Музыка
If you’re wondering how you can write bass lines that sound like Green Day then this video is for you. Here I analyse the music and bass lines of Green Day and give you 5 reasons why the bass is great. I have been uploading Green Day tab videos recently and I have spotted a few compositional techniques that are used by Mike Dirnt.

100% mate, his gibson g3 grabber bass tone honestly drives the whole album and is so well accompanied with Billy's guitar. Such a big sound. I'm so glad those were some of the first songs i learnt on bass.
Love the analysis.
Another top-notch analysis of another great player! I was going to mention the G.3 but I see its already been mentioned in the comments
Good video and alot of work out into it. I just got a fender P bass and want to kinda get a Mike dirnt tone etc so I'm just watching video's etc. Nice!

Have you checked out the Green Day Rig Run Down video? That's got some good info towards the end. Thanks for the comment!

I agree, he has his own style for sure. I watched a video of him playing solo the other day and he has hidden chops that we don't see in Green Day.
this should have more views!

Thanks Luciano! More views would be cool but comments such as this make it worth it.
It's not a 59, it's his signature which is modeled after a 54 but with the split coil pickups. The standard p bass design came out in 1957, so a 59 isn't that different from a 63 or 77 or modern p bass
He also played a Gibson G3 during the Dookie era. Just sayin' 😜

@@mastniburek5386 Possibly yeah. You see him playing the G3 a lot at live shows around that era though.

The story I have read is he used a P bass which he hired on Dookie, but it was a PJ set up. Hence why it has a bit more of a rich tone than a organic type of sound of a pure P bass. He started using P basses live in the Nimrod era.
Anyone else understood "My dad is the bass player from Green Day" and thought "wow cool, Mike Dirnt's son made a video about his dad's bass playing!"?
