    When I heard you mention your size and weight I reminded myself that you are the best motorcycle reviewer on KZread. So many reviewers don't mention these key facts when describing how their motorcycles fit them making the comparisons somewhat vague. Not our Flyer. You're also such an impressive rider (pilot?) and it's great that you always frame the road shot properly as well instead of looking down at the dang instruments. Love the Bike news too. I don't think our Southern California Canyon Racers could handle the gooey roads in England the way you do by the way. A+

    Back in the 70's I had a T160 Trident which was great fun but when I put a picture of it beside this new Trident I realised why I hate the modern 'Volvo car park' look so much. Try it and you'll see too!! Excellent summary of the bike Andy and definitely a great choice out of similar style and size options available at the moment!! Were I still riding I'd go out and find a T160 tomorrow!!

    I took my Tiger Explorer for it’s MoT and annual service to Youles Triumph in Blackburn this afternoon and due to the mezzanine lounge/waiting area I was able to ‘browse’ the bikes on the showroom from a social distance and I was mightily impressed with the Trident. Looking forward to booking a test ride when we’re able to. I’ll be keeping the Explorer for a long time yet, but the Trident would be the perfect second bike for when you just want a quick blast with your jeans on and a casual jacket.

    Man, whomever is in charge of anesthetic design at Triumph should get a raise. I think every style bike they make is beautiful. The Bobber and Speedmaster are gorgeous cruisers, the Tigers are spectacular looking ADV bikes, the Bonneville line is about as nice as a retro bike can look, and this new Trident looks fantastic as well. Hats off to the Triumph team.

    My 09 Street Triple had the best chassis for a motorcycle that I have ever ridden. I am considering this bike. I'm 67 and don't need a track bike just a little fun bike. This seems to check all the boxes. I have a touring bike, a cruiser, and a dual sport. This should fill in the fun factor.

    Short story. I went to collect my Triumph Trident 660 from a dealer, thinking I was going to get the silver and red one. When I turned up to collect my new bike. I made the assumption it was going to be the one previously mentioned. To my shock I ordered the plain Jane black version. But now I'm liking it. Because it a nice subtle design, which I think grows on you. It's classic looking with a nice small triumph badge So in the end Im glad that I got that model.

    Yamaha has sold a lot of MT07s. The Trident looks good but the Yamaha is also a fun bike to ride and for that matter so is the Honda and both are also known for their stone axe reliability. A few have commented about the rear numberplate hanger - & let's face it we all replace standard position hangers with R&G anyway. I personally like this style of hanger but can't understand why manufacturers that use them don't incorporate the indicators into the rear light, or place them on the tail as per the gsxr's a few years ago. That would leave a much cleaner profile, lighter, so the stay/cable mount could be thinner, & then if they produced a (legal) curved numberplate doubling up as the "mudguard" it woudl be a much neater job - just needing a small numberplate led above it. Come on R&G.........

    Just curious where you feel the CB fits? It's more powerful, looks better; subjective I know, not that the Trident isn't attractive, and priced within a skinny digit of the Triumph. It also has very good build quality, a screaming four cylinder engine, and should be very reliable.

  • @ragerider6283

    @ragerider6283

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@kevincrockett5155 It's an interesting & valid point. I'm not really a fan of the CB but that's subjective as you say & it's definitely a serious competitor because the price of the Triumph has now pushed the ceiling of the class up to encompass the CB. Before it was about a grand+ more than the others bikes in this class with a lot more power so not a direct rival as such. Personally I think the Triumph is cooler & more desirable than the CB but the different engine configurations will play a role & it will be an interesting group test. The other Japanese manufacturers really need to up their game but ironically I would still buy an SV for that engine & spend the difference on a full system. Go figure lol.

    Regarding the quality of their bikes, I think it depends where you read. There are owners of Speed Twins with surprising accounts of corrosion and clocks fogging for example. And those who have no issues at all. Thruxton was the same, there's a long list for that one. Corrosion, random stalling, broken wiring loom at headstock, gear selector shaft shearing, water ingress to instruments, brake lever pulls to the bars on first pull, side stand spring breaking (bike cuts out as switch goes open circuit), arcing spark plug caps. There's probably other more trivial issues I've overlooked. I still own mine in spite of all this so work that one out🤷‍♂️

    I love the look, very close to a neo modern classic look wise, or maybe it is. anyway it looks like a bike should do. But the only thing that would keep me from buying it is that I still cant go over the choice of the way the modern frames look or are constructed from. Basically if you have been around in at least the 90s you would remember that the budget bikes used cheap steel beam like frames like the Trident uses. Many bikes that are considered "budget or learner bikes" use simple steel frames like that or even steel frames that try to make you think it is a twin spar alu frame yet they do catch a fancy penny in the end. I just cant come over that such designs are now on much bigger bikes with much higher price tag than back in the 90s. The best solution if you ask me is the old hornet900,cb1000r and the current cb1000r(especially the prototype with the 80s clothing on... Nom nom nom, that is how you design a steel frame that is cheap yet nobody like me can start raging about that the frame looks cheap because it is hidden :P Dont get me started on the hideous and cheap looking trellis frame on the naked h2... omg, that fabulous frame of the h2 would look so nice on a naked bike but I guess every penny is to be saved and it is cheaper do design a new ugly one than change geo on the h2 frame(usually they dont do it at all, but change geo with longer swing arm, different susp links and different angles on the tripple crown/yokes. :P Bah, rant over, anyway Trident is basically how a classical bike should handle like, do we smell a retro clad version of the Trident coming up making the t100/t120 obsolete?

    Good points. I expect Triumph to sell a real lot of these. Will they sell anymore 660cc Street Triple A2s at £1k more ? I think that will get dropped. At one point I thought I also wanted a 4 cylinder bike. I tested some, very smooth, but you do have to wind them up more than a triple. A triple does give power more where you need it on road riding. Yeah I get it that to win at MotoGP or the Isle of Man, it really needs to be a 4 cylinder, on the road a triple is definitely in the goldilocks zone of torque and reviness (is that even a word ?)
