I have it and literally turning it on puts the thing at 99% capacity, and having Chrome open is sure to crash it. The problems only come in after the date where you can return it goes by, which is disgusting. The storage space is a joke, 32GB, and Windows leaves you with just 6-10GB with it installed, and bloatware keeps on coming back effectively rendering the laptop useless. I am planning to get an Ideapad 320 for just £50 more than the Stream costs, and it can play games like Fortnite at 30fps with the settings down. Hasta la vista, HP.

@LRN Vital not everyone lives in the states, and that means that the used market in some of these places can be very narrow

*DO NOT BUY A LAPTOP WITH ONLY 32GB STORAGE!* I have worked on multiple laptops like this and they run out of space from just downloading Windows Updates. There is no way to avoid this, even if you use a micro SD for extra storage. There is no way to swap out the hard drive and you are stuck with 32GB forever.

I had the exact same one in the video, dont get it. The thing overheats, and when it does it freezes completely, the audio gradually slows down and becomes gritty, and thats when it slows down.

A Xeon.. why?

This is the laptop my school sent me. It barely runs. The screen is nearly bendable. I treat it kindly and had dead pixels within 3 months. It can barely run KZread. But because they have it hard locked on Windows 7 it can run chrome. It lives for 3 days on normal usage (3-4 hours of school work). The Bluetooth doesn’t work at all. It’s not worth the cheap price.

I have the hp stream 11 ( not 14, its a 2016 model) This is what i did to make it awsome - I have the hp stream 11. Got it for $200, i added adapters, external graphics card, external SSD, upgraded ram to 16GB, changed CPU to i5 and i can play gta 5 at 59 FPS max Total spent - $657 + pc monitor used as screen ( plugged thru hdmi) I could of gotten a better laptop, but it was a gift and i dont sell gifts that took others time to buy.

i love how i wanted to get this laptop (is buying tomorow) and this pops up in my feed lmao nice (paying 192.72$)

I used to use one of these as my main computer, but now I use it as a server for light tasks. I now use an older Toshiba Satellite C655-S5132 as my main computer.

Mr.Evans, can you please the difference between the stream 14 vs 14t? Sometimes the 14t price reduces to 199$ so, should i consider it or the stream 14?

What kills it for me is that low memory. Only 4 GB is pitiful. That low eMMC storage doesn't help it much, either. Only 32 GB? Just my pictures folder would take up a good chunk of that.

Every hp laptop I've own has always cost me problems like the one I have randomly gets the blue screen of death and then it a black screen that's says scan to find a drive problem and nothing can be found and when I turn my laptop on and off again it goes back to normal

I brought my dad the original and he still uses it today. It’s perfect for what he needs a computer for. Basic tasks and web browsing.

As any good techie would do (and what I say when people as my opinion on PCs), you asked the first question, "What are you planning to do with it?". Your point about how people really use their machines vs. what they pay for them is spot on.

Do not buy this laptop. I work one these regularly. They are absolutely horrible. Spend more on the thing you are going to use on a regular basis, please. Don't get this, even for a student or a child.

PXL-Cube maybe when you’re not trying to get WiFi to work, or Bluetooth, or Ethernet, or a printer. Or figuring out how to use the freeware versions of more well-known apps. Linux is great but trying to get people to use it based off price is cringe to me because I have ALWAYS ended up those peoples tech support in my experience.

I would still rather use Linux over Windows for other reasons. It's easier to update, less of a pain if you HAVE to reinstall, and (this last one is more subjective) doesn't have any unnecessary animations like Windows 10 or Mac OS.

i use this at my job for video conferences and data transfers and its GREAT. i wouldn't try to run any heavy programs off this thing because of the hardware limitations but it makes for a good business/travel laptop

You have to reinstall to a newer version of windows every couple of months on these machines, microsoft for some reason decided to keep leftover windows update files instead of deleting them and the 32gb drive just gets full.

I bought an HP Silver Ci3 Fusion and it's great. It's $300 with an i3 6100U and 8 GB of DDR4. It runs esports titles perfectly fine, it can even run Overwatch at medium settings at 60 FPS. 100% worth it. Things is only compromise is the screen. It's just eh.

We have an old MSI laptop in the ICT class that never gets used.

32 GB of internal memory is not enough especially when it's mounted on the board. I am suffering with windows updates. Everytime I want to get the latest version of windows I have to format my pc.

I just can't understand why Microsoft allows laptops with only 32GB storage. The size of the Windows OS increases with time, to the point where it becomes impossible to download Windows Updates because there is no room left to store the update file.

I got an earlier incarnation of one of these to take in to hospital with me. Didn't realise it only had ONE wifi antenna which made for a really weak wifi experience. But it was usable, until Windows pushed out a mandatory update. Then it became more sluggish than frozen molasses at the north pole. It now sits on my shelving, forgotten, gathering dust. Never to be used again.

People like you are why my friends make fun of me, and why I can never convince my parents to buy me a decent computer.

How well will iTunes run on it? I just need something cheap, Win10 enabled to be able to edit iTunes stuff.

What about updating software on the computer? Cuz I have a Windows tablet it's an older one given to me by my aunt who didn't want it and I had an issue with updating its software and updates , it supports the latest updates but it doesn't have enough space to download those patches. Will this computer suffer that same fate with not being able to update the Windows updates or security patches for anyting? Can this computer run emulators with that processor?

Lenovo or Asus. Intel core i5 or i7. With 8gb of ram minimum and if you can get one with solid state drive regardless if is 64gb, 128 or 256gb your laptop will run fast and smooth, no more waiting time on loading and booting your pc! But yeah prepare to spend anything from 600-1000 dlls

Can it change the hard disk?

I need a editing/schoolwork computer, any suggestions?

Jibby Esuruoso no. Seriously i have that laptop with mc on it and if you want about 10fps on it . it sucks

You can get a significantly better computer used. This laptop will slow the F down after a month of use and updates. We have so many people bring in these because they are slow and we can't do anything. My dad was gifted one. It took 20mins to install chrome.

Now there's your problem. Don't customize it. Just use Windows Edge out the box and be happy. Also, Chrome is a known memory and CPU hog.

Or install a linux distro. I've had an asus e403sa with a pentium n4200 for a year and a half now, and it's still as fast as the day I bought it. Not that fast though.

Yes installing Linux would run fine on this. I still would prefer picking up a used gen 2-3 i3/i5 for the same price or less. If you were patient you could snag a 3rd Gen i5 in good condition with 6-8gb ram, replace the battery and upgrade the hard drive to a 128gb ssd for the same cost.

You've got a point, but as a student, I'm not (only) after best performance for the money. I actually need the 10-hours battery life that these low-powered braswell / apollo lake / gemini lake permit, and I prefer a semi (asus e403) or full-metal (acer swift 1, teclast f7) build if I'm going to take the laptop in and out of my backpack everyday. 4gb of RAM is annoying if you're using win10 and chrome, but it's plenty for linux and firefox. (edit: it's got an n3700, not an n4200, it's a lot slower, but it just goes to prove my point)

If it can't run a web browser than what good is it? People should spend the extra money or look for something used instead. This toy is just going to end up in the trash

I want a laptop under 200$ widows to play sims 4 on any recommendations?

Is there any way I can add or expand the storage for installing more programs?

1st for all because it is cheap 2nd of all because it is worth it 3rd of all because it looks nice 4th of all because it have nice specs for its price 5th and last of all because it perfects daily taxes

I have the same model, almost 7 years later and 4 reinstalls of windows and yet it still chugs doing basic video streaming.

Pretty sure the library in my college has these for people who are studying and everyone said they are piping hot garbage.
