My favorite barrier care is from Stratia. Lipid Gold is HG and I use it daily. When I'm super dry, I use Aquaphor as a sleeping pack. I just can't spend money on Drunk Elephant, the way they spoke to and replied to customers that had concerns or issues was disgusting. Very interesting to see the western brands go full speed ahead on the barrier repair trend, but i cannot at all complain! I can't remember where I left my comment regarding the new Peach and Lily barrier repair cream and serum but....at first I didn't care for either but the cream is growing on me. I'm almost certain I'll repurchase. Sadly my thoughts haven't changed about the serum 😢 It's the texture for me. It dries so quickly, as soon as you put it on it's absorbing and it doesn't have that silky slip to it so you have to be quick when applying. If not you'll have to use more. It also dries leaving that feeling that something is sitting on your skin ( if that makes sense ) I think it's one of those serums you can't use too much of otherwise it's gonna feel heavy. But the cream really is nice. It's not heavy ( but my skin is on the drier side ) and it does have a natural smell to it ( maybe from the oatmeal ) but it doesn't linger. I would suggest trying the cream first. If you love it then try the serum.

My skin isn’t dry except in January and February midwest winters and when I get too aggressive with tretinoin. I go straight for an ointment like vanicream moisturizing ointment or cerave healing ointment. Sometimes I mix it with Avene cicalfate cream which is essentially the same thing as diaper rash cream. This is the combo my dermatologist’s laser technician recommends after an in office laser. Not for everyday use but great for occasional problems with skin barrier

It’s likely because the airless pumps have been asked for by consumers for a long time because airless helps ingredients maintain their integrity for longer. For ingredients like vitamin c and retinol this is a must, but for these barrier creams… I don’t think it’s necessary beyond helping bacteria to stay out of products because you won’t be dipping your fingers directly in the creams.

Second of all, the drunk elephant cream ingredients list is heavenly 😮 I don’t need barrier repair but I need oils and lipids, and with my skin type I could probably use this everyday. I am quite happy using the DRMTLGY peptide night cream, but I gotta say that the Murad system looks phenomenal on you, and is peaking my interest. The one think I wish these brands came out with is a complementary barrier repair toner/ essence packed either hydrating ingredients because barrier repair creams can have a tendency to not have long lasting moisture. @@AliceintheRabbitHole I was so excited to try those but won't repurchase. The serum is light but dries feeling heavy 😞 The moisturizer was meh. When it comes to skincare I either ABSOLUTELY 💯 LOVE it, hate it or it's just a meh lol I didn't care for the way they felt on my skin. I'd say try if on sale but I don't think their worth the price. I only bought both because I made 2 separate orders. Used a $10 off for both, used a gift card that was gifted to me for the cream and used my Ulta points for the serum so when it was all said and done it didn't cost me much. The serum was $3 something lol But that's how it works with skincare, always a hit or miss and you won't know until you try. I've been using the I'm From Rice Cream on my neck and WOW !!! I got the drunk elephant bora cream a while back and it pilled so badly on me. Idk if I’ve just been spoiled with Korean skincare and their moisturizers not being able to pill even if I tried, but man. What the heck?! I loved the ingredient list which is why I got it but I have weird ADHD sensory issues and cannot handle crumbs on my face. Maybe it sat in the freezing cold too long? Tell me I’m the only one. Also tried the new DRMTLGY barrier sleeping mask and that one pilled even worse! But again ingredients are good and don’t look like they should pill

Oh wow, I didn’t notice pilling at all. Hmmm, yeah perhaps something happened in transit from the cold weather? (I’d return if you can, in that case) Also I am VERY over winter, haven’t we had enough of this extra cold winter 🥶🥶

It’s funny that you said the DE was thicc because i just opened mine tonight for the first time and my initially thought was, “oh, lighter than i expected!” 😂 i just finished off a glossier after baume and that is…thicccccc. Thicker and more occlusive feeling than the DE! Though (at least on first time use) I’d say the DE feels more comestically elegant

You are the first person I’ve read say this. Most reviews I’ve seen say it’s thick, hard to spread, and the moisture is minimal. Maybe there is a consistency issue? I got a sample from Sephora and it doesn’t feel thick or hard to spread in the packet.

Unfortunately I won't purchase any product that has fragrance. Also yes these products look nice but I just can't justify the price. Moisturizers should never cost a fortune.

Somehow…it feels thicker That said, with how thick (if this word encapsulates it) TirTir’s ampoule is, that’s the brand I’ll be eyeing to see if they can dupe the DE!

So the Drunk Elephant, I've heard that it dries down beautifully. Is that the case? Like it's not super shiny/glow-y looking? The Lala Retro is like that....I wouldnt call it a matte texture but it's not shiny and that's why I always liked Lala.

@AliceintheRabbitHole lol thanks! I usually don't wear foundation/concealer so the finish of moisturizers and sunscreens is crucial. It looked nice right after you applied it, but then cut away. And it's via video, so I can't see super well.

I really think the biggest change I made in that sense is a retinoid (I use adapalene). That aside, hydrating AND emollient products, such as the tirtir I talked about last week and the experiment skincare products I’ll be talking about soon ☺️

I have been close attention to these Sephora kids. This is deep psychological stuff many kids in their mid to late 20s and 30s blame us babyboomer moms for not spoiling them enough, not caring and i mean this is a feeaking global epidemic. So parents of these tweens are slathering these kids with lulu lemon , Louis Vuitton, designer everything, ranhe rovers trips to exotic locales i could go on . The parents are avoiding the estranged parent syndrome by over indulging . So yea cartier for kids, Teslas for the teens, grad parties in Costa Rica. I live it i watch it. I lost 1 daughter to this no i couldnt afford drunk elephant for 3 girls but i did my best. 😢

Yeahhh I noticed the blame game in the one video I watched on the topic. Seems to me that this simply HAS to be the result of multiple issues bottlenecking: the consumption-oriented world, the TikTok instant gratification, the lack of socialization these kids had (I mean honestly, I cannot imagine going through a pandemic at what, 7? Awful.) and probably multiple other factors as well. I feel for these kids, but this really seems like a symptom rather than a manifestation of the problem itself. Sephora isn’t mad about it though. Just read they had their best year EVER in 2023: $10 billion in one year 🤯

These are all really expensive and far out of my price range, also I dislike western skincare so I think I will be sticking with my KBeauty faves for barrier care. I also don’t particularly like the brands Murad or Drunk Elephant… Dermalogica is ok, used it 15 years ago as a teen but overpriced for what its worth imo
