Orange Julep's hype is only because of the iconic look of the restaurant (Giant orange). The food is pretty much like any average pataterie that serves hot-dogs/poutine.

Gods. I could eat a bag of 6 saint-viateur bagel like this with nothing on them. Thats how good they are. Other companies make delicious montreal style bagels too but that one... when you get them still warm....
I agree, Orange Julep should have been on this list!
0:09 Beaver Tails 0:45 St Vlateur Bagel Shop 2:00 Maple Store 3:40 La Banquise 4:23 Schwartz
There are two lines at schwartz, one for take out and one for dine-in. It usually looks like a really long line but it moves really fast. If you're a solo traveler, you can easily sit at the bar without waiting for too long and they can serve you faster. I went there yesterday and it was honestly amazing!
beaver tails can be visited anywhere in canada, really.....not even that great to be honest!
no Montrealer ever goes to eat Beaver Tails. also as Idc Lawl points out, most of these tourists traps. bagels are dope though

What I hate about these videos is that it only shows foods that are known to tourists for being Canadian or Montreal foods. whats so amazing about this city is the abundance of different cultures, which means so many more food options, like kazu on st Catherine, pizza Napolitana, or l'avenue. every video about food in Montreal always has either poutine, bagels or maple syrup which is starting to get on my nerves.

BEAUTYS!!!!
I just want to clear something out: I have worked at Beavertails for a summer and a half, and I can tell you that this is not how toppings work. You have your nine standard choices, but normally they would only come with the ascribed toppings and nothing else. You can ask to add extra toppings, but I remember times when the place was so busy we couldn't oblige to these types of demands. If you want tails with varied toppings, I suggest to come to a locationn during a down time, like during supper. P.S. the breakfasts and poutines at Chez Claudette are the bomb.
I did all of them! I miss montreal so much

Montreal has two staple foods, smoked meat and poutine. I would suggest looking into both if you do visit because like anything, there are always gonna be local disagreements where the best eats are. Bon Appétit did a great video recently covering many of the local poutine spots. I'm sure there are plenty of others that have covered smoked meat.
So as someone that grew up in Montreal Id say the stuff you showed was pretty much the tourist trap of the Island. Soo many more great places but I guess this is what people want to see for views ;)

The beavertail came from an ex-donut shop employee who decided to take the same amount of dough for one donut, spread it out like a beaver's tail and put all sorts of stuff on it. Why make 6 donuts when you can just make 1 and charge the same price, brilliant strategy

I wish they would clearly list all the restaurants they show in their description, so we could find them easier, I mean what's the point of this? Why would I surscribe when they're not helpful lol Ok, so I went through the trouble of searching for each of the places here i was interested in... and they're all near one location, downtown old port... Not a real fair representation for montreal, but I guess good for travelers so they don't have to go far once they reach one spot. I'm still going to continue looking for videos, espeacially ones closer to the west-fkn-island!
Beaver tails are every where in canada
According to the title "TOP 5 PLACES TO VISIT IN MONTREAL" it should be a video showing "places" But it's all about different kinds of famous foods. The title doesn't match. Plz change it.
Bro right in front of la banquise its ma poule mouillée. Much better
Brst steaks are at Moishe's!
Ya know what’s sad I went to Montreal and didn’t even try maple taffy Edit: maybe it’s because I went in summer Edit 2: I HAVE FOUND MY HEAVEN ITS NUMBER 4 I NEED TO GO THERE I NEED TO ASK MY PARENTS IF WE CAN GO TO MONTREAL AGAIN the best part is I live in Canada so I can drive there 😏 😂😂😂
beavertails really... they have those everywhere
The "beaver tail" is really nothing special.. that's why you don't see them around Montreal. I've been once when I was in the area, it's not something I'd travel for. I wouldn't mind trying these other places.
Nice content, But instrumental choice was terrible.

I'm a Montrealer and last time I ate a beaver tail was about 20 years ago. Never heard of Maple delights. Probably in the Old Port. You won't see local islanders in the Old Port cause its a tourist trap.
