo rides that I have done with customers. I know that you , and your family are going to have a blast with your new boat. I can't wait for the fun, and fishing videos. Will there be some wakeboarding in the future?

Amazing, Very Interesting, the aluminium hull is very light and a great material for boat building, though not the standard. The boat is essentially is a metal RIB, which are known as the safest type of boats on the planet (they often use them for oil rig maintenance and Commando / Navy operations). You can also see that the hull looks like a Deep V which makes it seaworthy in rough seas. One thing you need to be careful in general is catching the chimes on sharp turns which can throw everyone out of the boat. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS ALWAYS WEAR A KILL CORD WHEN THE ENGINES RUNNING (I'm sure they made that point on the course though). Great to see people getting involved, uv got to get the doughnut out next.

That's a terrific boat Mark. I've had my boat for nearly 20 years and still use it every week to go fishing. We occasionally tow the kids around on the float as well and on occasions I throw the swag in and head up river for a night under the starts and to sit around a campfire. Yes boats cost you money but life is so much better with one. Good luck!

All boats have their pros and cons, it all depends on what type of fishing you do, where and in what conditions you want to fish in. Its sad that you have to explain your stance so much beforehand due to the nature of youtubers, but I do love the way you do so, your a very humble being! As a diver/spear fisherman here in the USA, (Oregon). I've owned inflatable boats (3x) because of their stability which means safety. I use them out on the Pacific Ocean. There have been times when I've been out on the ocean with other divers and family and friends in the boat and we've gotten caught in heavy winds which created rough seas with massive waves (this has happened many times over the years). A couple of times, my inflatable got filled with water to the point where the gas tank had to be heald above the waterline and the head of the engine was sticking out of the water. This boat just chugged along, slowly. The only problem is the boats are made out of heavy fabric. Although they are very tough and I've only had one hole in the fabric. This happened when a spear point accidentally poked the tube. Even with that hole and a slow loose of air it still held up. Over the years I've looked for the ultimate boat and the Stabicraft rose to the top of the list. I drooled over these boats. I was always fascinated by the lines and the beautiful welds on these boats. True craftsmanship. Good choice! You choose wisely. Have fun and good fishing. Love what you're doing with both of your channels.

@@jonathanle7161 what do you prefer between the fisher and supercab models ? I would love a walk around, but probably limited to a used 2050 max. Considering as small as a 1550 and wondering how much difference you have found between your small stabicrafts. There is a lot of chop by me, mostly shallow water although I would like to go out in 3-4’ seas and have an enclosure for bad weather although shade and ventilation during the hot summer. Any info is appreciated!

Hi Mark, great boat just keep an eye on the anchor well ours corroded out in less than 3 years, even with meticulously cleaning the boat and washing out the anchor well after use.Its a known issue although stabicraft will deny it..Some rubber matting in the anchor well to stop the chain rubbing on the inside of the well seems to be the solution.

Its hard sometimes for me to understand the fear some people have when starting boating but then I have 60 yrs experience and have never not owned a boat of my own since 1968 and currently have 3. But its just inexperience you have a great boat and a good mindset take it easy at first build the experience and soon a competent person like yourself will be really enjoying the ocean safely. Top boat and awesome for those bar crossings or when caught out in the rough stuff, enjoy it.

Great boat Mark, good size, definitely want to be at least as big as the crocodiles and sharks. Remember to have a spare gas tank, spare battery, shear pins and loud air horn and tow rope some paddles never hurt either also be sure your batteries are both charged and your gas is good. Good luck.

That is a really fine looking boat! And how you reached your decision was really informative and interesting. One thing I wondered is why did you choose the black color? We have - I think - a pretty similar climate to yours (subtropical) here in Florida, and I would have thought that a black boat would be pretty hot, particularly on those sunny, windless days. (Well, any boat will be hot on those days, but I would think black would be a lot hotter.) Was it an availability issue? or just cause it looks so cool? Thanks!

Hey Mark; that's a great boat you've got. I've only done a little welding, but can tell those on the boat are real consistent quality. I looked into going inshore fishing on a boat here in the UK. They don't require it, but recommend taking a course for safety. This covered the marine VHF radio license, procedures and protocols in case of emergencies, preparations before going to sea etc. 156.8Mhz International Marine Emergency Channel (best to know it and never need it, than need it and not know it). Last thing; what are you going to name your boat? Stay safe & tight lines!

A buddy of mine just sent me a bunch of pictures of a bright orange one. His friend in Washington State bought one in New Zealand and drove it all the way north to nearly the Canadien border

Can the superstructure be removed? These boats are available in Canada now but won’t fit under any of my local lake bridges with that up

It does have a certain military attack boat look to it(understandable with your background), but all black out in the sun....doesn't she get a little hot on the surfaces ? Layout looks great though...and that back table might save you from getting pulled over when you land the big one.(humor, but maybe true.) How far are you from the coast, and do you have Mahi,Mahi fish down there ? Its the best.

Hi there. By any chance would you know the height from the highest point of the rocket launcher to the ground? I am very much considering this exact model but cannot find height measurements anywhere. Same with the rocket launcher/ bimini folded down.

Man Id love to have one of those as a center console. Stabi makes a boat thats able to take heavier seas than others its size. My Gulf of Mexico gets mean fast with our thunderstorms and Ive had the crap scared out of me on 40' boats.

If you could explain estuaries and the passage a bit more? And how far are you from a body of water where you can use your boat? Hmm 90,000aud is like 69,777usd so for a nice big boat that's not bad at all! And now I'm curious if you will try your experiment again where you only eat from your own garden and what you can forage and fish? Will you be doing videos on the different fish you can catch there? And will there be new merch for this channel? So very very happy about your new boat and can't wait for more content!!!!!! Very Proud to be a fan and Patron!!!
